HAPPY NEW YEAR and Welcome to 2007 I am proud to become the next Director for Southern Nevada Harley Owners Group. One of the GREATEST HOG Chapters in the world. I would like to Thank ALL of our Officers for dedicating their time in 2006 and our new Officers for 2007. PLEASE THANK THEM when you see 2007 SNHOG Officers DIRECTOR KEVIN PACHTINGER 232-2508 DIRECTOR@SNHOGLV.COM them they do a lot of hard work helping make OUR Chapter what it is!!! Tom Plehn is staying on as our Dealer representative and Jeff Lewis continues to have an OPEN DOOR policy at the Dealership. Stepping up to Assistant Director is Karen Heriford and Rex Derby; Leslie Lambeth is moving from Membership Officer to Secretary and for now we will be combining those two positions. Staying for another year is Clar Larson as Treasurer, Larry Lewis as Webmaster and quite a few of our Ambassadors. ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT LENE MOGAVERO 434-8988 ADMINASSISTANT@SNHOGLV.COM Jim Brown (JB) is taking over as Lead Road Captain; Mark Hastie did an outstanding job!!! Todd Sterling and Jeff Lambeth are staying on as Assistant Lead Road Captains, as well as most of our Road Captains. Lene Mogavero is moving from Activities to Administrative Assistant. Lana McDonagh will be taking over those duties and Michele Klimke will be assisting. So as you may notice it really takes a lot to make a HOG Chapter function and it would not happen if not for all of these Officers volunteering (Continued on page 2) PHOTOGRAPHERS DONNA YADA-SCRENCI DONNAY@AMERALINX.NET 596-2992 ASSISTANT DIRECTORS KAREN HERIFORD 878-3565 ASSTDIRECTORKAREN@SNHOGLV.COM REX DERBY 604-3521 ASSTDIRECTORREX@SNHOGLV.COM SECRETARY & MEMBERSHIP LESLIE LAMBETH 271-0514 SECRETARY@SNHOGLV.COM TREASURER CLAR LARSON 896-9431 TREASURER@SNHOGLV.COM LEAD ROAD CAPTAIN JIM BROWN 813-1530 LEADROADCAPTAIN@SNHOGLV.COM NEWSLETTER EDITOR IT COULD BE YOU CALL-US EDITOR@SNHOGLV.COM ACTIVITIES OFFICER LANA MCDONAGH 301-0072 ACTIVITIESOFFICER@SNHOGLV.COM HISTORIAN MARILYN HASTIE 248-4515 HISTORIAN@SNHOGLV.COM KENN WYNN KWYNN@MOLASKYPACIFIC.COM 860-5678 MARK MOGAVERO HAWGANGELS@AOL.COM 434-8988 WEBMASTER LARRY LEWIS WEBMASTER@SNHOGLV.COM SPONSORING DEALER REP TOM PLEHN 595-8019

PAGE 2 Editor s Note We are still looking for an Editor this picture could be YOU Putting this newsletter together I have a lot of respect for our past Editors!! GREAT JOB :) HAPPY BIRTHDAY Susann One thing you will notice as you read this months newsletter, a lot of us seem to repeat or duplicate ourselves THIS IS THE GREATEST HOG CHAPTER!! 2007 SN HOG Primary Officers & Board of Directors Director s Saddle...cont. (Continued from page 1) their time. I joined this Chapter in the beginning of 2001, became an Officer in mid 2001 and I would like to THANK all of those past and present who have helped make this Chapter what it is today and educate me along the way. Two Chapter mottos have stuck with me along the years, Ride Safe and Have Fun, For The Good of The Chapter and this year we are going to add one more BE PREPARED. During our 2007 Chapter Planning meeting some very wise people recog- nized we tend to get relaxed and at times we are not properly prepared for our rides. We are very fortunate to be able to ride year around and have rides out of our local area. With that we need to BE PRE- PARED for other riding conditions when we ride out of town. Have you checked the weather? Do you have the proper riding gear for weather changes? Are you hydrated and prepared for the ride that day? Have you checked your ride and is it ready? There are going to be some fun and exciting things happening in 2007, one of which is to put out a list of our first half of the years overnighters by our next newsletter so you can plan for them. Please join us; invite an old member back or invite a friend. Our Chapter is what ALL of us make it. We want you, your participation and your ideas IT IS YOUR CHAPTER!! Ride Safe, Have Fun and Be Prepared to Ride Kevin

