CEFA - Objective and Mission January 23, 1995: Ten trade fair companies from the Danube/Alps/Adriatic region sign an agreement of co-operation at Hotel Palais Schwarzenberg in Vienna. The goal of the founding companies was to find ways for a regionally well balanced co-operation and mutual support wherever possible. They combine marketing and sales expertise based on a record of more than 80 years of organizing trade fairs in the region The objective of CEFA is to tackle problems in an age of globalization with future-oriented solutions. European unity has created a new market that offers new diversity, new opportunities and new sales potential in Central and South East Europe. CEFA s mission is to offer high-quality gateways to business in the growing markets of Central and South East Europe, turning them into hubs for spreading contacts and contracts throughout the region and contribute to European integration. -3-

CEFA Activities in connection to the EUSDR Connect the Region by Promoting Tourism March 2013 at TTR Tourism Fair in Bucharest: Joint booth on EUSDR by Romexpo - Romania Novi Sad Fair - Serbia Moldexpo - Moldova Connect the Region European Inland Waterways One outcome of the Kick-off-Meeting in Budapest was a need of an European trade fair dedicated to Inland Waterways. Reed Exhibitions Messe Wien took the chance to analyse the market situation and received positive feedback from different stakeholders. Indeed a show concept was developed, different stakeholder meetings took place and associations like Pro Danube International and Austria were interested in supporting the project. Although there are public funds for investments in Inland Waterways infrastructure from the EU, however, the project was not realized due to a lack of stakeholders on the buyer s and investment side. Because of the current economic situation and the limited quantity of goods transported on the Danube, port as well as ship operators do not invest in their infrastructure. -17-
