Conference Reception: Information Centre: What to do in an Emergency: Located in the Valley Building adjacent to the astroturf near the Visitors Car Park, open daily from 08.00-20.00 for check-in and all information, problems and queries Located in Square 3, open daily from 20.00-08.00 for any out of hours problems or late check-in. Dial 2222 and ask for a first aider / ambulance / fire service or police and state the nature of the emergency/accident/illness and where it has occurred. Please do not dial 999 as will delay emergency services response. Please note all members of security personnel are qualified First Aiders. Fire Regulations: In the event of a fire, please sound the nearest alarm and make your way to the nearest fire exit. Congregate outside well away from the building. All fire exits and fire alarms are clearly marked. Accident/Illness: Minor ailments and advice: In the case of non-urgent accidents/illnesses where you require a first aider contact the patrol officers on 2125. For any accident / illness which does not require medical attention an accident report form must be completed immediately. Forms are available from the Conference Reception or the information centre in square 3. For telephone advice regarding minor ailments the NHS Direct help line can be contacted on 0845 46 47. Alternatively you can visit the Colchester NHS Walk In Centre located in Colchester Primary Care Centre, Turner Road. For advice and treatment of infections, rashes, stomach upsets or injuries such as cuts, strains, sprains, fractures and burns, they are open 07.00-22.00 every day. Accommodation: En-suite bedrooms are provided with full bedding, bed linen, bath and hand towels and complimentary toiletries. Each of the flat kitchens has the facility to make tea and coffee along with an iron and an ironing board.

Mondo is open is a pizzeria Monday Friday 12.00-15.00 and is open as an evening bar & entertainment venue Friday & Saturday 23.00-02.00. Happy Days American diner is open 07.30-20.00 seven days a week, selling burgers, pizzas, milkshakes etc. Take 3 is a takeaway facility open Monday-Friday 08.30-16.00. It sells a range of sandwiches/baguettes, hot snacks such as pasties as well as a range of hot and cold beverages. Blues Café is a deli bar offering freshly made sandwiches, cakes, cookies, fresh coffee and juices Monday-Friday 08.30-16.00. Inside there is also a lunchtime salad bar open Monday-Friday 12.00-14.30, offering a choice of the seasons freshest salads and accompaniments. Food on 3 offers a wide range of international home-cooked meals including a carvery and is open Monday-Friday 12.00-14.30. Wrapid is open Monday-Friday 12.00-14.30 and offers a range of hot wraps. There is a bakery located on square 3 which is open Monday-Friday 08.00-15.00. The Campus Shop and Off Licence is situated in Square 4, open Monday-Friday 08.30-18:00 and Saturday & Sunday 10.00-15.00. It sells groceries, frozen meals, over the counter medicine, alcohol, newspapers and much more. Student Union Shop is located in Square 4 and sells stationery, leisurewear, wrapping paper and cards for all occasions, open Monday-Friday 11.00-17.00. Waterstones Book Shop is located in Square 5 next to the University Gallery, open Monday-Wednesday & Friday 09.00-17.30 and Thursday 10.00-17.30. Barclays Bank can be found in Square 4 and is open Monday, Wednesday-Friday 10.00-16.30 and has cash machines. Lloyds Bank is situated in Square 3 and is open Monday-Friday 10.00-15.00.
Post Office: Telephones: Launderette: Sports Public Transport: Disabled The Post Office is in Square 4 and is open Monday-Friday 11.00-17.00 offering mobile phone top-ups, phone cards for use in accommodation, National Express coach services and timetables, Airport coach services and timetables, Eastern National local bus passes, dry cleaning services, boxes and packaging. There is a post-box situated in square 4 next to the campus shop. Telephones are provided in all campus accommodation. Your telephone is set up to receive incoming calls and the extension number can be found on the telephone socket or by asking at Conference Reception. Outgoing calls can be made from the telephone in your accommodation by purchasing a Phone-card from the Post Office and following the instructions on the reverse of the card. The launderette on campus is open 24 hours a day and can be found on the causeway between Square 5 and the North Campus Accommodation. The launderette takes 1 coins, 50, 20 and 10p s, a wash costs 2.00. The driers cost 1.00 for 40 minutes. The University boasts a wide range of sports and fitness facilities, both indoor and outdoor. Delegates may use the sports facilities by collecting a sports card from Conference Reception that then entitles them to discounted rates payable at the sports centre Reception. Opening hours are Monday-Friday 08.00-22.00 (Fitness room opens at 07.30 Monday-Friday), Saturday-Sunday 09.00-20.00. Taxis - the telephone number for local taxi services can be found at any public telephone or you can book a taxi by telephoning Conference Reception on 2846 from any internal telephone. Buses run every 10 minutes to Colchester town centre from Boundary Road, further details including bus numbers can be found on the map enclosed in this welcome information or from Conference Reception in Square 3 or the Post Office in Square 4. The University is able to provide various facilities for guests with disabilities. These include specially adapted accommodation and disabled parking as well as access to the Lecture Theatre building, catering and sports facilities. If approaching from Ipswich and the North on the A12, take the exit marked Colchester. Follow the signs to the University. You should park in the Visitors or Valley Road Car Parks as indicated on the map overleaf. IF USING SAT NAV PLEASE ENTER YOUR DESTINATION AS BOUNDARY ROAD, COLCHESTER NOT THE POSTCODE TRAIN: Trains run between London (Liverpool Street) and Colchester (North Station) at approximately half-hourly intervals; the journey takes under an hour. Services also connect with Colchester from Norwich, Ipswich, Felixstowe, Harwich and Clacton/Walton COACH: Regular Services to Colchester Bus Station operate from most parts of Britain, either direct or through London. There is a coach service which runs between the University and Stansted Airport TAXI: There are taxi ranks at Colchester North Station, Colchester Bus Station and in the town centre. The journey to the University normally takes about ten minutes and you should ask for the University Visitors Car Park.
