Day 1 Arrival in Pereira and transfer to Hotel Sonesta, Pereira Pereira is the capital city of the Colombian department of Risaralda. It is located in the foothills of the Andes in a coffee producing area, officially known as the Coffee Axis. The places of interest include cultural centres, museums, religious shrines, plazas, parks and shopping centres. In the evening there will be a welcome party: food, music and dancing to start your holiday with a little sparkle. Day 2 Guided visit to the Parque de la Uva, a theme park of rural tourism and an ecological environment, inspired by the cultivation of grapes in Colombia, agriculture and the conservation of our biodiversity and the different elements that structure the agro-industrial sector. In the afternoon we will visit the wine factory associated with the park and here, of course, we will sample and taste its wines, coffees and brandies. We will end the day with a celebration of the grape, good food, music and dance that will capture the whole experience.
Day 3 We will travel to the city of Salento, known for its crafts, bamboo furniture and art galleries. It is an opportunity to buy all kinds of souvenirs and crafts from the region. Then, we will visit the Mirador. No other vision in all of Colombia is so captivating. In the afternoon we will go to the Cocora Valley; we will ride on horseback and explore this magnificent region. You will have the opportunity to see the national tree of Colombia; one of the largest in the world: the wax palm. Refreshed and back at the hotel, dinner and entertainment awaits you to relax and enjoy. Day 4 We will enjoy a day on the river with Balsaje los Ríos. From our meeting point we are introduced to the Willy Jeep, a very necessary vehicle to contour this sculpted land and take us to the riverbank. Our hosts are dedicated to making our day another of our memorable days, with humour, kindness and above all safety. There is an opportunity to swim in this story of moving water. The landscape is impressive and together with coffee and patacones the lunch is unique. This is a full day experience. Upon returning to the hotel, we will refresh for dinner and have another exciting night of entertainment for you to enjoy. Day 5 We will visit Cartago, a city in southwestern Colombia, in the extreme north of the Department of Valle del Cauca. This city is home to the Cafenorte Coffee Campus. Here we will have the opportunity to learn how to make and enjoy the perfect cup of coffee, cappuccino, latte, frappuccino and tinto like a professional. In the afternoon, we will tour Cartago in an authentic open wooden bus before reaching its colonial plaza. After a little shopping, we will visit one of the many coffee shops to enjoy the hospitality of one of our local baristas, before returning to our hotel for dinner, music and dancing.
Day 6 You will enjoy more of the facilities offered by the hotel. After lunch, we will prepare to transfer you to Armenia and our new hotel, the Mocawa Plaza Hotel. Armenia is the capital of the department of Quindío, one of the main centres of the national economy and the Colombian coffee axis. Armenia is part of the coffee triangle together with Pereira and Manizales. Also known as Ciudad Milagro (Miraculous City) due to its rapid growth and urban development. At the Mocawa Plaza Hotel and after settling in and having dinner prepare for our welcome party night. Day 7 If Juan Valdez, the image of Colombian coffee around the world, had a farm, it would probably be in the grounds of the National Coffee Park. The park is a mixture of mechanical attractions, ecotourism and family entertainment, where homage is paid to the production of the smoothest and tastiest coffee in the world. The park is organized to take you on a journey and to live a variety of fun experiences in a relaxed atmosphere. One of the highlights of the day is performed by its resident dance company which performs the typical dances of the region. Returning to the hotel, dinner and evening entertainment will be available so you can extend the experience of this day. Day 8 We will visit Filandia, the city, known as The Illuminated Hill of the Andes and is the second oldest municipality in the department of Quindío. It is famous for its woven baskets used by coffee pickers to collect the harvest. The tienda and café of Don Fernando serves some of the best coffee in the main square. This spacious café with its colourful seating serves more than a dozen different beverages that use locally grown grains. On a hill on the outskirts of the city, an impressive 19 m high wooden structure offers stunning views of three departments and, on a clear day, Los Nevados National Natural Park.
Day 9 We will visit the Botanical Garden of Quindío an open-air butterfly experience where there are more than 1200 native species to Colombia, housed inside a butterfly-shaped structure of 640 square metres. We will live a night experience under the stars, at Termales San Vicente. Be captivated by the experiential trip to El Embrujo waterfall, where your senses will be enchanted with giant ferns, cold water grooves, wooden bridges, impressive rocks and walls of moss, 30 metres high, where water falls in all its splendour. A whole forest to bathe in, relax and be reinvigorated. Day 10 We will visit PANACA (National Agricultural Culture Park) an agricultural theme park that promotes contact between human beings and nature, aimed at those who live in the city and to create awareness about nature. PANACA, is an agricultural theme park full of fun and interaction with the outdoors, where you can find 10 theme stations and more than 4500 animals that make up the largest collection of domestic zoology in the world. You can interact and experience a day, full of nature and emotion.
Day 11 We will visit a farm where we will experience making our own coffee; from the picking of the beans to the roasting of them, then to the blending of them and finally to the tasting of them; your own good work... your own good coffee. We will learn about the human side of the coffee first-hand from the owner of the farm. In the afternoon we will enjoy the charm of Pijao and have the opportunity to experience the city and meet some of the locals, who will share their stories and how coffee has influenced their lives. This being the last night of the tour, we have organized a farewell party in Pijoa itself. The locals have invited us to join their party; good food, refreshments, music and fun and games, underneath the stars. Day 12 We will have breakfast at the hotel, enjoy their facilities and prepare for your return home. Transfer from the hotel to airport.
