Absent: None Call to order at 7:15 p.m. 1. Welcome 2. Chair Report Disclosure of interest, none Debbie, Faizal, Janice and Shauna send regrets Shona motioned the agenda be approved. Jim seconded the motion. The motion passed. The May minutes will be reviewed and approved at the September 2015 meeting Carol has resigned from her position of John Dryden Liaison with Community Connection after 20 years on the Committee We Thank Carol very much for her dedication Afzal has volunteered to fill in as the temporary Liaison at John Dryden Public school The Community Connection Sub Committee met again on Monday and began work on the work plan There will not be Work Plan meetings in the summer months 3. Treasurers Report, Financial update Report attached We are still waiting for Spring revenue All expenses are in order; all staff will be paid by the end of the school year except for Roger and Cathy

The White Oaks Funds have been transferred to the Town of Whitby to help fund the Playground Program It was suggested that White Oaks be changed to Playground Program on the report 4. Human Resources Report N/A 5. Special Events Liaison Report The last official Canada Meeting was held on Tuesday night and everything is in place for the event There will be a meeting for all volunteers on Thursday, June 24 at 5:00p.m. Community Connection received a cheque for $8,300 from Heritage Park for Event Fireworks Frantastic will donate the cake Community Connection will pay for the Juggling entertainers Big Bang Band will close the show before Fireworks, in addition to many other acts that will perform throughout the day Linda, Sheila, Shona, Elizabeth, Afzal, Denise, Claire and Kit will all be there to volunteer Cathy has t-shirts for volunteers Fireworks will start around 9:45p.m. There will be large traffic cones used for fencing around the facility The Auxiliary Police do not have the authority to stop traffic to allow pedestrians to cross Victoria Street Pay duty officers will be present at the corner cross walk to encourage pedestrians to cross safely; they will also be on the grounds during busy times

Large pylons will be taped off to deter people from crossing Victoria Street The Town of Whitby has consulted the Durham Police to ensure the safety of all attending Shona suggested an Accessible Parking sign be posted 6. Town Report The Sub Committee met for the second time on Monday The Sub Committee has created 6 main objectives and brainstormed action items The 6 Objectives are as follows: Enhanced relationship with the DDSB Overview of Facilities and Programs Program Development Advertising and Marketing Committee Development Staff Development and Enhancement The Sub Committee will start shaping the items at the next meeting The plan will be for 3 years The Sub committee will meet at the beginning of September and present a draft to the board at the Community Connection Committee Meeting in September Members are still welcome to join the Sub Committee, as we would like the Committee s input John will send out meeting dates in advance if you wish to join On Monday, June 29, Community Connection is being recognized at by Council for their funding donation to the Playground Program CAPREIT and Canadian Tire Jumpstart will also be recognized

Please come out to support Community Connection at the presentation 7. Director of Operations Report Cathy would like all Liaisons to remind their Principals to provide receipts for items purchased with Community Connection donation money Cathy is willing to order items if need be Thank you to Afzal for filling in at John Dryden Camp will be set up at John Dryden at 2:30p.m. on Friday Cathy still requires John Dryden s receipts Camp numbers are low for the first week, as it is a four day week John Dryden Camp numbers are lower than Ormiston, however has a higher revenue due to number of camps and Chef Camp The Fall/Winter 2015/2016 guide has been sent to the printer Glen Dhu is no longer running Monday night programs, instead it will have a volley ball league Ormiston will no longer run Saturday programs due to low registration Whitby Shores lost $4,000 this year; Cathy may look at going to one night of programming Cathy encouraged sponsoring a CIT! 8. School Liaison Reports Meadowcrest Cathy placed an order for Meadowcrest Graduation is next week Pringle Creek Pringle Creek is currently purchasing items with the donation money Bellwood

In May, Bellwood gave Denise Purchase Orders, however she informed them she required receipts; Denise will follow up Denise is attending Bellwood s graduation on June 23 The volleyball league is in need of new nets Whitby Shores Susan Spoke with the Principal and he was apologetic about the cancelled permits Although a smaller space was offered on the night of the cancelled permits, it did not work as the programs required a gym Mats were purchased with the donation money Whitby Shores will still permit Tuesday and Wednesday and Susan has given the school a copy of the Community Connection Fall schedule to avoid conflict Graduation is on June 24 and Roger will be presenting on Susan s behalf 9. New Business Jim attended a meeting at the Catholic School Board and the Catholic Board is interested in exploring a relationship with Community Connection They encourage computerized scheduling to avoid permit pulling This will be put on the work plan The Director and Superintendent are interested in meeting with John and Cathy Camp will invest in new items this summer Fall registration opens in August Cathy will send out Fall information to Liaisons Jim suggested passing out flyers, promoting the playground program in different languages
