How It Works Hi! Thanks for downloading our guide. We are Motorhome Rental Group, the only UK-based motorhome-sharing platform. Many motorhome owners find that they are unable to use their vehicles constantly, no matter how good their intentions. Meanwhile, in these modern times, the sharing economy has boomed. It has never been easier to earn extra income from lending, as evidenced by the popularity of companies such as AirBnb and Uber. However, there has always been a barrier to entry for those looking to share their motorhome when they aren t using it. Expensive insurance policies and complicated hiring procedures have pushed away the average motorhome owner from the lucrative rental market, leaving it to professional hire companies who have the time and money to deal with these hurdles. This is where we step in. Motorhome Rental Group is a free, ready-to-use platform whereby private individuals can hire out their motorhome without any of the traditional stresses of running a business. You will not need to worry about setting up insurance, vetting your customers, taking payments or security deposits or even working out a Handover routine. All the resources you need are right here. What makes us different? We are not a motorhome hire company. We are a platform for motorhome owners to earn money from their vehicles in a safe, controlled environment. Rather than having to worry about setting up an entire, fully-fledged business, by using our system you can earn extra income from your vehicle as and when you choose. Simply manage reservations and engage with your guests. Leave the advertising, paperwork, insurance, licence checks and transactions for us to arrange.

What Could I Earn? It s the question on everybody s mind; if I were to hire my motorhome, how much would I look to receive? There are a number of factors involved. If you follow our guidelines closely, your motorhome will earn between 350 and 1000 per week (depending on the specifications of the motorhome) during the summer. For comparison; sharing your home through a service such as AirBnB will earn on average between 275 and 800 per week (assuming you are letting out your entire place). But what could I earn per annum? The short answer: it s completely down to you. Last year s most financially successful Owners didn t have either the most or least expensive vehicles on the website. They didn t even have the most modern or up-to-date models. What made them so successful was the accuracy of their listing, and their willingness hire. Hiring your motorhome is a personal choice. If you are planning on using the motorhome yourself for 51 weeks of the year, you should be able to try and hire it out for the remaining week if you so choose. You are given the chance to accept or reject any reservation that comes through the system. Here, there are no contracts, minimum hiring periods or compulsory seasons. You are in complete control over your hiring plans. Now, does this mean that we don t provide guidelines or recommendations on how to make the most from your vehicle? No, of course not!

For those who are really looking to make as much as possible from their motorhomes, we suggest the following: Make your motorhome available for as much of June to September as possible (this is what is known in the industry as the High Season). Keep your rental fees within the guidelines provided. Charging more will make your vehicle less attractive compared to others in your area. Block off any dates that you know you can t hire by updating your vehicle s availability calendar. This will stop customers trying to hire unnecessarily. Accept any reservations that come through! Even small bookings will earn you subsequently more for each hire (due to our Acceptance Bonus scheme). Offer discounts to promote sales. These will show up on your profile as customers are looking at it and make them more likely to book. Offer a friendly and professional service. Doing so will make it more likely that your guests will leave a Recommendation. Owners with Recommendations receive three times more bookings as those with none. Reply quickly accepting reservations within 24-hours will ensure that your Guests are not left waiting for too long. Case study: M16018-03 M16018-03 purchased a motorhome in early 2016, a Roller Team 696 that seemed absolutely perfect for her small family. Despite this, she found that she could not use the vehicle nearly as much as she was hoping. She decided to sign up to the Motorhome Rental Group platform to see if she could earn some money from it in March 2016. She has now allowed us to share how much she earned last year. Over the course of the 2016 summer, M16018-03 earned 13,187.45, just from hiring out her vehicle. Following the above points, and with a willingness to adapt her plans, she was able to accept every reservation request that came through and this led to a remarkable return over the space of six months.

