Camps for Animal Lovers, Ages 4-18 Camp ARF s award-winning themed camps provide campers a day filled with educational and engaging animal-centered games and activities, opportunities to meet four-legged friends, and a one-of-a-kind camp experience they will howl about for years to come! Led by experienced camp counselors, Camp ARF is committed to creating a safe and memorable experience for your camper. Except for 2 special 1-day camps this Summer, all ARF Camps are 5 days long (Monday-Friday). All fees help support ARF s lifesaving programs!

Transitional Kindergarten / Kindergarten Camp ARF TK/K Camp ARF TK/K is designed for the littlest learners - children entering transitional kindergarten or kindergarten. Young campers are introduced to the world of animals through games, hands-on lessons, and fun projects. Visits from ARF Pet Hug Pack therapy animals provide a perfect opportunity for young campers to practice their gentle hands, learn safe animal interaction, and develop school readiness skills. Campers will adopt a life-like plush animal to help bring lessons to life! Campers must be 4 years old or attending TK/Kindergarten in Fall 2017. All campers must be toilet trained. $215 per camper Weeks of 6/12 and 7/31 9 am - 12 pm The opportunities are endless at ARF s camp! Campers will be delighted by animal visits and discover humane education concepts introduced through fun weekly themes. Daily hands-on lessons, fun projects, animal-themed games, and lots of play provide the perfect setting for learning with new friends. Perfect for campers practicing school readiness skills! Visits with ARF shelter and ARF Pet Hug Pack therapy animals round out the fun and help campers explore the human-animal bond, compassion for animals and people, responsible pet care, and more. Grades 1-2 Calling all aspiring veterinarians! ARF s gives campers the unique opportunity to explore the fascinating world of veterinary science up close. Through activities and demonstrations, campers discover ARF s role in keeping animals healthy, and how they can do their part. Special animal guests visit our junior veterinarians all week long. $245 per camper Weeks of 6/19, 7/24, and 7/31 9 am - 12 pm Campers will learn important lessons of compassion and respect for animals and others, and get their first taste of volunteering, through a variety of rewarding service projects and activities benefitting ARF s shelter animals. Activities may include baking treats, sewing blankets, making toys, creating adoption posters, and animal socialization. Weeks of 6/12, 6/19, 6/26, 7/10, 7/17, 7/24, 7/31, and 8/7 1:30-4:30 pm $215 per camper Week of 8/14 9 am - 12 pm From noon - 1:30 pm, supervised care is available at no additional fee for afternoon campers who are also registered in morning camp the same week. Campers registered for both morning and afternoon camp should bring lunch to eat during the lunch break.

Grades 6-8 Project CARE Campers put their collective talents to work to make a difference for ARF and animals in the community! Work with a team of new friends to explore a variety of community service opportunities and develop a unique service project. Daily interaction with ARF animals provides added inspiration, as well as lessons on animal welfare and shelter care. Grades 9-12 Shelter Animal Care ARF s Shelter Animal Care camp gives high school students a behind-the-scenes look at shelter work and a chance to get their hands dirty! Campers will shadow knowledgeable Animal Care Specialists to learn how ARF ensures the safety and health of the animals in our care. Campers will have the opportunity to work directly with an ARF shelter dog to learn reward-based training techniques and give their dog the boost they need to find a great home. $215 per camper Week of 8/7 9 am - 12 pm Animals WORK ARF s Animals WORK camp gives high school students a glimpse into the many career options available for working with animals. Campers have the opportunity to shadow staff members to learn about careers in veterinary science, animal care, animal welfare leadership, humane education, and more. Additionally, campers will explore opportunities for teens to work with animals, including pet sitting services and other entry-level jobs they can do while still in school! $215 per camper Week of 7/17 1:30-4:30 pm
NEW! One-Day Camp Paint Your Pet At ARF s Paint Your Pet one day camp, children explore their inner artist by painting a unique portrait of their pet. Local artist, Ammo, guides painters through the artistic process with specific, step-by-step instructions, and helpful pointers to ensure a fun, successful, and creative painting experience! Campers 9+ years $65 per camper Wednesday, July 26 1:30-4:30 pm Campers 4-8 years $65 per camper Wednesday, August 2 1:30-4:30 pm Painting supplies are included! The canvasses are pre-sketched with the pet portrait to provide a guideline for creativity. Students are required to provide a high resolution digital image of their pet upon registering. Submit photos to youth@arflife.org. Painters will be using non-toxic acrylic paint. Aprons are provided, but paint will not wash off of clothing.
