Arm / Hose System The 3/4 ID System (1.25 OD) is the most common system in the Assistive Technology field. Add hose to make the length longer. Hose segments can be separated at each bead. 1 Foot Segment Pack: 61501 Comes as two 6 segments - snap them together to make a foot - or separate the beads for different configurations 25 Foot Segment Box: 69540 Comes as fifty-nine 6 segments 50 Foot Coil: 69541 Comes as a continuous coil Assembly Tool The tool is designed for assembly and makes putting it together quicker - but not required. It can also disassemble some pieces. 3/4 ID Assembly Tool: 78004 Spring Clamp with Bead This Spring Clamp opens to a 2 opening and has a Modular Hose starter piece already attached. Loc-Line Mount: 60533 (Pack of 2) Double Socket The Double Socket allows you to turn around the direction of the hose. Required if you want to put a mount at both ends of arm. Double Socket: 61514 (Pack of 4) The Double Socket piece is often overlooked but necessary. As a double female piece, it allows the line to be turned around so that you can put a mounting bead at both ends. Y Fitting The Modular Hose Y Fitting allows you to create double arms for holding heavier items. Y Fitting: 61511 (Pack of 2) Velcro Coins Velcro coins with adhesive backing make it easy to attach round switches to the ModularHose disc along with other light weight items. Comes with 2 coins, one hook and one loop. 1 7/8 diameter Hook & Loop: 90705 3M Dual Lock Dual Lock pieces are stronger than Velcro and are useful for holding heavier items. Using the ModularHose kits for Switches? Placement Tips: Vertically aligned and positioned parallel to either side of the head Positioned for activation by a hand movement Vertically aligned and positioned parallel to knee At 90 degrees positioned directly in front of knee Angled and situated behind elbow Tips for Mounting to a Wheelchair: Make sure you have a long enough length of Loc-Line to be able to mount. The ModularHose AT Kits come in different lengths, if you need more length it is easy to add more with the segment packs. If using cable ties, attaching the Loc-Line both vertically and horizontally every few inches will prevent swiveling. Make sure that you are not blocking any moveable parts of the chair. The round tube clamp or spring clamps provide additional mounting options. Two arm configuration ideal for evaluating two switch set-ups. With supplied re-usable cable ties, easily connect to almost any chair. Three inch disc holds a variety of switches, devices, and other items. The plastic ball and socket can be made longer or shorter to match your needs. Flexible arm for putting the switch in the exact location you need and easily adjustable if individual moves. In addition, if user hits mounting arm too hard it will move and not cause injury. How Much Weight Can it Hold? The two variables that effect it the most are the length of the arm and the angle. Traditionally, the shorter the arm and the more vertical - the more weight it can hold. For example, a short 6 arm holding something vertically can likely hold several pounds but once you bend it towards horizontal, gravity takes over and the arm will not be able to hold it in position. For many applications we use a two arm system for tablets such as the ipad (1.5 lbs) because the arm can hold it up in almost any position. You can use a single arm for tablets but the length should be shortened and kept vertical. The arms are not recommended for devices over 2 lbs.
