Board a sailboat, following Phoenician routes guided by dolphins, and set anchor in hidden coves with beautiful beaches and passing flamingos. Taste the Sardinian seafood with a glass of local white wine, watching the Mediterranean sunset from the top of an old Spanish tower. Be part of a new concept of tourism in the Mediterranean, actively traveling in small groups, guided by local guides who you will introduce to the Sardinian culture. A Sinis Marine Protected Area representative will meet you outside the customs area at the airport. (S)He will be at your disposal, brief you on the immediate arrangement, answer questions and curiosities and (s)he will escort you by train to Oristano and then by minibus to the small village of Cabras. In the evening we will visit one of the most famous and enchanting beach of the Marine Protected Area where we will admire our first stunning sunset on the sea. We will enjoy dinner in a typical restaurant on the beach with traditional seafood, we will have a briefing with the MPA manager that will present the Sinis Marine Protected Area, and the activities carried out. Itt I inerrarry i -- Siniss Peninssul la Mall di Venttrre Issl I land Marri ine Prrottecctted Arrea Day 2 June 28 th - Sail to Tharros Hike in the Cape of San Marco After breakfast in the hotel we will have a transfer (at about 8.30) with minibus from the hotel to Torregrande's marina. We will board a sailing boat and let start our adventure discovering Sinis Peninsula! We will sail in the stunning Gulf of Oristano following the Phoenician routes guided by dolphins. After a light lunch on the sailing boat we will reach the coast from the sea and we will visit the archaeological site of Tharros one of the most fascinating Phoenician/Roman city in the Mediterranean. The archaeological guide we will let us experience a walk in the ancient roman roads and will explain how was the city in its most flourishing days. We will swim and snorkel in San Giovanni di Sinis turquoise waters and we will discover gorgeous landscapes hiking the cape of San Marco where the lighthouse stands like a guardian in the cliff. In the evening we will walk to admire the stunning sunset from the Spanish tower sipping a typical sardinian aperitif with Vernaccia (typical wine) and Bottarga (dried mullet roe) with "pane carasau" (typical bread). We will return on the shuttle bus ride to Cabras where we will have a traditional dinner.
IIttiinneerraarryy -- SSiinniiss PPeenniinnssuullaa M Maall ddiivveennttrree IIssllaanndd M Maarriinnee PPrrootteecctteedd A Arreeaa Day 3 June 29th - Ride a bike along wetlands and white beaches After breakfast, we will ride a bicycle along countryside road with a naturalistic guide along wetlands. We will explore the countryside riding our bicycle with the guide until upon arrival in the coast where we will visit the unique white quartziferous beaches of the marine protected area like Maimoni and Is Arutas and the striking cliffs of su Tingiosu. A short briefing about underwater environment and researches activities carried out in the MPA (marine turtles rescue, limpet conservation, posidonia oceanica Neptune grass conservation) then the specialized guide we will show us the underwater life. After snorkeling, we will have lunch in a typical restaurant on the beach and we will return on the shuttle bus to Cabras. In the late afternoon, we will visit the Cabras lagoon fishery system called Peschiera of Mar'e Pontis, where a local fisherman will explain to us the traditional fishing method and the processing mullet roe product (bottarga). We will have dinner in the Peschiera accompanied by traditional music and folk dances.
Itt I inerrarry i -- Siniss Peninssul la Mall di Venttrre Issl I land Marri ine Prrottecctted Arrea Day 4 June 30 th - Archaeological Museum Fly Home After Breakfast we will walk along the Cabras lagoon to reach the Archaeological Museum that host several collections from different historical periods and the ancient stone sculptures of the Giants of Mont'è Prama (8th century BC). These statues, that are tall more than two meters, are carved in local sandstone and were discovered in a countryside in 1974 from a farmer that was plowing his land. Visit to the wine cellar and local handicraft. Free time to explore on your own or to pick up some last-minute souvenirs before heading home. After lunch transfer to the airport for your homeward bound flight or to join another Mediterranean, reserve of the MEET network. All transfers, accommodations, activities, entrances and meals are included. Itt I inerrarry i -- Siniss Peninssul la Mall di Venttrre Issl I land Marri ine Prrottecctted Arrea The Sinis Peninsula - Mal di Ventre Island is situated in the central western-coast of the Island of Sardinia, Italy. Thanks to its rich biodiversity, the Sinis Peninsula and Mal di Ventre Island form a Marine Protected Area (MPA) dates back to 1997 managed by the Municipality of Cabras. The MPA extends over an area of approximately 26,000 ha and is divided into three zones ( A, B, C ) with different levels of protection according to their management objectives: protection and valorization of the biodiversity, environmental education, scientific research and sustainable development of the area. The package focus to increase visitors awareness of the environmental and cultural values of the area and the principles of sustainable tourism development. Participating at this tour, you will contribute to support the marine rescue center (CreS) that operates to rescue and rehabilitate sea turtles in Sardinia.
