DINOSAUR FOOTPRINTS: A STORY OF DISCOVERY Exhibition 5-30 September, FREE In September, Hutt City Libraries is hosting a nationally-touring exhibition of 70 million-yearold dinosaur footprints discovered in northwest Nelson. They are the first dinosaur footprints ever found in New Zealand! The exhibition is brought to you by GNS Science and principal sponsor New Zealand Oil and Gas. Dinosaur Footprints: A Story of Discovery Hear Dr Greg Browne talk about this exciting and important discovery and explain the science behind it. Tuesday 6 September, 6pm-7pm Fossil Hunter: Uncovering the Fascinating World of Fossils James Crampton, author of The Kiwi Fossil Hunter s Handbook, on what fossils tell us about the life and times of dinosaurs. Everyone welcome. Thursday 8 September, 6pm-7pm The Last Day of the Dinosaurs Hear Dr. Karyne Rogers talk about what happened to the dinosaurs. See and touch a piece of rock from the last day the dinosaurs lived and learn how to make your own earthquake measuring device! Ages 7+ Wednesday 14 September, 5pm-6pm 3D Kids Workshops - Dinosaurs Print your own simple 3D dinosaur object to take home! Workshops are $10 per pair (one child and one caregiver). Dinosaur Sleepover Kids can bring their teddy or soft toy to the library and leave it overnight, to be cared for by one of our resident dinosaurs, who will not under any circumstances eat the other toys no matter how juicy and tempting. SCHOOL HOLIDAYS Kids can tinker away at lots of cool stuff during the September/October school holidays! Decorate the temporary Stokes Valley Library with lots of woolly wonders, experiment with mixing colour, build with Lego, find out what an mbot is, create fash from trash and lots more! ROBOTICS WORKSHOPS Have a go with our Lego Mindstorm EV3 robotics kits! You ll need to work together to solve a challenge by constructing the robot building the code to program it. Our last day at the current library is 15 September and the library will be closed from closed 16-18 September.
