HERRICKS / YMCA SUMMER RECREATION July 5 August, 207 Grades Pre K to 5 (Denton Avenue Elementary School) Grades 6 to 9 (Herricks Middle School) OPEN ENROLLMENT: Registration forms may be mailed to YMCA, dropped off at YMCA or Herricks Community Center Main Office from March 5, 207 to April 2, 207. In addition, cash or credit payments may be made anytime at the Glen Cove YMCA, or during our onsite registration day (date to be determined). All registrations will be accepted into the program during that time. Applications received after April 2, 207 will be placed on a first-come, first-served waiting list for any available spots. No spots are reserved. DENTON AVENUE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL & HERRICKS MIDDLE SCHOOL LOCATION The Herricks / YMCA Summer Recreation Program will be located at Denton Avenue Elementary School (Kiddie and Youth Camp) and at the Herricks Middle School (Teen Camp). It is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, July 5th and end on Friday, August th, 207. The Herricks / YMCA Summer Recreation Program is planned and supervised by a professionally trained YMCA staff. They are assisted by a dedicated group of counselors and high school volunteers. The Herricks / YMCA Summer Recreation Program is permitted to operate by Nassau County Dept. of Health. The camp is required to be inspected twice yearly; and the inspection reports are filed at 200 County Seat Dr., Mineola, NY 50. The program provides children 3½ to 4 years of age with a unique six-week summer recreation experience. Activities include arts and crafts, computers, and a wide variety of sports, recreational swimming, trips, special events & more. KIDDIE CAMP Children ages 3 ½ - 5 We provide a secure environment with a wide range of activities geared towards the pre-school camper. Children are grouped according to age when possible. Snack and drink are provided for all full day campers. All campers must be four on or before December st. Children eligible for Kiddie Camp must be toilet trained. Staff/camper ratio is :5 YOUTH CAMP Grades K-5 This program encourages campers to have fun while participating in group activities that develop creativity. Children are grouped according to age. TEEN CAMP Grades 6, 7, 8, 9 The Teen program is designed to keep teens involved and having fun all summer long! Our program encourages positive values by providing challenging, fun and character building exercises. Designed with teenagers in mind, all campers will have the opportunity to participate in activities such as athletics, swimming, fitness and trips. Teen camp will follow a weekly schedule of 2 trips per week. COUNSELOR IN TRAINING (C.I.T.) 5 years The C.I.T. program is a great opportunity for teens to develop their leadership, communication and organizational skills. The program will provide hands on learning allowing teens to slowly work into responsible roles leading children. If interested, please complete an application and forward to the YMCA along with 3 letters of reference. SPECIAL NEEDS The Summer Recreation Program is a recreation, not an academic program. If you feel your child has special physical needs or other issues that require special considerations, please contact the YMCA at Glen Cove at 56-67-8270 ext. 29.
GENERAL PROGRAM INFORMATION LUNCH: All full day participants must provide their own lunch in a bag or container clearly marked with the child s name. A snack with water bottles will be provided. Please note that there is no refrigeration available for student lunches or beverages. TRANSPORTATION: Transportation to and from your home is not available. Transportation is available to and from your child s home school for the Kiddie and Youth Camp from Searingtown and Center Street and from all three elementary schools for the Teen Camp Program. You must sign up for the transportation option when you register. Morning pick-up at your home school is 9:0am. Half Day pick-up is 2:35pm and Full Day (Both Programs) approximately a 4:05pm departure. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Financial assistance is available based on financial need. Applications must be completed and received with camp registration form no later than April 2, 207 for consideration by our financial assistance committee. REGISTRATION All registration applications will be accepted into the Program during the open enrollment period of March 5, 207 to April 2, 207 and must include a completed registration form and payment in full by check or money order made payable to The YMCA at Glen Cove, and may be mailed or dropped off at the YMCA at Glen Cove, 25 Dosoris Lane, Glen Cove, NY 542. Cash and credit card payments are only accepted at the YMCA at Glen Cove or in person registration at Herricks Community Center. IMPORTANT: Applications received after April 2, 207 will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis and will fill up classes only where room remains.
SESSIONS AND FEES Morning Only (Kiddie and Youth Camp) 9:30am 2:30pm $595 Full Day (Youth Camp) 9:30am 4:00pm $995 Full Day (Teen Camp) 9:30am 4:00pm $,250* *Includes additional cost of two trips per week Fee Includes: Snacks, beverages, trips, limited transportation, admission fees and a Summer Recreation T-shirt. REFUND POLICY Please note that there will be a 25% administration fee for all cancellations before May, 207. There will be no refunds for cancellations after May, 207. There will be no pro-rating or reduction of fees based on missed days due to illness shorter than 5 consecutive days. Medical refund request must have a doctor s note within 5 days of the illness. The YMCA reserves the right to suspend or remove a child from camp for violation of the conduct policy. Refunds may not be given wherein this decision is necessary. MEDICAL CARDS IMPORTANT: The attached medical form (no exceptions) must be completed and returned to the Summer Recreation Office with your application or received no later than June 6, 207. The New York State Department of Health mandates that every child provide proof of immunizations signed by a physician. All child care, camp and school facilities are inspected periodically and must provide proof of every child s immunizations and emergency medical information. Health Cards are due no later than June 6, 207. If your child does not have a medical card on file, they will not be permitted to attend camp.
