CAMP LAKEPOINT PARENT WELCOME PACKET Health As a part of registration process, we ask about allergies, health concerns, behavioral concerns, and any medication restrictions. Illness In order to prevent illness from being spread, neither ill campers nor staff may remain at camp. For the protection of all campers and staff, any child believed to have an infectious illness should not attend camp. If a staff member becomes aware that child is sick, the parent or guardian will be called to pick up the child. Medication We will not be administrating any prescription medication. If any is needed you will need to administer before arriving at camp Sun Protection Because many camp activities are outdoors, your child is at risk for sunburn. Campers should arrive at camp with sunscreen already applied, as well as bring additional sunscreen labeled with their name on it. We do not provide sunscreen. We recommend campers use sunscreen with a SPF of at least 30. Age Requirements Age requirements have been established to safely facilitate age-appropriate activities. Campers will be placed into groups according to their age. Campers must be at least 5 years of age by the first day of the camp session and be able to use the restroom. No exceptions will be made. What to Wear / Bring Daily All campers should wear comfortable clothing each day. We will be outdoors for a good portion of the sessions and clothing should be appropriate. This includes clothing that allows for comfort, wear and tear and interaction with course dirt, sand, and other similar environments. Campers should wear athletic shoes (bring flip-flops as backup shoes). Campers should bring an extra pair of dry clothes and also bring on Fridays a swimsuit with a towel. Campers are discouraged from bringing personal items such as electronics, jewelry or any items of value. Campers are responsible for their personal possessions. We are not responsible for any loss or damage to personal items brought to camp. Lunch Each camper must bring a packed lunch. Campers will not have access to refrigeration or microwaves so please prepare your child s lunch accordingly with an ice pack. Snacks We take two snack breaks during the day - one mid-morning and one in the afternoon. We suggest that you provide additional food in lunch boxes for these snack breaks. Camp T-Shirt All campers will receive one camp t-shirt for the summer (not required to be worn each day). We do ask that they wear the camp shirt on field trip days. Camp Bag Campers who sign up with us for the whole summer will receive a draw pack that they can use to bring their items in to camp. Otherwise, you may send with your camper any kind of tote, backpack, or bag for them to keep their belongings. 2

CAMP LAKEPOINT PARENT WELCOME PACKET Water Bottle Campers should bring a water bottle (preferably a reusable bottle). We will provide water refills. Please label the bottle with the child s name. Cancellations and Refunds Refunds are available more than four weeks prior to the session start date minus a $50 cancellation fee. No refunds are available after that date. Full payment is due before the child can attend camp. In the event of an emergency, a voucher will be provided to be utilized for a comparable camp (must be used within 12 months of issue). No refunds will be granted for children who are sent home during their session for misbehavior, homesickness, or other reasons beyond Camp LakePoint s control. Refunds will not be issued for days missed within a week of camp. Staff Our experienced counselors are background checked and certified in CPR and First Aid. The counselors will have gone through training on bullying prevention, risk management, behavior management techniques and what it means to be a role model at camp. In addition, we will have staff present that are water front safety and lifeguard certified. At any time that we are required to take a passenger bus seating more than 15, we have licensed CDL drivers. Code of Conduct To ensure a quality experience, we ask all staff and campers to abide by the following code of conduct: Respect for other campers, staff, and directors. Physical or verbal abuse of any kind will not be tolerated. o Bullying will be inexcusable at Camp. Leadership will address all incidents seriously and we train staff to promote communication with campers so both staff and campers will be comfortable alerting us to any problems. Treat public and private property and equipment with respect. Camp rules shall always be observed. We utilize positive reinforcement to encourage good behavior. Camp staff will promote proper behavior with clear guidelines and expectations. Inappropriate behavior by a camper will be addressed in a sensitive manner, and the camper will be redirected towards proper behavior. If a behavior becomes so disruptive that it is unacceptable, the parent or guardian will be notified, and the child may be asked to leave the program. Consequences: For minor offenses, a first offense will be verbal warning and discussion with staff member. 2 nd offense will be written notice or conversation with parents/guardian. 3 rd offense will be removal from activity and may result in a one or more-day suspension from the program. If a camper s behavior at any time threatens the immediate safety of him/herself, other campers, or staff, the camper will be removed from the activity and parent will be notified. This includes hitting children or staff and or physically endangering others, refusing to stop dangerous activity such as throwing objects or uncontrollable behavior.
