PIONEERING FOR CUSTOMER 23-25 APRIL 2018 2018 www.uitp-mena.com

FOREWORD We are excited to announce the MENA Transport Congress & Exhibition scheduled to take place in Dubai from 23rd to 25th April, 2018. With a growing number of participants, technical offers, networking opportunities, and an extensive exhibition showcasing who s who in the public transport industry, this is the premiere and most attended public transport event in the region. This 2018 edition builds on the success of previous events and also comes at an exciting time for public transport globally, but especially so for the MENA region. With continued growth, increased pressures on transport infrastructure, increased awareness on climate change, emergence of exciting technologies, and energized youth, the region has embarked on an impressive agenda for public transport. From autonomous technologies to transport network services to the introduction of public transport services in new markets so much is taking place in MENA. But perhaps where the region stands out most is how to best address social and cultural barriers to using public transport and build a culture of public transport among non-captive segments. The 2018 theme of the MENA Transport Congress & Exhibition, pioneering for customer happiness, recognizes the customer as the core of public transport service and incorporates happiness not only satisfaction. Happier customers benefit from effective public transport services that are safe, smart, convenient, reliable, environmentally friendly, and integrated. Alain Flausch UITP Secretary General Brussels, Belgium The International Association of Public Transport (UITP) is a passionate about promoting sustainable urban mobility and is the only worldwide network to bring together all public transport stakeholders and all sustainable transport modes. We have 1,400 member companies giving access to 16,000 contacts from 96 countries. Our members are public transport authorities and operators, decision-makers, research institutes and the public transport supply and service industry. Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors Roads & Transport Authority The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) the transport agency in one of the world s fastest growing cities is responsible for providing mobility solutions for Dubai s residents and visitors in line with the vision of innovation, connectivity, and happiness. Pioneering for CUSTOMER happiness Customers are at the heart of successful public transport systems. How does public transport and shared mobility respond to changing customer behavior and expectations, digitalization, emergence of new technologies and services, heightened environmental awareness, pressures on urban infrastructure, and continued budget constraints? Attaining customer satisfaction and happiness is to truly engage them and to embrace an innovative and integrated approach to enhance CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE. The theme of 2018 MENA Transport Congress and Exhibition Pioneering for CUSTOMER Happiness focuses on this paradigm shift and will tackle several key areas: SMART Mobility and Integration Smart everything! From real-time information, smart ticketing, apps, to autonomous shared vehicles, today we can offer more options and appeal to new customers.
