This contest is a Community Refresh fund to the winner of $25,000.00. Nominations close on Thursday July 1, 2010. v) Report from the Manager of Recreation Services re: Brunelle Sideroad Report #153 Recommended Action: THAT Recreation and Cultural Services Section recommends to Council that the Town move forward with the Town of Midland and the County of Simcoe in an Active Transportation Project in 2011 on Brunelle Sideroad to establish a connecting link between the two Towns; 9 10 vi) vii) AND THAT the engineering for the proposed trail connection be brought forward in the 2010 Capital Plan to determine whether the proposed trail is feasible within the road allowance taking into account utility, drainage and snow storage requirements and/or whether a road widening may be necessary for trail purposes. MINUTES i) Trails Committee Minutes of March 23, 2010 Monique Kingma was not in attendance at the meeting of March 23, 2010. Moved by P. Edgley and Seconded by P. Town of Penetanguishene Trails Committee Minutes i) Trails Open Ontario 2010 P. Harwood, Manager of Recreation Services, will forward the details of the event for June 5, 2010 to the members. Volunteers are needed beginning at 9:30 a.m. to approximately noon on the day of the event. ii) Correspondence from Deborah Apps, President and CEO of Trans Canada Trail re: Update on recent developments at the Trail Received for information. Discussion took place again on the possibilities of the Brunelle Side Road and if this project could be considered for funding. The Manager of Recreation Services will inquire through Bryan Peter as to what is happening with the Joint Trail Committee. There is a request to forward information about the TCT portion of the trail in each community. It will be featured in the Globe and Mail newspaper. Information and pictures will be forwarded. Signage by Brenda's Confectionary on Robert Street West requires attention. It is confusing where the TCT trails stops and starts. 5. TRAIL MAINTENANCE i) Trail Inspection Policy For information. Recreation and Cultural Services Section approved the Policy. ii) Translation of Trail Sign for Penetanguishene For information. Members were asked to review the signs one more time for any errors. iii) Hydro Poles and Signage Contact will be made on whether any signage can be erected on both the wooden and spun aluminum poles. Town of Penetanguishene Trails Committee Minutes iv) Extra Lane on Fuller Avenue Members discussed the possibility of putting in a bike lane on Fuller Avenue between Cambridge and Robert Street East. The remaining portion has a lane marked off. v) Copeland Creek Bridges Boulders are too close to the edge of the bridge which results in coming to the edge of the trail to the water. Boulders need to be moved back further but in the triangle formation. vi) Beacon Bay Marina Fencing at Beacon Bay Marina portion of Copeland Creek trail needs to be investigated. vii) Trail along Front of Ojibwa Landing Discussion took place on continuing the trail along Robert Street West in front of Stewart's Fuels and Ojibwa Landing and re-connecting to the Penetanguishene Rotary Park Trail. The trail is disconnected from Copeland Creek because of the closing of Ojibway Landing Park. 6. NEXT MEETING The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the Committee Room at the Townhall. 7.
