WEDNESDAY 22 MARCH 2017: ARRIVAL IN THE REGION Arrival in Dole. Transfer to the Le Moulin des Ecorces 3* hotel and check-in. 16h00 : For participants arriving early, possibility to visit Dole and Pasteur s Birthplace museum. Afterwards, wine & chocolate tasting at Chocolatier Benetot s Atelier. Dole is situated halfway between Dijon and Besançon. Town of Art and History, Dole has one of the biggest preserved areas of France, with its Renaissance and Classicism heritage. It is also the home town of the famous scientist Louis Pasteur, whose birthplace is today an enriching museum. Beyond the patrimonial aspect, Dole is a river port appreciated by tourists who can stop and discover the heritage of the city. Pasteur's house of birth Gourmet dinner and overnight in Moulin des Ecorces hotel in Dole. In Dole, alongside the canal of the Tanners, you will find Pasteur s House of birth, with its intact tannery in the basement. The Pasteur museum shows you the furniture, the familiar objects, the works of art and science relating to Pasteur. You will discover his drawings and pastels, the subjects and the tools of his work: the fermentation processes, the silkworm s diseases, the vaccines against anthrax and rabies.
THURSDAY 23 MARCH 2017: DISCOVERY OF JURA WINES 10:00 - Château Chalon : visit and Jura wine tasting with Fanny, a wine tour guide. A certified traditional Comtoise settlement and one of the most beautiful villages in France, it has been occupied by humans since the 5th and 4th century BC. Château-Chalon, perched on the edge of a cliff, has watched over the entrance of the nearby retreats for centuries. This "belvedere village" reveals a panorama at the height of the wonders of his country. A landmark of the vineyards of the Jura, it has given its name to one of the best wines in the world, divine nectar with an amber color... 12:30 - Arbois, walking tour and lunch Arbois is the wine capital of Jura, and a small lively town where Pasteur used to spend holidays: the yellow-ochre stonework of the old village is the perfect setting for just relaxing on one of the terraces of one of its gastronomic restaurants. 15:30 - Visit of the Royal Saltworks of Arc et Senans The Royal Saltworks of Arc-et-Senans, an 18th century factory created to produce salt, which was, at the time, of fundamental economic importance, has been classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site. FRIDAY 24 MARCH 2017: BEAUNE AND THE FAMOUS GRANDS CRUS WINE ROUTE 9:00 Departure from Beaune in classic cars with chauffeur to discover the Grand Crus Route, which celebrates its 80 th anniversary. The Côte de Beaune follows on from the Côte de Nuits towards the south, from Ladoix-Serrigny to the hillside of the Maranges. This soil blessed with the Chardonnay grape, is where the greatest dry white wines in the world are produced (Corton-Charlemagne, Montrachet, etc.). After you have left Beaune, the capital of the wines of Burgundy, the countryside becomes gentler as you approach Santenay and the département of Saône-et-Loire. Visit and lunch mâchon at the Château de la Crée. 15:00 - Visit of Beaune Welcome to Beaune, the Wine Capital of Burgundy! Discover the city, UNESCO World Heritage site since 2015, by strolling through its timeless lanes and visit its monuments: Notre-Dame Basilica, the Museum of Fine Arts, the famous Hotel-Dieu. 17:00 Leaving Beaune in the direction of Dijon, passing though the Côte de Nuits Along a narrow strip of land, from the exit of Dijon to the Maranges, the hillsides are covered in vineyards. A road, the famous Route des Grands Crus, a true tourist path to follow, crosses the Côtes de Nuits and Beaune and their Hautes-Côtes. It is marked by 33 villages and small towns, combining welcoming cellars and art and history treasures, from which the famous Clos de Vougeot stands out. Check-in in 5* Grand Hotel La Cloche.
