From the Office of the President July 2016 We had a great club turn out for the Niles Fourth of July parade. Our club has been participating for many years. I think it gets better every year. We are lucky to be in the United States where we can enjoy our Corvettes and get together for Independence Day. I hope everyone had as much fun as I did. Also thanks to Linda and Ski for the great barbeque afterwards. On Saturday, July 24 th there is the NRL Mini Golf event at Aloha Falls in Libertyville. There will also be a Hawaiian Shirt Contest as well. We have access to the Party Room for Pizza and Soda but you can purchase beer and wine as well. There is plenty of parking for all of the Corvettes. Hope you can make it. Saturday, August 13 th is the Club picnic at the Fagerberg Farm. There will be a cook-out and pot luck. We will also have a drive in movie there. Hopefully the weather will be great. Make sure you sign up at our July club meeting. Happy Motoring and remember to Save the Wave. Northern Rays Corvette Club General Membership Meeting Date: Tuesday June 14, 2016 By Cynthia Panther Our meeting was held at Pops Pizza on Nerge Rd. Pizza was served and the meeting began at 7:36 p.m. President- Pat Lopardo Welcome, large gathering tonight. Badger State/Northern Rays Rallye was a success, and we ended the day at Michaels on the Lake. The Porsche club was there too. Memorial Day Autocross and National Corvette Museum. Convention for 2017 is in Bowling Green. Glad Del Ulrich came to join us this evening from Florida. Welcome Patrick to your 2 nd meeting. (C6 Anniversary Corvette) Vice President-Sue Lopardo Please follow along with me on page 6 in the Reporter. July 24 th is mini golf with pizza. Club picnic is August 13 th. Rudy K. is showing a movie. We ll also caravan to Vern s farm. Treasurer and Competition Report Linda Fairlamb We still need workers for Oct 8th/9 th at the Tire Rack in South Bend. It s a club cosponsor. Membership and Public Relations Report Dan Maroney American Lemans August 7 th. We will need to be leaving at 7am to caravan from the Lake Forest Oasis. Thank you for St. Jude cars and coffee, we made $560. Sergeant at Arms Report Ed Wodniakowski and Ed Claahsen There is 2 Corvette in the lot. Governors Reports-Vern Jr. Fagerberg I will have A/C on for the picnic and bathrooms will be available at the farm. Events we enjoyed so for in 2016: 2016 Planning / Events Calendar Northern Rays Ltd. 1) Brunch at Granite City Restaurant and Brewery, Schaumburg. 14 Members and Guests join in the cozy brunch on a cold winter s day. The brewing overview and tour was made special the cutest little flight of four beers brewed right on site. Thank you to everyone that attended! 2) Larry sends a warm Thank You to all those who brought coats to February meeting to donate to the homeless. Thank You! 3) Cupid s Ball 2016 Enjoyed this fundraiser (Dinner and Dance) with our Northern Rays family and many of our friends. We had two full tables at this year s event. Thank You for your interest and participation. 4) K1 Go-Carts on March 19 th. Thanks to our Govenor Vern for coordinating this fun event. There were 14 Drivers and several hearty souls came out to cheer the NRL teams on. Jerry led the 50/50 and General Raffle ticket sales. In addition to all the money raised through Raffle ticket sales and donations. Together we raised $600 for the children at Ronald McDonald House. Excellent Event!!! 5) Is it Spring Yet! Felt like is it still Winter? with the crazy drop in temps, but we had a warm and wonderful Dinner at Ki s even enjoyed a little dancing too! There were 12 members and friends in attendance. Thanks to Dan for coordinating everything! 6) Food Drive Our April Food Drive brought in 87 pounds of food and products. Plus a very generous monetary donation. Definitely the food and supplies are appreciated right there for distribution the day we make the donation. Monetary donations as always appreciated The Food Bank s buying power is great everyone $1 brings in $8 in food. Thank you all! 7) NRL Co-Sponsored Rallye with Badger State Vettes. Beautiful Day! There were more than 25 beautiful Corvettes in the Rallye. Their Drivers and Navigators all ready to Win! It was a fun day. Ed and Sue participated in the Rallye, their first ever. Even the little Luke enjoyed it! 8) Corvette s and Coffee on June 9 th was coordinated by Dan Maroney along with Kevin and Emily Kasperski great teamwork in support of St Jude s. Thanks for ordering in the great weather too! 9) Foodie 5K to support Northern Illinois Food Bank. The track at Chicago Speedway was a perfect location. Nice job by the Food Bank on organization and Sponsorship. We even walked away with a commemorative t-shirt. 10) Niles 4 th of July Parade. Thank You! Ken, Linda and Ski for arranging such a wonderful day for us even the weather cooperated! There were 17 Beautiful Corvettes on Parade and the fans were very happy to see us! Ski and Linda did a great job on the after-parade cookout. Very fun and yet relaxing day.