Lake Havasu Overnighter PAGE 4 ON SATURDAY December 2nd WE HAD OUR LAST OVERNIGHTER OF THE YEAR TO LAKE HAVASU FOR THE PARADE OF LIGHTS. I VE BEEN GIVEN THE PLEASURE OF TELLING ALL OF YOU WHO DID NOT JOIN IN, ABOUT THE GREAT TIME WE HAD ON THE OVERNIGHTER TO LAKE HAVASU. THE DAY STARTED OUT BRISK WHEN WE ALL MET AT THE BOULDER CITY, ALBERTSON S. WE SIGNED IN, MINGLED A BIT, LISTENED TO THE ROAD CAPTAIN S BRIEFING AND OFF WE RODE TO OUR FIRST STOP IN NEEDLES, CALIFORNIA. THE GROUP CONSISTED OF 35 BIKES,AND 3-FOUR WHEELED VEHICLES. WE ALL FUELED UP AND HEADED INTO LAKE HAVASU. THE SHORT TRIP WAS EXCHANGED FOR A GRAND TOUR OF THE BACKROADS OF ARIZONA, APPROX. 69 MILES. WE ARRIVED AT OUR DESTINATION AROUND 1:00 PM, THE BEST VALUE INN. AFTER EVERYONE CHECKED IN AND GOT SITUATED, WE SPLIT UP AND WENT OUT FOR A BITE TO EAT. SOME OF THE GROUP WENT TO MUDSHARKS, WHERE WE FOUND OUT THEY WEREN T ABLE TO HANDLE A LARGE GROUP VERY WELL. OTHERS IN THE GROUP CHOOSE TO EAT AT BARLEY BROTHERS. THIS WAS A GOOD CHOICE. THE REST OF THE GROUP WILL KNOW BETTER NEXT TIME. AROUND 6:00 PM THAT EVENING, MARK & LENE HAD THEIR B-B-Q S FIRED UP AND WITH THE HELP OF THEIR COUSINS, PAT & STEVE WILKERSON, JANICE RIVALI AND JIM, COOKED HOT DOGS, HAMBURGERS AND BAKED BEANS THAT THEY PROVIDED FOR THE GROUP. PAT AND STEVE BROUGHT RICE KRISPIE TREATS AND A VEGGIE TRAY FOR EVERYONE TO ENJOY. MUSIC WAS ALSO PROVIDED BY PAT & STEVE. WE HAD MARSHMALLOWS TO ROAST, FOOD AND DRINKS WERE PLENTIFUL. IT WAS A BIT COLD. THE B-B-Q WAS PLANNED FOR AND THE VIEWING OF THE PARADE OF LIGHTS WAS SHORTENED DUE TO THE WIND. THE PARADE SHOULD HAVE PASSED RIGHT BY OUR MOTEL, BUT WAS ONLY PERMITTED IN THE HARBOR THIS YEAR. SOME OF THE GROUP DROVE OR WALKED CLOSER TO THE LONDON BRIDGE TO SEE THE PA- RADE, BUT MOST OF US STAYED AT THE MOTEL FOR FOOD AND DRINKS. AFTER THE B-B-Q, WE ALL WALKED ACROSS THE STREET TO SHOOTERS, A NEIGHBORHOOD KARIOKE BAR. WE HAD A GREAT TIME DANCING, SINGING AND PARTYING WITH EACH OTHER. OH, I ALMOST FORGOT, WE ALL SANG HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO SUSAN LUTZ. WE HAD A COUPLE OF PATSY CLINE IMPERSONATORS IN OUR GROUP WHO BOTH SOUNDED GREAT. HATS OFF TO LORRAIN & LENE. AS NEWER MEMBERS OF THE GROUP, RON AND I WERE WELCOMED TO JOIN IN AND SHARE WITH EVERY- ONE THERE. OUR WEEKEND WAS HEIGHTENED WITH THE FRIENDSHIPS WE MADE AND THE MEMORIES OF THIS TRIP. NOT BEING ON A MOTORCYCLE, I KNOW, I DIDN T EXPERIENCE THE COLD TEMPERATURES, BUT WE KEPT UP WITH THE GROUP AT THE BACK OF THE PACK. ON THE WAY HOME, WE ENDED THE RIDE AT TERRIBLE S IN SEARCHLITE WHERE WE ALL SWIPED OUR CARDS AND SAID OUR GOOD-BYES. A GREAT TRIP CAN T WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE. By LINDA LEMOINE

