Mountain St., in Kernersville. Dinner starts at 6:00 PM and the business part of the meeting will start at 7:00 PM. Don t forget to invite and/or bring your antique/classic vehicle friend(s) with you for a fun evening! See ya Tuesday for some great food, fun, and fellowship! Message from the President We are entering into our busy and fun time of the year with our Downtown Cruise-Ins starting this Saturday, June 14th. We had excellent coverage with a comprehensive and inviting newspaper article in the Kernersville News on Tuesday, June 10, 2014. I believe the word is out and we should be set and ready to go. I will not be able to attend this first Cruise-In as my son, Chris, is getting married Saturday afternoon; however, his reception is being held at the Harmon House. Chris and Susan will be in my '54 Ford and Inez and I will be in my '54 Chevrolet and Ben and Diana are driving the '49 Ford. I want to thank all of you volunteers in advance and especially Larry Jenkins for assuming the responsibility, coordinating the parking, and picking up and returning Tim Vestal's cars. Charlie Crutchfield has also stepped in to assist Larry with these tasks. Several others are taking care of various tasks. This has permitted me to concentrate on the wedding. We are having the Rehearsal Dinner at our home on Friday evening and from your own experience, you know that there has been plenty to do. Joe Huygens and his family are planning the 4th of July picnic immediately following the parade. With so many of us that are now attending, this is becoming the highlight of the 4th. Thank you Joe & Julie for doing it so well! It is all of you volunteering and participating that has elevated our Old Salem Chapter into such a close and enjoyable group. Our events are organized and enjoyable! I will see you Tuesday evening, Ron Day, President Old Salem Chapter On the Web: National: www.aaca.org NC Region: www.ncregionaaca.com/region/ Old Salem Chapter: www.ncregionaaca.com/oldsalem OSC Facebook: www.facebook.com/ Old.Salem.AACA Don t forget Bring CANNED FRUIT and/or MONETARY DONATIONS for Second Harvest AND ALUMINUM CANS to our meeting! Also bring your OLD CAR MAGAZINES, too, for the prison ministry collection! Throw the ALUMINUM CANS and CAR MAGAZINES in the back of John Ronchetti s Petty blue El Camino before you come in and bring the FOOD DONATIONS inside with you! THANKS! 1

Note from the Webmaster Kim Unthank, our webmaster, has informed me that our website has not been updatable since the AACA at the state level changed servers and state webmasters. She has communicated with the state webmaster and he said they were checking it out and submitted a "trouble ticket" to restore the connections. It is not the program that Kim uses, nor is it anything she has done that has caused this but it is just a matter of waiting for them to troubleshoot and fix the connections or whatever is wrong. This is why some images are loaded and some are not on the site. As soon as the problem is fixed we will let all of you know. You re Invited on the 2014 Collector Car Appreciation Day Tour By David Hawks July 11 th, 2014 is the 4 th Annual National Collector Car Appreciation Day (CCAD). This day is set aside annually to celebrate and raise awareness of the role automotive restoration and collection plays in American Society. There are numerous events such as cruise-ins, shows, automotive related business open houses, drive your car to work displays, and tours which are held nationwide in observance of this special day for the automotive enthusiast. What better way could you celebrate CCAD or conclude your Independence Day celebration than with this tour. But this is not just a tour ; it is a GREAT 4-DAY TOURING EXPERIENCE, July 10 thru 13, which will take you through some of the most scenic areas in the United States. Better still, there are exciting stops which will be made throughout the tour that will implant pleasant memories in your heart and mind which will last a lifetime. You ll get to tour several grand and glorious historic homes/mansions from the 18 th and 19 th centuries (all with their own unforgettable stories). You ll get to visit the 17 th President of the United States personal home and historic site. You ll get to absorb yourself in several fabulous museums, see some wonderful private automobile collections. You ll get to pleasure yourself with a night in a Grand Historic Hotel whose history reaches back to wagon trails, Civil War soldiers, and the Gilded Age. You ll also get to enjoy an outside music festivity and you ll get a glimpse of just how great an organization AACA is, when you meet some of 3

your AACA East Tennessee Region family. Of course, no AACA event is complete without good food and this CCAD tour is no exception. You ll even have an opportunity to find out how many beans you weigh! And there s so much more it s amazing that it can be done in such a short tour. Antique and collector vehicles were made to be driven and this tour provides an outstanding opportunity to drive and enjoy touring as they were designed to do. If you haven t read the Tour Information and Schedule yet you need to take some time to review what has been planned just for you and your family. If you have access to a computer, you ll want to click on the links to find out more. If you need another copy just call or e-mail me (David Hawks) and I ll be glad to send you a copy. Our CCAD Tour is less than a month away so make your plans and arrange your schedule so you can join us on this AACA/CCAD Touring experience. (Reservation deadline is Tuesday, June 17. Contact David Hawks at 336-407-0823 or email dth4792@aol.com) June 12, 2014 Dear Classic American Car Owners On Saturday, July 12, Krispy Kreme will be celebrating their 77 th birthday with a FanFest in downtown Winston-Salem.