So what does hiring your motorhome actually entail? Managing Your Rentals Setting up a Rental Advert: Build a personal profile and create your rental advert for free by signing up online. This should take between 5 and 10 minutes, but we are always available to help you out with this. Maintaining your Bookings: Your personal profile acts as a hub for your bookings, and provides you with an online availability calendar. You can use this to input any dates that you are unable to rent. When you receive a reservation, you will be able to respond to your customer s request via text message or email. Once confirmed, Motorhome Rental Group will retain the rental fee, security deposit, and drivers licence details from the customer to arrange insurance for the hire. Customer Care: You will be responsible for handing over the vehicle to your guest and signing the paperwork on collection and return. But don t worry we supply helpful guides to teach you the best way to leave a good impression, and take you through the process from start to finish. Informing us of the Return of your Motorhome: When the hire is completed, you will need to inform us of the return of the motorhome by logging on to your profile and updating the reservation. This will prompt the payment for the hire to enter your bank account. It is also at this point that your Guest will be able to leave Feedback and Recommend you to other Guests in the future. Easy!

Insurance One of the main differences between hiring a motorhome and sharing your house is the need for every driver to be covered by insurance. The thought of having to set up an insurance policy for your guests is a big barrier to entry for a lot of owners who might otherwise be interested in earning from their motorhomes. Even once you have paid for the policy, you will still need to vet your customers and set up individual Rental Agreements for their trips. All in all, it s easy to see why it s so off-putting! The Motorhome Rental Group platform is designed to take away these stresses; we take a payment from the customer on top of whatever you decide to charge for your motorhome, and this covers the cost of our unique insurance policy. We will send you a form in advance of each hire; simply print off this form and sign it with your guest, and that s it. And that s it! Your motorhome is fully insured and ready to hire. If you already have a self-drive hire policy, you can use this for Motorhome Rental Group bookings and we can refund you the insurance charge - we just require a scanned copy of your insurance certificate as confirmation But what about smaller damages or extensive cleaning charges? Well, we also collect a security deposit of 1,200 from every customer in advance of collection to ensure that, in the unlikely event of damage, all repair costs will be covered. You could set all of this up yourself But why would you bother when you could let us do the work for you?

Charges or Sign-Up Fees Advertising a motorhome for hire is, as mentioned before, a personal decision. It would therefore not make sense to have to pay a monthly or yearly subscription, especially since you might only want to hire for a few weeks each year and use the vehicle yourself for the rest of the time. Instead, we put the power in your hands. We charge the customer a percentage on top of your fees, and it is this percentage that s used to cover the costs of running the platform. This means a few things for you: Firstly, becoming a part of Motorhome Rental Group is a completely free venture. You will not have to pay any service fees or commit any money to access the platform. Secondly, there are no contracts involved in signing up. This is your motorhome, and this is your decision to hire. The only rule we have in place with regards to staying on board is that you are not allowed to cancel already-accepted hires after all, these are people s holidays we re talking about here. Thirdly, our earnings are directly linked to yours. You can also see a detailed breakdown of the finances of each rental, so you are able to make informed decisions about the value of hiring out your motorhome. Considering 87% of the owners who sign up use our platform for at least three years, we think that we are on to a good thing here!

What s the Catch? This is a question we hear quite a lot, and the answer may seem a bit silly and obvious when it s written down; the catch is that you are hiring out your motorhome. Most people these days are aware that in order to make money, you have to provide a service that people want. However, some members have signed up thinking of this as a get-rich-quick scheme, and that they could make up their own rules without any consequences (e.g. not being contactable, changing the details of rentals at the last minute or even cancelling hires outright). By letting out your vehicle, you are providing a service to a paying customer your customer! Make sure you read through our Owner Terms of Service carefully for more information on what it means to sign up with us. Our platform provides you with a number of protections, but in return you must accept some basic rules after all, we have to protect both parties. You must also make sure your motorhome has the following before you start hiring (we advertise this to guests): Cutlery, crockery, pots and pans Outdoor chair and table set (van conversions excluded) Electric hook up leads and water hose Two propane gas bottles (van conversions require only one) A full tank of fuel (your guest will return with a full tank) A full tank of water A clean, tidy and functional motorhome (both inside and out) Guests are going on a motorhome holiday; try to imagine what you would want on your own trips to get an idea of what to provide. Some Owners and Guests hit it off so well that lifelong friendships have been formed, but the very least a paying customer should expect is a professional service. By following our guidelines closely, you are sure to be a big hit, and in turn earn as much as possible.