From the Road Captains... PAGE 7 Hello and welcome to the greatest HOG chapter, SNHOGLV. We hope you had a great Holiday season. By now you may have heard that I have been chosen to lead your Road Captains for 2007. This for me should be somewhat easy as all the road captains are seasoned, very well trained and back for another year. My biggest challenge will be to keep the same high intensity while at the same time moving the group forward and having fun in the process. Following in the footsteps of Tony, Tim and Mark will be a tough job. The good thing for the Chapter, and I, is they are still here to help and mentor. To start with, I d like to thank all the road captains over these last years, as they are the people who have worked and trained very hard to insure that they get the Chapter down the road safely. The motto that we have lived and ridden by for the past years has been ride safe, ride your own ride and have fun. Well, we want to add one more thing to that this year, be prepared. I know in the past Mark has done a very good job trying to get members to prepare themselves for rides. Well, as road captains we want to up that thinking to another level in 2007. Basically, we need to be aware at all times, that we live in an area that we need to ride out of and the conditions will ALWAYS be different than when we leave. In December I sat in on the planning meeting for 2007 and let me tell you the chapter has some great rides planned for 07, starting with an overnighter going to Yuma. With that will be our first preaching about Being Prepared. The Yuma ride will be a ride where you will need cold gear, maybe rain gear and even a t-shirt and ALWAYS have a bottle of water in there somewhere. We also need to remember that with changes in weather and/or time of day road conditions can change quickly. The rest of the year will be full of day rides, meet and greets, meet and eats and of course lots of new overniters. All the road captains and myself want to thank you all for the great participation last year and look forward to seeing you on rides in 2007. Please ride safe and have fun. Jim Brown Lead Road Captain

Meet-N-Eat Lucille s BBQ 2245 Village Walk Dr. (at the District in Green Valley) 6:30pm Children s Christmas Ride It s December 9 th, the day of our Children s Christmas Ride; we look forward to this all year. Who knew what a Great day it was going to be when we started out Saturday morning? As we all gathered at the Dealership around 8:00 am watching members bringing in their last minute gifts to help fill the trailer up; in rides Santa and his wife Mrs. Claus. What a site to behold, Santa came riding in. We knew he had a sleigh, but who knew his other ride was a HOG? As we took pictures of the two and the trailer was loaded we all lined up for our ride to Robert Taylor Elementary School. As we approached the school the children heard the motorcycles and ran outside to see us riding up, it was exciting to see the look on their little faces, but Santa and wife stole the show. The teachers and monitors at the school had cookies and drinks for us, which were plentiful. All the members (elves) each took presents by the handful into the classroom for Santa. Barbie and helpers called each child up to accept their presents from Santa. The children were asked to keep their presents wrapped till Christmas, but we pouted, so they left that decision up to the children. We stayed long enough to see all the children receive their gifts and had a chance to mingle with them. We may have ended the ride there, but this was a day to remember. I know those children will always remember the day Santa and Mrs. Claus came to their school riding a Harley just to see them. Barbie Walker did a great job in finding FOR KIDS NOW, an organization where children were in dire need. If it where not for the generosity of the Southern Nevada Harley Owners Group these children might not of had any kind of a Christmas. Big thanks to Barbie Walker, Sharon Silva and Cinda Giesing; and of coarse Santa (Richard McCarty) and Mrs. Claus (Kathy McCarty). By: Lene Mogavero

Southern Nevada Harley Owners Group 2006 Christmas Party My First Harley Christmas! First I d like to say, what a ride! I have really enjoyed meeting all of the wonderful people in the Southern Nevada HOG Chapter! You ve all been so welcoming to me, and I ve had such a great time at all of the events. From my first Meet and Greet back in October to the Christmas Party at the Golden Nugget what an awesome experience it has been so far. I ve learned that riding a Harley is not just about the ride; it s about the people, the places and the camaraderie that goes along with it. It s a new way of life for me and I can t get enough! I attended my first HOG Christmas party and got to see a completely different side of the group that was extremely entertaining. I didn t realize so many of you could Polka dance! Everyone looked beautiful and festive, although it was difficult to recognize some as I ve never seen you without your Harley gear. And for once, I was able to attend an event without helmet hair. From the disco balls and the awesome food to the great raffle prizes, it was definitely a night to remember. And believe it or not, I finally won a raffle prize! I m so lucky! Although I think my odds were pretty good. To end out the year, I really wanted to attend the Christmas Lights Ride, but unfortunately, I was working until late that night and was unable to go. I tried to put it out of my mind as I knew I was missing out! So there I am, sitting in my home office working away, and what do I hear at about 7:00 p.m. that night? That s right the rumbling of Harleys coming my way. I m not sure any of you knew where I lived, but you rode right in front of my house not once, but twice! What an awesome sound! I ran to the window with an excited, but sinking feeling in my stomach as I watched you ride by. There must have been at least 18 to 20 bikes on the ride. I felt like a little kid on restriction watching all the other kids outside playing! I can assure you, I won t let that happen again! I guess I need to get my priorities straight! Thanks again to everyone for such a warm welcome into the group. I m looking forward to the upcoming events in the year to come and wish you all a wonderful and safe 2007. Michelle Nieto
