The walk twice descends into the depths of Barranco del Rey before returning to Arona via the area beneath the Casa del Ancon and the hamlet of Las Casas. 1

Waypoints (1) Start in Plaza Cristo de la Salud (28.10003; -16.68134) The start and end point of the route in the Plaza Cristo de la Salud at the interpretation board on the west side of the square. From there head slightly uphill, veering to your left along Calle San Carlos Borromeo. (2) Junction with Carreterra General (28.10105; -16.68224) After 163m you will reach the junction with the Carreterra General (TF 51), the main road to Vilaflor. Cross the road and follow the red sign for Ilfonche/Esperanza taking you to your left, rising up a slight incline and veering to the right, following Calle Mazape as it then turns in a leftward direction to the area of Arona known as El Vento. (163m) (3) El Vento roundabout (28.10154; -16.68721) After walking along Calle Mazape for 557m you arrive at a T-junction and roundabout with a statue of Jesus. You will see the sign for Roque del Condo ahead of you pointing down to our left, in which direction you walk a very short distance. (720m) (4) Camino Real El Vento (28.10104; -16.68755) After walking down Calle El Vento for 64m you will see a sign on the gable end of a house in a lane on your right with directions for Ifonche and Esperanza. Follow the sign, as the broad lane soon becomes a narrow path. (784m) (5) Roque del Condo signposts (28.10160; -16.69004) After 316m, negotiating the 2 shallow barrancos of Las Casas and Ancon you will arrive at a T-junction with signs to the left for Roque del Condo, and to your right for the Ifonche direction. Turn right on the path that will take you to the edge of Barrance de Rey ascending upwards. (1.1km) 2

(6) Cave houses above Barranco del Rey (28.10366; -16.69098) The path now heads towards Barranco del Rey, heading inland. After 300m you will reach cave houses on your right. Soon after this the path descends into the Barranco before rising out again on the other side, still heading inland. (1.4km) (7) T-junction, turn right (28.10756; -16.69262) After 600m, and passing a threshing circle (Era) on your right, you will gradually start to ascend, then you will come across a T-junction on the rough path. The path to Ifonche goes left, you will go right, heading towards Barranco del Rey again, a little further on. The distinctive conical shape of Roque del Imoque is ahead of you in the middle distance. At the Barranco, much deeper this time, follow the winding path down to the base, walk towards the sea for a short distance, then climb out of the Barranco, heading uphill. (2.0 km) (8) Isolated casa (28.10808; -16.69062) After climbing out of the Barranco del Rey head towards the disused farm-house above and ahead of you, keeping it on your right as you pass behind it (400m), veering to the right. Note the old oven or kiln just past the house. Keep walking across the hillside heading towards the Vilaflor road and the hamlet of Las Casas, just above and outside Arona. (2.4km) (9) Through metal gates (28.10831; -16.68752) After 400m you will arrive at metal gates, walking signposts and a junction. Go around the gates and veer towards your right heading in the direction of a large white house on the hillside ahead of you, before arriving at the TF51 main road to Vilaflor. (2.8km) (10) TF 51 road junction (28.10755; -16.68592) After 200m the path meets the TF51 road to Vilaflor where there is a hiking information board. Turn right here and head down the side of the road, becoming a pavement on the right-hand side. The road dissects the small hamlet of Las Casas before descending into Arona. (3.0km) 3

(11) Turn left for centre of Arona (28.10114; -16.68213) After 900m, walking downhill, turn left off the TF51 at the signpost onto the familiar Calle San Carlo Borromeo which leads you back to the start of the walk on the Plaza Cristo de la Salud. (3.9km) (12) End of walk in Plaza Cristo de la Salud (28.10006; -16.68123) You have reached the end of the walk at your starting point in Plaza Cristo de la Salud, Arona. (4.1km) 4