Do I need a PayPal account to register? FAQ Frequently Asked Questions Registration A PayPal account is not required to register for Camp ARF. You can manually enter your credit card information online. Credit card payments can also be made over the phone by calling (925) 296-3142. What if I need to cancel my child s camp registration? Instead of canceling, we encourage you to transfer to another session so your child can still enjoy the Camp ARF experience! However, we understand that circumstances change and you might need to cancel altogether. To do so, please submit your cancellation request in writing to youth@arflife.org. If received at least 30 days prior to the start of camp, we are happy to provide a refund minus a $50 cancellation fee. If cancellation is submitted less than 30 days prior to the start of camp, we will refund half of the full camp payment. No refunds are offered for cancellations less than two weeks prior to the start of camp. When I register, can I request for my child to be with a friend or sibling? Many participants have enjoyed attending camp with a friend, sibling or neighbor. It can be fun to have a familiar face at camp, and there are benefits to carpooling! If your child is planning to attend with someone they know, you can make note of your camper s friends in the Additional Information section of the registration form. IMPORTANT - Please be aware that we cannot guarantee friends/siblings will be together during camp. If they are the same age, there will be opportunities for them to be together throughout the camp day. However, camper seating and group selection may vary each day. We believe camp provides a wonderful opportunity to make new friends and have new experiences. If you have special circumstances you want us to be aware of, please include that information when registering.
FAQ Frequently Asked Questions Registration Does Camp ARF offer any discounts or scholarships? Camp ARF offers need-based financial assistance. To be considered for a scholarship, please complete the application form online. My child is currently in 2nd grade. Should I register them for the 1st-2nd grade camp or the 3rd-5th camp? For summer camp, you should register your child for the grade that they will be entering in the fall. Rising 2nd graders would want to register for the 3rd-5th grade camp. During the school year, for one day or Winter/Spring Break camps, register for the camp grade that they are currently attending. Can I request an age exception for my child to attend a camp that does not correlate with their age/grade? Please register for the camp that correlates with your child s age/grade. If you have special circumstances you want us to be aware of, please include that information when registering or contact People Connect staff at youth@arflife.org.
Will my child interact with ARF animals? Campers will interact with ARF Pet Hug Pack therapy animals on a daily basis. Camp ARF counselors provide as much shelter animal interaction as possible, but cannot guarantee daily interaction with shelter cats and dogs. While animal interactions are a favorite aspect of Camp ARF programs, campers are engaged in a variety of activities to help build relationships with animals. Besides animal interactions, campers should expect a camp day to also include animalthemed activities. Will my child go inside the animal condos? FAQ Frequently Asked Questions Animals! In compliance with ARF policies, only ARF staff, trained volunteers, and people looking to adopt may enter the condos. These policies ensure the health, safety, and comfort of ARF s shelter animals.
What does my child need to bring to camp? At least a week prior to camp, you will receive a Camp ARF welcome letter explaining everything your child needs to bring on the first day of camp, including a water bottle and a healthy snack. A few things to consider when preparing for camp: Due to the interactions with animals, campers are required to wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Camp ARF staff are trained in first aid, but are not authorized to administer medication. This includes allergy medications and sunscreen! Will snack be provided during Camp ARF? FAQ Frequently Asked Questions What to Bring (and What to Leave Home) To better accommodate the varying allergy/dietary needs of all our campers, Camp ARF asks families to provide campers with a healthy snack they can eat with minimal assistance from staff. All campers should bring a water bottle labeled with their name to camp every day. Is ARF a peanut or tree nut-free facility? What is ARF s allergy policy? ARF makes every effort to maintain a clean and sanitized environment. However, the ARF facility contains potential allergens which can cause an allergic reaction, including (but not limited to) food allergens and pet dander.
