WHAT TO DO? Total savings = Aprox. US$ 400 K. The financial contribution from NIC Mexico has finished and we have the challenge to finish most of the contribution from NIC Brasil. LACNIC has to be absolutely self-sustainable from January 1st 2005. Recommendations from the Finance Advisory Committee to set up a Reserve Fund.

SPECIAL PROJECTS FRIDA Program www.programafrida.net It is an joint initiative of LACNIC, The Institute for the Connectivity in The Americas (ICA) and the International Development Research Center IDRC (Canada) Supported by ISOC Small grants program to support research in ICTs in Latin America. U$S 480 k in total. 122 requests received in 2004. 12 projects approved. Already received funds. New call for projects in 2005.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES New procedures available for return resources. 316 ASN s holders with whom LACNIC didn t have contact. A direct contact campaign has finished. Very good results. We also finished a campaing to contact all of our members to: Inform them about elections and LACNIC VII Encourage them to update their information in the Database. Promote the suscription to our lists Know what they think about our services.
