The plumbing was roughed in by Ridings ; sidewalks, the new entrance floor, and patio areas were all poured by Langheim. Color was applied to the cement and release powder by Solomon s. The first coat of concrete sealer was also applied. A special thanks to Mike Lindsay for keeping everything moving in a timely manner. Many thanks go out to members John Riddings, Reese Langheim, and Adam Solomon for their work thus far. Creasey Construction will be next on the site to begin construction of the restroom structure. We will use of the front entrance again until he is ready to work in that area. Communications will go out to the membership regarding the entrance to the club. The back door will continue to be used throughout the project. Please do not use the construction dumpster for club trash. We need that space for construction debris throughout the project. FLEET CAPTAIN: SCOTT SHEETS Docks 84 and 31 have sold. No other docks are for sale and all lease slips have been leased. There are a few more boat houses that need to be inspected. If you have a boat house, please contact me. A water hose has been installed for the lease docks. Dock Owners please be aware of Section 9.4, Article K of SMBC By- Laws, it states: No member shall retain ownership of a boat dock unless they own a currently licensed boat (licensed by the Illinois Department of Conservation and the Department of Public Property [or its successor] of the City of Springfield), and NORMALLY keep their boat in this dock during the period between Spring Workday and Fall Workday. A boat owner s boat must display the licenses no later than June 30 of each calendar year, UNLESS previous arrangements have been made with the Board of Directors. The club has been tolerant of these violations for years; however, due to club growth there is a large waiting list for dock space. Due to the long waiting list this rule will be enforced. I have sent letters to those who are not in compliance. Ssheets1@att.net 306-7206 GROUNDS DIRECTOR: MIKE HAMENDE All members with trailers and boats in the storage area are responsible for mowing and weed eating around your trailer. The club has 2 push mowers and a weed eater you may use, or you can bring your own equipment. This is too big a task for me to maintain on a regular basis. We need your help now before the grass gets too tall and difficult to deal with. Also, all trailers must display SMBC members name, Thank you. We would like to know if there is interest in having a bocce ball league at the club. If interested send me a text at 971-5464 with your name and number of players. We are considering Wed or Thurs evenings..

BUILDING DIRECTORS: BOB KRELL & BRUCE OBERREITER Due to the weekend s heavy rain, there was some unexpected flooding in the bar area. We responded quickly to the issue, and were able to get the area dry to standards. Fred installed a door sweep, and we will be working to divert the water until the new entrance is constructed. SECRETARY: ANN MCCAUGHAN As secretary, I am reliant on club members to provide me with information that needs dissemination to the greater membership, especially regarding Good and Welfare. Please be sure to contact me if you are aware of any members or family members who should receive the clubs condolences or blessings. I can be contacted via email at ann.mccaughan@comcast.net, or via telephone at 208-221- 9795 with that information. In addition, we are working diligently to ensure all members are getting emails, and continue to receive reports that not everyone is receiving them. If you are not getting club emails, please email me directly at the above address and I will manually check your email in the system. MEMBERSHIP: STEVEN TODD SMBC is pleased to welcome five new members at the July 2016 Membership Meeting: Membership inquiries can be directed to Steven Todd: stvntodd@yahoo.com. Paper applications are available at the club, or a PDF can be downloaded from the SMBC website. The beach continues to be open as water quality and weather permit. The water quality is checked regularly; please be sure to attend to signage and notices as to whether the beach is open. If you need a couple hours of work there is some light duty work to do all summer so just give me a call so we canwork something out that fits your schedule. Thank you, Bruce. Cell 217-331- 3810.

And purchase or sell 10 tickets and receive one FREE entry in the Queen or Hearts drawing!

PAST COMMODORE: FRED WALRAVEN The Queen of Hearts game continues on Fridays at SMBC. Here are the details on that raffle: This is a 50/50 with a twist, in that each raffle ticket will be 1.00, and one winning ticket will be drawn each week. That winner will choose an envelope from the board containing 1 card from a standard deck of cards (there will be 54 envelopes total). The goal is to pick the envelope containing the Queen of Hearts. If the Queen of Hearts is not picked, prize money will continue to grow each week until someone picks the Queen of Hearts, and that person will get 50% of the accumulated prize money with the other 50% balance going towards the building fund. Depending upon how many weeks it takes to pick the Queen of Hearts, pots can grow substantially. Tickets will be sold beginning at 5 p.m. each Friday, and the drawing will be at 7 p.m. This will go on every Friday as well as at membership meeting nights on the first Thursday of each month (tickets on sale at 5 p.m. until the meeting concludes, at which point we will have the drawing). This is open to all members and family only; you must be 18 years of age to purchase tickets. You must be present to pick your envelope when the winning number is drawn. If a Joker is picked, Jimmy will provide a free appetizer with purchase of entree. Good Luck!
