London - bags from Primark, iphones, Cafe Nero, Pret A Manger, Pizza Express and Starbucks everywhere. We were in London few weeks ago. It was amazing school trip. It was beautiful weather and wasn t raining. During this trip we saw a lot of London Taxis, red Telephone Booths, red busses and learned a lot about English people. Me and 13 others from our school with our teacher joined the High School from Bielsko-Biala and went by coach to the capital of England. We had two stopovers in Germany and a passport control in Calais in France before we got on ferry. It was 18 th November when we got to London. One of first things we saw in London was poppies installation at the Tower of London where volunteers stuck a ceramic poppies in remembrance of those who gave their lives in the First World War. It looks amazing. On first day we saw the Tower Bridge, Dickens Inn, St. Katharine Docks where we could see a peculiar bout-a hippo.
We went to Tower of London saw Crown s Jewels and visited all the Towers. We also had an assignment to do there we had to ask somebody who was working there about the Legend of the Ravens, which says that if the ravens leaved the Tower, the fortress and the kingdom would fall. That s why there are ravens kept.
Next we went on Borough Market, there is a lot of food from all over the world. Later we passed by Shakespeare Theatre and went to St Paul s Cathedral. We went up (and later down) all the 528 stairs to see the breathtaking view of London. It s really too many stairs there. We had an adventure there: when we were going out of the cathedral we heard Attention fire in the building... so everybody had to leave the building, fortunately it wasn t real fire but it wouldn t be nice to hear something like this when you are up there on Golden Gallery 85meters above the ground I don t know if anybody was up there then. We also went to Diagon Alley and made first shopping in Poundland. Later we went to meet host families. Some of my friends were very stressed but the families were great and very friendly. Me and my 3 friends were hosted by a nice woman Mrs. Faroog. She comes from Pakistan. She is hosting girls for 8 years. When we got to our room we saw a lot of cards with thanks on the wall.
The second day started by breakfast, then we got our first lunch. I must say that English food isn t like our in Poland. It s totally different especially bread. We met in the park and went by coach to see Big Ben.
Later, as the continuation of bad luck, we didn t go to Westminster Abbey, it was closed because of protests. But we had an opportunity to take some photos in red Telephone Booths. Next we went through one of amazing parks to see the Buckingham Palace. This time the queen wasn t at home.
Later we went to National Gallery. There are loads of great paintings but you can easily get lost in the building. We had some free time on Trafalgar Square but also next assignment to talk to people and ask somebody about admiral Nelson. We had great time talking to people, we even met some Polish. Afterwards, we went through China Town to Piccadilly Circus.
Later on we went to buy souvenirs. And at the end of the day we went to British Museum. It s amazing place, very big, with a lot of interesting exhibitions. We had maybe two hours for the museum but I think we d have to spend there a week to see everything. Third day in London. We spent hours at Madame Tussauds taking photos with wax celebrities and wax Shrek among the others. We saw some Marvel s Super Heroes and was screaming in the Chamber of Horror and Scream, we took a Spirit of London Ride in a special taxi.
Next we went shopping to Primark. And later went by our coach to Natural History Museum and Science Museum. We spent some time in Museums and got back to host families. It was time to pack our stuff and write a thank-you card for Mrs.Faroog. The last day we said goodbye to our host families and went on London Eye.
After that we went to Greenwich, where before going to see the Meridian 0 we had some free time which me and my friends used to go to the bookshop, and later was time to go home to Poland. Last thing we saw in the UK were the cliffs in Dover when getting on ferry. It was very windy day and the ferry going before us has broken in French harbour in Calais so we had to wait on ferry for some time. In Poland we said goodbye to our trip pilot Mr. Krzysztof called by us Uncle and in the afternoon we came to Pyskowice, said goodbye to friends from Bielsko-Biala and went homes to eat tasty Polish dinner.
