Melbourne is one of the most creativ and exciting city in Australia. It is a very spread out city, but has a small and cozy Centre. We loved to hang out at our favourite spot at the Yarra River. Melbourne and surroundings Flinders Street Station Shrine of Remembrance Tram City Circle Melbourne Cricket Ground At the weekends we loved to explore Melbourne with its beautiful sights and corners. It was great to experience the cities culture and vibes. 4
Melbourne and surroundings Rooftop Bar Queen Victoria Market Laneways Formula 1 St. Kilda One of our favourite places of Melbourne was St. Kilda. At the weekends we also lovedtogotothe Rooftop Bar, where you have a nice view over the CBD. 5
Our apartment 224 Cardigan Street Carlton We lived in a nice apartment in Carlton. From there we could walk into the city in about 15 minutes. 6
and surroundings Sorrento One Saturday we went to Sorrento with some friends. In Sorrento there s a gorgeous beach. 7
and surroundings Lighthouse Great Ocean Road The Great Ocean Road was just amazing! We went on a little road trip with a friend from Melbourne at a weekend and visited for example the 12 Apostels and the Lighthouse. 8
Andrew Way CEO Rehab, Geriatrics, Psychiatry Obstetrics, General Medicine, Emergency medicine Nora s workplacement was at The Alfred, it is the biggest hospital of Alfred Health with Andrew Way as CEO. 9
The Alfred is located in Prahran, a district in the southeast of Melbourne, which can be easily reached by tram. 10
Nora had the chance to join the redesining care team. There she was totally included and even got her own desk. 11
Amy McKimm RedesigningCare The Community Advisory Committee (CAC) These pictures show some of the lovely people, who made Nora s workplacement so unique. Especially Amy McKimm, Manager Redesigning Care, is a perfect advisor. She was always in contact with Nora and arraged everything Nora wanted to see and experience. 12
The Royal Women s Hospital Specialist hospital in gynaecology and obstetrics with 226 beds Milena spent her occupational training at the Royal Women s Hospital in Parkville, Melbourne. 13
The Royal Women s Hospital As you can see on this pictures, The Royal Women s Hospital is a very modern and newbuilt hospital, which is famous for ist treatments in wide sections of the population. 14
The Royal Women s Hospital Chris Gamble, Executive Director Human Resources and Information Technology, gave Milena a very warm welcome at the hospital and introduced her to a lot of nice people. Amelia Matlock, Manager Medical Workforce & International Workforce Coordinator, coordinated Milena s work placement at The Women s and always had a sympathetic ear. 15
The Royal Women s Hospital Milena got the opportunity to get to know a lot of different departments in The Royal Women s Hospital. Among others she spent some time in the Health Records Department, in Human Resources, in the Perioperative Services, in the Maternity and Neonatal Services, in the Aboriginal Women s Health Department and in the Volunteers Department. 16
Classes with Just Stoelwinder Every Tuesday, we had classes with Just Stoelwinder, the nicest Australian Professor we can think of. He was the one who made it possible for us to come to Melbourne and have this great workplacement. In class, we got to know other international students, learned about their healthcare systems and had to give a presentation about the German healthcare system, too. 17
Travelling (Fraser & Whitsundays) The last two weeks of our time in Australia, we got to travel and experience some other parts of Australia. Because of the size of Australia and so many nice places to see, it was a hard decision where to go, but finally we decided to go to Fraser Island and on a sailing trip at The Whitsundays, which was amazing. 18
Travelling (Sydney) The last few days we spent in Sydney. Sydney is a great city as well. Especially the view onto the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge was worth it to come to Sydney and made our great time in Australia complete. 19
