BPAA PRESIDENT S WELCOME Welcome to The 2018 National Water for Health & the Environment Conference. The Backflow Prevention Association of Australia Inc. is proud to bring you one of the most unique water conferences yet seen in Australia. Targeting the health and environmental aspects of water used in commercial, industrial and health industries, the papers and workshops in backflow prevention, trade waste and temperature-controlled water systems will be of interest to anyone involved in water control. The theme of the conference is based around new technologies, new innovations, case studies and workshops. These sessions will attract people from all levels of industry. Connect directly with your target market. This conference offers a unique chance to network and meet prospective clients, catch up with old contacts and identify new opportunities. With an audience of over 100 delegates from all areas of the water supply industry from across Australia and internationally this is a great opportunity to launch new products, create new partnerships, generate new leads and connect with both users and regulators. The event will be two full days of presentations and papers plus a half day of hands-on workshops as well as two specific networking opportunities on the Welcome Function, watching the sunset from the end of the St. Kilda Pier and the Conference Dinner. Oversighting cross sector groups and initiatives that drive better internal performance for utilities and outcomes for customers. These include asset management, health and safety and business transformation. Greg has been in the water industry for over 25 years and worked in areas including operations, design, research and corporate strategy. Carmel Coate Victorian Building Authority Carmel is a longstanding and highly respected plumbing and fire protection industry leader, who was appointed a Commissioner of the VBA Board in November 2017. Carmel has extensive experience in the plumbing sector, having been National Executive Director of the National Fire Industry Association (NFIA) for 30 years and a member of the Plumbing Advisory Council (PAC) for the past 16 years. With strong experience in project leadership and team management, business planning and systems implementation, her extensive CV sets out a range of positions on boards, committees and advisory groups in the plumbing, fire protection and industry training sectors. Carmel is the 2018 incoming Chair of the Plumbing Industry Climate Action Centre (PICAC), the industry-led training facility in Brunswick.
