SRI LANKA 05 DAYS / 4 NIGHTS ITINERARY: COLOMBO/ HABARANA / KANDY / COLOMBO
Day 1 : Arrive Colombo (By an International flight) Habarana Arrive Bandaranaike International Airport. Following Customs / Immigration formalities and baggage collection, a Distant Frontiers Representative will meet you outside the Arrival Hall. Breakfast & wash and change room at Airport Hotel. Drive to Habarana. (Approx 4½ hours / 155 km.). En route stop for tea/coffee. Enroute breakfast at Saruketha Restaurant in Kurunegala. (approx. 2hrs/75 km) Charter flight or helicopters for transfer (flying time: approx. 45 mins) Arrival at the Hotel, welcome drinks & refreshing towels. : Royal welcome on arrival with a "Perahera". Coaches will stop at the entrance and the group will be escorted to the hotel with a procession of dancers, musicians & drummers. A ceremonially dressed elephant will accompany guests to the hotel. Lunch at the hotel. After lunch, check into the hotel (official check-inn 1400 hrs). Afternoon Blessing ceremony at a temple to welcome the group in the traditional way followed by visit to Dambulla Cave temple to get an introduction to the Buddhist culture Welcome cocktails followed by dinner in the Jungle terrain of the hotel Mask dance performance and Soft Music to accompany the dinner. Yoga class at the hotel (outdoor venue) with a spiritual yoga master (group of 25 pax for each class the group will be divided in two sub-groups). After breakfast depart for Sigiriya Rock Fortress (30 minutes drive). Climb to the top of this Lion shape rock for the breathtaking view (view of the national park, monuments etc.). After sightseeing lunch at local restaurant. Afternoon, depart for Habarana for an exciting elephant back safari through the jungle/village and lake with high tea at a unique location in the jungle. Clients will have time to interact with their elephants and feed them. Note : 4 pax per elephant (maximum of 13 elephants) total 1 and half hours. Evening return back to hotel (10 minute drive). Dinner in an exclusive area of the hotel. Overnight at The Cinnamon Lodge, Habarana Day 3 : Habarana Polonnaruwa Minneriya Habarana Breakfast at the restaurant of hotel. Proceed for the visit of the ancient city of Polonnaruwa (1 hour drive).
The ancient sacred city of Polonnaruwa, now a UNESCO world heritage site, was once the capital of Sri Lanka in the 11th and 12th centuries after the decline of Anuradhapura. The entire landscape of the region is punctuated by huge man-made reservoirs, the most famous of which is the Parakrama Samudra or the Sea of Parakrama, larger in size than the Colombo harbour. The monuments are relatively well preserved and give clear evidence of the glory of Sri Lanka's past Visit of Polonnaruwa by bicycle. International buffet Lunch at an exclusive venue overlooking the lake Sea of Parakrama Transfer by 4 X 4 jeeps for a BBQ lunch in the jungle overlooking the Eriyawewa Lake with an ancient martial arts performance Angam Martial Arts Post lunch depart by jeeps for Minneriya National Park (Approx.45 minutes drive) to see wild elephants in their natural habitat. Jeep Safari at Minneriya National with Soft drinks & fresh fruits. Note : 01 roadbook & 01 map per jeep. Evening return back to hotel Traditional Sri Lankan dress (Batik sarong for men & Saree for women) for Dinner. Sri Lankan Theme dinner by the lake, area will be decorated with torches and covered by bamboo fence. Menu will include continental and Sri Lankan food with live food stations. Cultural performance with deviled dancing and fire walking display. Overnight at The Cinnamon Lodge, Habarana Day 4 : Habarana Kandy After breakfast checkout of hotel. Drive to Kandy en-route lunch in the paddy fields in Matale. (approx. 70km / 2hrs) Continue drive towards Kandy (approx. 35 km / 1½ hrs) Visit of the Temple of the Tooth followed by a Tuk tuk ride through the city till the upper lake
Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic - ever since 4th Century A.D, when the Buddha's Tooth was brought to Sri Lanka hidden from sacrilegious hands in an Orissan princess' hair, the Relic has grown in repute and holiness in Sri Lanka and throughout the Buddhist world. It is considered Sri Lanka's most prized possession. Departure by coach to the camp site (30 minutes from the city of Kandy). Note: The camp will be set up exclusively for the group. BBQ Dinner at the camp site : Firework display including creating a burning display of the company logo. DJ after dinner (until 1am - 3am with permission). Overnight in Camps. Overnight in Cinnamon Citadel, Kandy Day 5: Kandy - Colombo Breakfast at the camp Option 1 Departure by bus towards the region of the Tea plantations in Gerigama (Approximately 45 minutes ). Arrival at the plantation and take a short walk to reach the venue of the tea plucking experience Enjoy the Tea plucking experience followed by tea tasting with the owner of the plantation
Exclusive barbecue Lunch in the plantation. Depart for Colombo to board international connection Option 2 Depart for Colombo city (Approx. 3 hr drive / 115 km) Lunch at a local restaurant. Free time for souvenir shopping Transfer to the airport as per international connection (approx. 40 mins) Option 3 Visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage (1 hr from Kandy) The Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage, established in 1975, located on the banks of the Maha Oya river, commenced with seven orphans. Today some of these orphans enjoy the fortune of seeing their grandchildren born in the same location. The government created an asylum for small elephants and grown up, found wounded in the jungle. The guests will also get an opportunity to see the daily routine of elephants such as bathing, feeding etc. Lunch by the river side overlooking the elephants. Depart post lunch for Colombo for international connection ( approx. 2 hrs) End of our services.
