The National Trail System is the first international standard trial system in China, which was used to promote development of the national-wide mountain activities and one of the best locations for trekking in China! Ninghai has numerous beautiful rivers, gorges and ancient villages that really provide a great backdrop for students to learn about local culture and the unique perspective that only living history can bring.

Key Program Highlights Leadership & Teambuilding Leadership and Teambuilding is series of games, activities, and challenges purposefully designed to break down barriers among participants and encourage creative thought, communication, problem solving and confidence. It is sequenced over multiple sessions starting with ice breakers and de-inhibitizers before progressing through trust, teambuilding, and problem solving exercises. Every session will include briefs and debriefs to maximize the impact on the students. NTS Hiking The standard hiking we undertake on outdoor education programs uses part of the National Trail System we also use for International Award programs in the same area. Custom made hiking trails are perfect for introducing students to this stunningly beautiful area with ocean views. Wild Cooking On the first night of Wild Cooking, Indier staff will teach a lesson on how to cook in the back country. Students will be divided into cook groups and will be responsible for cooking their own meal as a group. Instructions will include cooking safety, techniques, and considerations for the outdoors with nutritional needs. Leave No Trace Leave No Trace (LNT) is a set of 7 principals developed to promote sustainability and reduce human impact in the environment. The principals have been endorsed by the U.S. National Parks and are recognized internationally as environmentally responsible. Students will learn LNT through games and skits while understanding the importance of minimalized human impact on a natural environment. Principals of Sustainability Nature does not waste! Energy powers everything! Everything is connected! Diversity is a good thing!
Year 8 EOTC Packing List The following packing list is provided for your information. It is intended as a guide. Please be prepared for all types of weather and for regional weather information of program site, please check at www.wunderground.com. PACKING YOUR BAG YOURSELF IS PART OF THE PROGRAM EXPERIENCE. You should not expect any commercial laundries on the program and remember what you bring you will need to carry. -A pair of comfortable and sturdy closed-toe shoes is a MUST-HAVE item for program activities. Jelly shoes, Crocs and Clogs are not permitted. Sandals or Flip Flops(Slippers) may ONLY be worn in the shower. -All of your day to day gear should be packed into a day pack (20-30 Litres) so that you have your hands free when you are walking. Single strap packs and spaghetti strap backpacks are NOT SUITABLE for this program, a proper day pack is needed. -Audio players, video players, mobile phones, electronic games, excessive cash, and expensive items please leave at home. Teachers and Indier staff will be able to communicate with emergency services, school and parents. Clothing o Shorts or pants for daytime (no short shorts or skirts). Preferred quick-dry material. o Shirts/T-shirts for each day plus 1 extra (no spaghetti straps) o Quick-dry long pants for hiking o Old clothing for Community Service this may end up covered in paint or mud! o Underwear for each day-plus 1 extra o Socks for each day-plus 1 extra o Rain Jacket o Warm coat and a sweatshirt o Warm hat and scarf o Warm trousers/jeans for evenings o Sturdy closed toe shoes/boots you can hike in o Camp shoes that are closed toed o Sun hat or cap Equipment o Headlamp or flashlight with extra batteries o Sleeping Bag rated down to 10 celcius o Extra glasses or contact lens o Insect repellent and sunscreen (non-breakable container) o 1 litre (minimum) water bottle(s) with name o A large backpack/suitcase that can fit everything o A smaller day pack 20-30 litres Personal Items o Personal toiletries (excessive makeup is not needed) o Eye care needs It s Nice to Have o Journal to record your experiences for quiet time o Camera o Sunglasses o Watch Don t Forget *Passport for hotel checking in. *All medication in its original container with written and signed instructions should stay in the possession of an accompanying teacher at all times. Note: It is very important to have enough but not to over pack for your program. As you are going on an Outdoor Program, please only pack functional gears, especially hiking boots, water shoes, backpacks and headlamp, etc.
