More food than we could eat and got to rub elbows with South Texas Chapter members from the southernmost part of our areas. Got to see for the first time Chris Rivas pickup truck and step down. Step down is investment grade car needing zero!!!! Pick up will be needing some attention but has it all. Stuffed inside the engine bay of the pickup is a Cadillac 500c.i.!!! In the past I have mentioned how unexpected happening accrue and Our Cypress meet was no exception with Hal showing up after finding out a meeting was being held in his neck of the woods. He is not a member of the HET family and he and his buddy John came away with all paper work to get on the Roster. Let me prematurely welcome them to the South Chapter. In addition Hal has volunteered to host an Aug. meeting in his garage which houses 8 other old cars and will accommodate up to 80 folks!!!! This is all being planned at this point. Stop the press. Hal just called and we will meet in Aug in Tomball Texas on the second Sat, which is the 10 th. He mentioned that he has an air conditioned office in case some of us get over heated come Aug. in Houston!!!! Thanks Hal, see you down the road!!! All is good for the South Texas Chapter with us slowly meeting and greeting members and their car.it is my hope to in time move meetings around our zone of coverage to meet all members and to photo and document their old Hudson s. Anyone wanting to host a meet or has an event near them, let us know!! Chapter business was addressed; Motions were made and approved on two issues; #1. Treasury will pay Rodney Lemmon $141.48 as reimbursement personal monies paid to order chapter name tags,. #2. Chapter will take out an ad in the national meet souvenir program. Quarter page at a cost of $40.00. Ken Cates will do the art work for submissions. April Meet at Rivas Home Cypress Texas P A G E 2 The weather forecast for April 6th was stormy with rain for most of Texas. Our route of travel to Cypress,Texas would take Yolanda and I through much of the projected rainy weather patterns projected for that Saturday morning. So, knowing we wanted to be at the meeting, our plan to drive a Hudson to the meet changed to plan B, our GMC SUV. As projected much of the three hour trip was in moderate to heavy rain. We were pleasantly surprised to break out the gloom and rain twenty miles north of the Rivas home in Cypress. Arriving at our destination we found President Lemmon waiting for the starting time sitting in his Chevy SUV. We pulled into the drive and without the rain seen at our starting point in Waco. We were greeted by Chris and his son as we came to the door. This meeting was well attended. One of our members invited a friend who just happens to be a Hudson Hornet coupe owner! Hal Neumann and his friend and mechanic Steve Hawkins drove down from Tomball to share the HORNET with our group. After over an hour of tire kicking and admiration of Hal's coupe and Chris' 1951 Hornet and 1947 Hudson Pickup the ladies called us all inside for a BBQ picnic lunch. More tasty food than our merry band could consume. After lunch President Lemmon called us to order for a chapter meeting. Our guests were introduced and we discussed old and new business. Those who did not know were informed of the medical issues members Roberta and George Dennis have endured. Our group focused on prayerful support and expectations for a full recovery for Roberta and George. Old business included making sure President Lemmon was reimbursed for personal funds he paid for the last order of Chapter name tags. New business included asking for receiving and unanimous support to pay for a quarter page advertisement in the 2019 HET international meet brochure. Ken Cates volunteered to provide the artwork and to send it to President Lemmon who will provide make payment to the appropriate party. The meeting turned to the subject of upcoming meetings. Our May meeting will be hosted by Mark and Sandy Campbell in Taylor Texas. The June meeting will be a joint meeting of the NORTH and SOUTH Texas Chapters at the Terrill Car Museum in DeLeon Texas. The Regional and National HET meetings will be held in Iowa during July, so we will not hold any chapter meeting that month. Our guest and new chapter member Hal Naumann generously offered to host a meeting on August 10th at his auto shop in Tomball Texas. The remainder of the meeting was focused on how to help one another maintain our cars and to schedule meetings so our members can and will attend. Our meeting adjourned and most retired to the garage where continued discussions of HET support continued. Around 3:30 most needed to depart and Yolanda and I packed up and headed back to Waco. Those who attended included: our hosts; Chris and Estella Rivas and their sons. John Eudy, John Dalton, Elizabeth and Paul Thomas, Rodney Lemmon, Hal Naumann, Steve Hawkins, Yolanda and Ken Cates.

If you are a computer and Internet user you can find the National Membership signup at the HET online webpage where there are opportunities for you to signup via electronic means with is nearly instantaneous. It includes a monthly newsletter to keep you informed that is emailed every month to the email you provided the membership chairperson. This is a great way to make sure we are all getting current information covering current and future activities. Even with a newsletter, our club is dedicated to sharing our experiences as HET owners. This sharing is best done during the fellowship one experiences at a chapter meet. So, please attend a meet and bring you family in your HET if pos- sible. We miss seeing you and your family!
