Prez Sez Pat Kelley The Dealership is moving from their current location on Vandyke, to the Rochester Road and Avon (23 Mile) area. At the time of this information, the numbers were still being crunched and so there was still some question to outcome. I have gathered up all the club information and items from the dealership and we will see what will happen. Keep an eye on the MCBEEMERs Email as to whether there will be a meeting held in July. I will be at the RA rally so one of the other officers may still have the meeting, I think Nick was talking about it. At any rate it will NOT be at the Vandyke location. Perhaps a restaurant or a park. More to follow. Greetings Beemers, we just finished the Beemer Blast ride. The sunrise over Lake Huron was great, the sunset over Lake Michigan had too many clouds but still provided some color vistas. There were 5 of us for the sunrise in Harrisville and 8 for the sunset in Manistee. Jay, Brian and Josh watched the sunrise over Lake St.Clair at the end of South River Road and then headed for Manistee. We did encounter a little bit of rain here and there but overall a very nice weekend. The Picnic was a great success as well, I think the final count was in the mid 20's. LOTS of food, some went home with more than they brought. As always, The Steaks, Chops, and Chicken were superb. Rhys is a true griller. I asked George D. to bring a Brisket as well, and the reputation is well deserved. Rhys also brought some Tri Tip as a sampler for a proposed menu change for next year. Instead of the steaks, we could do a Tri Tip and Brisket meat selection to go along with all the other fixins. Looking for some comments on this idea. More to follow. Many Thanks to the cooks Rhys and George, and really everyone that brought their specialty. The weather was great, and the facilities as always never disappoint. Thanks to everyone who helped plan, set up, and tear down. The RA rally is coming up fast, the 6-9th of July. Then the next weekend is the MOA rally. I am planning on attending the RA Rally but I will not be able to make the MOA rally. Nick and Paula s Excellent Adventure to St. Ignace is a go and Nick has put out some of the info for it. This ride is scheduled for the 18-20th of August. My summer plans have changed and I will not be able to put on the Observation Run for this year. If someone else would like to take it over that would be fine. The Frankenmuth Chicken Dinner Run to the Bavarian Inn is set for September 16th. Remember this one only costs $5 for members or $10 for non-members. The club picks up the tab. So, get your reservation and $5 to Jim Mick. Several of us continue the ride by going up to Port Austin at the tip of the Thumb and stay overnight then head home on Sunday. There has been some traffic about the hotel on the email and Facebook page. The Blue Spruce is where we generally stay, but this year they have a wedding party as well so they are a bit limited on rooms. So, even though the dealership is a bit up in the air as to its future, the future of the MC Beemers club is solid. We may have to find a new meeting place or we go to a different meeting format. The Wednesday night dinners are going strong and the last few I have made we had to keep adding tables as we had 15-20 instead of the 10-12. So, if you have a favorite restaurant let Betty Ward know so she can add it to the Page 2

extensive list. Remember to check the website, MCBeemers.org, the facebook page which is a private group to just club members; the yahoo email list server where you can send an email and it is delivered to all the club members that have set up an email, and the newsletter that Nick Holland sends out to everyone using the email you gave the club. If there is something you would like the club to do or an event you would like to sponsor, please let me know. Patrick Kelley President, MC Beemers Bavarian Inn Perks Card John's Bavarian Inn card has helped reduce the cost to the club of our Frankenmuth chicken dinner for a number of years now. Editor's Corner Nick Holland As is often said, the one thing you can always count on is change. Sometimes, you realize things Just Aren t Working, and the change comes from within, other times, when things are going seemingly great, the outside world smacks you and says, Things have changed. Deal with it. And here we are. A month after writing about the dealership s celebration of their 25 th anniversary, we find we don t have a physical place to meet for July and will need to work something out for the future. We are now well into the 21 st century...and we have a number of new communications means, such as Facebook and e-mail. Now, I understand that not everyone is fond of either or both, but realistically, in this day and age, it s becoming important, and kinda assumed, much like having a telephone in your house would have been in the 1980s. There are lots of changes taking place in the club now, some due to changes in member and leadership interests, some due to scheduling conflicts with the rest of the world, and some smacking us with little warning. Which brings us back to the closing and possible relocation of our hosting dealership. Between most of the leadership being elsewhere and no building to have it in, our July meeting will be VERY DIFFERENT. Current plan is, depending on the weather and the people that are available and interested, no formal meeting, but taking a ride somewhere. That s MY plan. Now, if the people available to join us are geographically reasonable, maybe we ll start at a central location and ride to a common destination together. Or maybe we ll end up in the same place. We ll be using the e-mail and facebook groups to figure this out. I ll admit, I m tempted to put a camera up at the old dealership and find out who isn t reading any of our communications. I m one of those people that often resists change, but if we are going to have to make changes (and we do!), I d prefer to make it a good change. So stay tuned to your local Facebook and Yahoo Group e-mail. And if you aren t using either, please consider doing so, as there will be lots of changes coming in the next months...and if history is any indication...they won t stop coming. In other news I got Keith s old trailer! Mechanically, it s amazing, even has a dampened suspension (most small trailers have springs...and let friction deal with the damping), and it is light enough that one person can easily pick it up (well, easily is relative, it is big enough that it is awkward). Bad news is it has some 20+ year old wiring that was all twisted-together and electrical taped together. It was all done with great care, but 20 year old electrical tape tends to do unpleasant things to twisted wire joints. Somewhere in the process of trying to track down the problems, I opted to just start over and replace all the wiring and lights with LED versions. While I have a good background in electricity and electronics, I ve got a bit of a challenge in front of me to match Keith s father s quality of work. Let s see how my work is doing in twenty years! If you haven t made your reservations for either the Port Austin or the St. Ignace rides...might want to do so. Things are filling up quickly. Nick. Page 4
