Cllr Goldfinch has now affixed a tag / label to the telephone box stating it is the property of WBTC. However, Garie Bevan is about to commence the restoration work. b. Cllr Goldfinch has asked David Forrester with an update regarding the repainting of the Football Pavilion by Stockport College students. c. Cllr Thomas will liaise with Cllr Lomas regarding sending sponsorship invitation to FV businesses. d. Paul Smith has provided a quote for providing & installing hard surfaces around the Shallcross Trail benches. Additional quotes will be sought by the Town Clerk. e. It was agreed to order a basic bench 6 long for the middle section of the Trail from the firm Woodberry. 1
f. As reported above, Garie Bevan will start the restoration work on the metal structure of the red telephone box on 2 nd August. After completion, the box will be safely stored at the Football Pavilion. g. Cllr Goldfinch will provide Barry Rudd with some paint for the door of the box. It was agreed to replace the Perspex panes in the door with suitable glass ones, and Barry will see to this. h. The Town Clerk will write again to Network Rail & Northern Rail regarding the site options for the proposed community information point, and redesign of the area around it, as no reply has been received to the last mail. i. The signs bought by British Waterways have been put in store as agreed, but the photo has not been located. j. Skate Park: The benches and waste bins are now installed. The sustainability grant has been received to fund the battery-powered lights. The users have chosen a simple concrete slab to store their bikes on. k. The idea of a slide was raised, but it was agreed this would not be suitable as the idea was not to encourage very young children, but to have area dedicated to skating, BMX bikes and stand-on scooters. l. Cllr Goldfinch reported the Football Club have concern over the stability of the left-over goals. If they were to be used they would require firm footings. m. Ben Williams has requested the provision of a basketball net and a football activity area at the Play Area site. n. WBTC has chosen and ordered three specimen Mountain Ash trees for installation at the foot of the Shallcross Incline in September. All three schools wish to be involved. o. Cllr Goldfinch has discussed the possible siting of a community storage container (20 x 10 x 8 ) at the Botany Industrial Estate, but reported that the proprietor, Roger Stevenson, was not keen on the idea. An alternative location at Bates yard was suggested. Other potential locations are the White Hart car park, the Football Club, and besides Walker & Howe s yard. 2
p. Regarding the stalled project to provide disability access to the rear of the Mechanic Institute, Ezra Garside will discuss the requested long lease with Oliver Robinson, who is a client. q. Cllr Thomas reported that the bench on the linear park has been repaired (presumably by HPBC). Action c/fwd on him to document other repair work required. r. It was agreed to add as a new project the restoration of the cast iron litter-bins, which are depositing rust on the pavement around them. These need surveying, and ownership needs to be established. s. Barry Rudd will pursue the idea of engaging a lengthsman, with suitable insurance cover, through an established contact. t. Cllr Goldfinch has written to Nick Smith of The Canal & River Trust (ex BW) about the over-grown trees around the picnic benches besides the Transhipment Warehouse. It was agreed these are the wrong type of trees for such a site. u. Cllr Goldfinch reported that the tow-path work is now rescheduled to September because of urgent repairs having been necessary at the original date to the Rochdale Canal. 3
