CHAPTER # 11 SPRINGNEWSLETTER A NOTE FROM OUR PRESIDENT I am sure glad that this Michigan winter is done, temperatures are starting to warm up.we had a good turnout at the January meeting in Metamora Lions Club. Thank you Gary Wagner for arranging it. We had a good auction with a nice assortment of items, including a very nice set of corn hole boards with our Michigan IH logo on them, donated by Mike Atton. These sold for awhopping $275.00, thanksagain Mike for donating them. Also a BIG thank you to Jim Opersal, our auctioneer. Jim is a great auctioneer! We elected Mike Atton from Midland and Tom Anderson from Cadillac as directors. All officers stayed the same. Keep in mind, we will need more directors for next year. We made a donation to the Dansville FFA chapter for 2019. They are in the process of restoring a Farmall H tractor. I want to say a big THANK YOU for all the Michigan members that helped out, donated, or just attended the Winter Convention. As far as I am concerned, it was a huge success.thank you to Felix and Carrie Schumacher for their years of hard work with the merchandising and hanging on to help with the Winter Convention for us. Jeff Schuring has now stepped up to do the merchandising for us. Thank you Jeff! Get your tractors and plows ready for a great exciting day of plowing and fellowship at the Jeff Lenhart farm in Dorr. We will have 80+ acres of corn stubble on sandy ground to plow. Lunch will be provided. All tractors are welcome whether they are rusty or restored; we wantyour participation. SECRETARY S REPORT IH Ch 11 Fall Quarterly Membership Meeting Jan 12, 2019 @ Lions Hall, Metamora, MI Meeting called to order by Randy M. at 1:05 PM with 64 members in attendance. Pledge of Allegiance was recited with a few moments of silence after, for deceased members. Randy thanked the caterer for the wonderful meal and for all attending. Minutes of the meeting Sept 22, 2018 distributed by Gary Wagner for review & asked if any corrections or questions; Louis Wehrman moved to accept them, Dennis Anderson 2 nd accepted. The Treasurer s report was distributed & reviewed by Pam Graftema; Gary Wagner moved to accept it, Mike Atton 2 nd, and was accepted. Carleen M No new members. Scott M. Some members are getting bad sheets for the Club Newsletter will try to do something. Carrie & Felix are done with the Club Merchandise, still have things for sale. Randy Carrie & Felix are all done after the Winter Convention. He gave them a plaque of appreciation for their dedication and service. The Club needs someone to take over for them. Pam G make sure to let her know if attending meeting so know how many to plan for the meal. Old Business Randy $500 FFA donation will go to Danville for 4H project. We are looking for places in the future for FFA or 4H to give the donation to. We also are looking for places to donate the pedal tractor to. This year the Pedal Tractor will go to an Elementary School in the U.P. Carleen - Winter Convention is at the Kalamazoo Radisson, rate is $119 plus tax & parking is $8 per day, no outside food in Hotel except in your room. Jim Opersal Have not had January meeting yet but will have raffle discussion for 3 prizes; a gold 856 model tractor, a wagon for kids and a Craftsman tool kit. Randy we will raffle a Pedal Tractor after we get a license to do it. Bill Kolpack from the Escanaba Club that is hosting us in 2020 talked about events at their show with lots of camping on grounds and nearby with lots of lodging available. Future events Plow Day 4-27-2019, Hosted by Jeff Lenhart in Dorr, MI. No rain day, if bad weather will move location, and alert members, Sandy Ground. The Club will provide the meal. Spring meeting & Plow Day, date TBD, 2020 @ Kathleen & David Knust Farm, 6563 Hollow Corners Road, Almont, MI 48003, I-69 to M-53, Imlay City Exit, south on M-53 2.8 miles to Hollow Corners Rd, turn right west go 2 miles to farm both sides of the road. Summer Meeting and Show - September 4-7, 2020, U.S. Highway 2 & 41, 2401 12 th Avenue North, Escanaba, MI 49829, detailed info forthcoming. New Business Gary W conducted the nomination for President per by-laws. Louis Wehrman nominated Randy Marklevitz, Mike Atton 2 nd, nominations closed, Randy elected. Randy conducted the rest of the elections. For Vice President Judy Cline nominated Jeff Bowen, Mike Atton 2 nd, nominations closed, Jeff elected. Pam Graftema nominated Gary W for Secretary, Duane Rushlo 2 nd, nominations closed, Gary elected. Gary W nominated Pam G for Treasurer, Judy Cline 2 nd & moved to close nominations, Pam elected. For 2 new Directors: Gary W nominated Mike Atton from Midland. Louis Wehrman nominated Tom Anderson. Taylor Pobuda nominated Dennis Anderson. Pam G moved to close nominations, was 2 nd Randy paper ballots distributed to members and vote for two. Randy asked if anyone has anything for sale or wanted: 3 people had something for sale, cards were distributed to fill out for Gary W, only 1 returned Dan Gingell 810-441-1695, 14.9 x 38 tire & wheel $100, 300 Farmall radiator $75 Pam G has a standing name list for meal if any want to be on it, if not able to attend meeting, notify her orexpected to pay for meal. Gary W thanked Randy M for all he does for the Club; lead a round of applause for him. Randy ballots counted, Mike Atton & Tom Anderson elected for new Directors. The Ladies Raffle was conducted by Scott Graftema and Bill Pike, they also conducted the general raffle. Jim Opersal conducted the Mini-Auction.

Randy - Plow Day 4-27-2019, if rain day will move meeting and alert members. The Club will provide the meal. Must RSVP to Carleen or Randy even if you are not planning on bringing a tractor to plow. The winter meeting will be 1-11-2020 in Charlotte, MI at VFW Hall. WINTER CONVENTION UPDATE The winter convention has come and gone. We had a nice turnout of chapters and vendors selling memorabilia, toys, literature, clothing, plow parts and much more. Thursday night was Tractor Trivia night hosted by the Gingell family. It was a huge success, thanks to the Gingell family for putting this together. The Friday night auction had over 250 items that consisted of memorabilia, toys, literatureand much more. Thanks to everyone that donated or consigned items. The club made over $3,000.00. Jeremy Nagel from the Michigan Farm Bureau was the guest speaker for the Saturday night banquet. He spoke about the diversity of farming in Michigan. We would like to thank each and everyone of you that helped make this a success. Althoughwe don t have our final numbers, it doesn t look like it cost us much to put this together. At Exit 68 head west on 142 nd Ave 5.5 miles to 24 th St. Turn right (north) onto 24 th St for 1 mile to 144 th Ave. Turn left (west) and follow for about ¼ mile to plow site on north side of road. From A-37/Allegan/Holland: Take A-37/30 th St/24 th Ave to 144th Ave. Head east on 144 th for 2.5 miles to plow site on north side of road.
