The Dyke Spectacle will be colorful. A colorful program will accompany the celebration of the completion of the Seebäderkaje, the dyke promenade the Weser Dyke as well as the Weser Lido from May 18th - 20th, 2013. Pop music with Stefanie Heinzmann, classical music with the Johann-Strauß-Orchester, picnic and comedy with the stilt walkers, magicians and jugglers, a beach-party, a fantastic firework display, and the arrival of the rally cyclists are all on the agenda. For the youngsters there will be a sand castle building competition and many areas for exploring and having fun. "Alex II" will be at the Dyke Spectacle. The "Alexander von Humboldt II" - will be coming back to its homeport Bremerhaven. During the 3-day Dyke Spectacle event numerous sail trips will be offered. Highlight will surely be an unforgettable evening sail trip from/to Bremerhaven to the fireworks on Pentecost Sunday. New Opening of the Weser Lido The beach in Bremerhaven's city center has been refurbished and is now even more attractive. The largest cruise ship ever built in a German shipyard, the "Norwegian Breakaway" will come to Bremerhaven. Last Tuesday the ship left the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg and is planned to arrive in Bremerhaven either on the 18th or 19th of March. Later on, the luxury liner will depart from the Columbuskaje on a multi-day test run out to the North Sea. Shortly before Easter the ship will again arrive in the Seaside City. Then "Norwegian Breakaway" can be marveled from the visitor balcony before she departs for her homeport, New York. From here she will sail to the Bermuda and to the Caribbean. During the Norwegian Breakaway's stay in Bremerhaven the visitor balcony is only accessible via the former east entrance Steuben Street (Hafenkapitän).
