The following is a list of common questions regarding the rally and a bit more information on optional events and challenges. Please review each section so you don t miss out on anything. As always, feel free to contact your event coordinators with any questions you may have. Upon arriving, you will proceed to the Campground office (follow signs) and you will be checked in and escorted to your site. At check in, you ll receive your Rally Packet including signage, participant wrist bands and events schedule. Make sure to take the time to read it as it has some great info and goodies for you. The Rally Itinerary is attached for your review. You will note that we ve outlined events so that everyone will have a clear understanding of what s available at any given time. There s plenty to do in the area if you want to get out and see a few things or just hang around the campground. Please print it so you are aware of the times and locations of our events.
The campground is beautifully shaded with huge oak trees and will be the perfect setting for a relaxing and fun filled weekend. Jekyll Island is a small barrier island off the Georgia coast. It measures approximately 1.5 mi wide x 7 mi. long and features 8 miles of gorgeous beaches and 20 miles of walking/biking trails. There are tons of fun activities located on the island - from beach combing, sightseeing, guided tours and carriage rides, putt putt golf, shopping, dolphin tours, biking and even a water park. No matter what your interest, there's something for you on Jekyll Island. The Jekyll Island Campground offers, cable TV, water, sewer, fire ring, picnic table, Wi-Fi and DSL Internet is free for registered guests. For your convenience, there are camping supplies and a General Store. Bike rentals are also available.
This event requires a rally participation fee. What is that fee for? As you know, this group does not require a membership fee so when hosting a rally there must be funds available for catered meals, coffee service, awards, printing etc. We make every effort to keep these fees as low as possible while providing each participant with a great experience. Adult beverages (alcohol) are allowed at your site only. each site will have a fire pit and a Picnic Table available for your use. If you are out of state, please purchase wood locally as they do not allow fire wood from out of state. each year we change the theme of this event to keep it fun and entertaining. This year it is a Rat Pack (Mad Men) theme. The 1950s in all their glory! What does that mean to you? It means that the event itself will have a theme however we aren t asking you to do anything different at your trailer or site. This is strictly for the group events at the pavilion. It s a fun way for us to come up with different ideas for events. do you have to dress up? Of course not!!! You ll find many people will dress for the year or theme of their trailer during the public open house or the Friday Dance party event however that is optional. We have a blast but we know it s not for everyone! we will have a table in the pavilion with volunteers available throughout the event selling decal, long and short sleeve T-shirts, Hoodies, Sweatshirts. - We love our pets however it is your responsibility to clean up after your pet. As a rule, pets are not welcome at any event or location where food is served. If there is a meal, snack, dinner out, please secure your pet in your trailer. in your rally pack, you will receive a wrist band for each participant in your party. Please wear it at all times. During the public open house, the public will receive a onetime use wrist band (color to be determined). If someone tries to view your trailer without a wrist band, please ask them to purchase a ticket.
Jekyll Island has a huge deer and raccoon population. Please do not leave trash or food outside your trailer unattended and especially overnight. Do not leave car windows down or trailer doors open when not at your site or you might have an unexpected visitor. Jekyll Island has a variety of outdoor adventures at your fingertips. Let the vendors know you are with the vintage trailer group for discounts. Take a guided tour on a trolley and step back in time as each building s story unfolds, and the Jekyll Island Club and the National Landmark comes alive. Tours offered daily. Historic cottages are accessible on a variety of tours, which vary seasonally, so please call for the latest information on what is available through those exciting programs. Guided tram tours depart from the Jekyll Island Museum at 11 am, 1 pm and 3 pm daily. Passport to the Century - A guided tram tour is the perfect way to experience the Jekyll Island Club. Fifty-three prominent Jekyll Island Club members created an exclusive Gilded Era island retreat for family and friends on Georgia s coast. These empire builders shaped our nation s future. Now, step into their past. When: Daily at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. Where: 100 Stable Road. Cost: Adults: $16 plus tax; Ages 7-15 $7 plus tax; Children under 6: free. E-Guided Self Tour - Introduce yourself to the Jekyll Island Club National Historic Landmark District with the best of our extensive archive of photos, oral histories, diaries, and rare home-movie footage. The Club member s stories come alive in the voices of members, staff, visitors, and experts who have worked to preserve the island s history. These self-guided tours include a walking guide of the National Historic Landmark District and interactive multi-media device rental. When: Available 9:00 am to 3:00 pm daily. Approximately 2 hours. Where: Departs from the Jekyll Island Museum 100 Stable Road, 912-635-4036. Cost: E-Guide rentals are $8 each. Historic Faith Chapel Centrally located in the historic district next to Cherokee Cottage, Faith Chapel is the second interdenominational chapel built by the Jekyll Island Club. It was completed for the Club s 1904 season. The structure is that of an early colonial meetinghouse with decorative elements derived from the Gothic style. Enjoy the charming chapel that Club Member Frederic Baker wanted to be worthy of the island. Delight in the architectural whimsy of its animal carvings, terra cotta gargoyles, and Tiffany and Armstrong stained glass windows. When: The Chapel is open from 2:00 4:00 pm daily Cost: Admission is free. (No reservations are needed.)
Carriage Tours: Horse Carriage Tours Relax and enjoy a leisurely, narrated carriage tour in the beautiful Historic District of Jekyll Island. See the cottages of Rockefeller, Macy, Goodyear, Faith Chapel and many others. When: Daytime Tours 9:00 am 5:00 pm Where: Three Oaks Farm Equestrian Services, 100 Stable Road ~ 912-635-9500 http://www.threeoaksfarm.org/ (Thursday 6:30pm) Join us at the pavilion for throw back to a bygone era of dinner salads. We ll be providing a variety of vintage salads but you ll need to bring your own beverages, plates and utensils! (Thursday 8-10pm) Break out those vintage bar books and whip up your favorite beverage to share. Bring the recipe and a glass. (Friday 4p-7p) Get your trailers spiffed up and enjoy a casual tour of the trailers. This is for participants only! Don t forget to wear your wrist bands.
Due to the size of this event, we will no longer be doing our vintage raffle but we have a couple of really fun things that will take its place. (Saturday 9-11) We are finalizing the Saturday breakfast. This year the local 4-H chapters will be offering a breakfast on Saturday morning before the open house. Come support a local charity and don t worry about cooking breakfast before the tour! Last year we helped our breakfast charities raise over $1,000. Unfortunately, due to some negative response and our ongoing difficulty obtaining judges, we will not be judging trailers this year. (Saturday 11-3) It s the time to shine up the trailers and get ready for a public viewing. We are thrilled to offer the opportunity to open our trailers to the public to raise money for charity. Remember, all guests should have a wrist band that looks like this. If they don t please direct them to ticket sales and restrict them from entering your site.
The Charity for this year is the Golden Isle Career Academy which promotes hands on learning for children in the areas of food service, architecture, photography, engineering, auto mechanics. GICA.us for more details. At no time during this event should anyone set up a For Sale or booth at their site or at the pavilion. While we are aware that some of you create fantastic items and would like a venue to market them, this is not that place. Setting up booths and sale items changes the dynamic of the event and the group has voted to only do swap and sell when specifically designated as such.
Secure your valuables in your car You are welcome to rope off areas or doorways to give individuals a peek inside without entering the trailer. Make sure you have a sturdy step if individuals are entering your trailer Keep breakables away from table edges, etc It is a good idea to stay with your trailer during the open house. People love to hear about the history and you ll be able to make sure everything is secure Be mindful of your pets with strangers take appropriate steps to protect them.
