W114 STORY In 1803 US president Thomas Jefferson sent The Lewis and Clark Expedition to find a water route to the Pacific and explore the uncharted West. He believed woolly mammoths, erupting volcanoes and a mountain of pure salt awaited them. What they found was no less mind-boggling: some 300 species unknown to science, nearly 50 Indian tribes, and the incomparable Rocky mountain range. This region is big sky country, a land of pristine wilderness where elk, bison, grizzly bears and antelope far outnumber humans and where stories of The Sioux tribes Chief Sitting Bull defeating General Custer and his men at the battle of Little Bighorn can still be heard around camp fires. Home to two of the most beautiful national parks in the world, Yellowstone and Glacier National park, considered the crown jewels of the continent. It is here where W114 - The Montana Challenge is born. An expedition race which travels through trails of the Flathead National Forest and down the North Fork of the Flathead River, regarded as one of the most stunning kayaking stretches in North America, culminating in the wild west cowboy town of Whitefish. THE 4 STAGES ARE: DAY 1: SWIM RUN DAY 2: MOUNTAIN BIKE DAY 3: KAYAK DAY 4: MOUNTAIN RUN 1 I can wholeheartedly say that the IGO N60 was a life-changing event Hugh A.

W114º PHILANTHROPY IGO W114 will change more lives than just those of the competitors. Whilst fundraising is not compulsory, IGO urges competitors to raise money for our charity partner Sentebale or alternatively a cause close to their own hearts. Whether directly or indirectly, everyone involved in IGO helps to drive positive change. SENTEBALE The African charity; Sentebale was founded in 2006 by HRH Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso to provide care, support and education to some of Lesotho s most vulnerable children, many of whom are orphans and are living with physical and mental disabilities, herd boys whose livelihood limits their access to education, and adolescents living with HIV. THE SITUATION IN LESOTHO: Lesotho has the second highest infection rate of HIV in the world, HIV/AIDS remains the number one cause of death in 10-19 year olds in Africa. Sentebale has ambitious plans to operate in four to five sub-saharan African countries by 2020, contributing to the global goals of ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic by 2030. By getting involved in W114 - The Montana Challenge, you can play your part in changing the lives of the world s most vulnerable children and together we can help these young people be the generation to end AIDS. For more information about Sentebale, please go to www.sentebale.org and follow us on Twitter and Instagram: @Sentebale and Facebook: SentebaleOfficial. Please contact alice.lycettgreen@sentebale.org for help with fundraising ideas and support. IGO are very careful about who we work with on all our events. We only use suppliers and contractors who share our ethos and we strive to have a positive impact on the local area; environmentally, economically and socially. 9
