Six coaches plus Judy Simmons in a cabin and two couples who drove to the outing without coaches participated. The weather was cool and rainy at times but the socialization was warm and friendly. Friday night dinner was at Village Pizza and the Wheel House in Anacortes, upstairs in a room to ourselves. The bowling alley did a nice job on breakfast Saturday. We all fit in their dining room! Doug Jackson surprised us by joining us for breakfast. SECRETARY Judy Simmons 727/593-1199 judycsimmons@comcast.net TREASURER Nadine Guidry 360/679-4920 NEGuidry@comcast.net MEMBERSHIP CHAIRMAN Judy Simmons 757/593-1199 judycsimmons@comcast.net NEWSLETTER EDITOR Judy Stern 425-869-5755 judystern@msn.com After a filling breakfast we all hit the lanes. Those that did not bowl played bowling Bingo with squares that had bowling events to mark off; strike, two gutter balls etc. The bowlers played two games. Webmaster Ben Simmons 952/475-3402 benesimmons@yahoocom

The Whale s Tale Page 2 of 9 December Milestones These folks wore their bowling shirts That night the awards went to Erik Ward, high man s score; Debbie Evans, high woman s score; Jim Hoffman, highest score under 100 (he was our senior bowler); and Jane Ward highest score under 100 for the women. The Bingo prizes went to Nadine Guidry, first Bingo and Max Archer, second Bingo at the same time. Saturday night we enjoyed a pot luck dinner in the clubhouse followed by candy and popcorn for the movie shown by Bill and Debby Evans on their big screen. The movie was an Adam Sandler, The Cobbler and was enjoyed by all! Sunday we met at the grab and go breakfast to say our good byes and then leave for home. Mary and Jeff Everest hosts Birthdays: Ken Barrett-19 th Sharon Carpenter-2 nd Tina Heath-28 th John Henderson-18 th Del Staff-23 rd Erik Ward-12 th Anniversaries Hoegemeyer-16 th Kerwien-29 th Kukuk-18 th Staff/DaSouza-14 th Minutes of November 7, 2016, Meeting The meeting was called to order at 5:39 pm by Treasurer Nadine Guidry. She thanked our Mary & Jeff Everest A motion for approval of the September Meeting Minutes was made by Jeff Everest and seconded by Bart Cronin and approved by acclamation. OFFICERS REPORTS Presidents Report Our President, Ben Simmons, was absent due to a bout with shingles and post herpetic neuralgia. Judy Simmons reported that he had resigned from the Presidency of the Wash-I-Bagos. His doctor had cautioned him to avoid stressful situations as much as he could until he was healed.

The Whale s Tale Page 3 of 9 Vice Presidents Report John Phillips gave the report for our current Vice President, Frank Kukuk, who had headed south to Arizona. John reviewed all of the proposed outings for next year that Frank had developed. Specific dates and sites have not been set yet for a number of them. He noted that the June outing to Sun Country was scheduled from Sunday to Thursday rather than our usual Thursday to Sunday because both the RV sites and golf fees were less expensive during the week. He suggested that we consider adding a caravan along the Oregon Coast at the end of the State Meeting in September, which will be held near Olympia WA. Many of the members thought that was a great idea. He asked that everyone interested in an outing sign up on the outing sheets that were available on a table in the back of the room. Secretary s Report Judy said she had solicited and received quotes from caterers for the December 5th Christmas Party. Copies of the quotes were available for review. She said a decision would be made soon on the caterer and food. She also proposed 2 punch drinks for the Dec 5th Party: 1 with liquor that had been used at previous Christmas Parties and 1 without that was used last year. Treasurer s report Nadine Guidry, our current treasurer, reported that the following bank account information is accurate as of the October 31, 2015 bank statement and club records: Checking $2,117.66 Outings Savings $ 420.02 Charity Savings $ 45.13 Total on deposit as of October 31,2015: $3,282.81 Past Presidents Reports None of the past presidents in attendance had anything to report. COMMITTEE REPORTS Membership Report Judy Simmons stated that we currently have 42 families with coaches. Our newest members are: Pete and Mitzi Kerwien who joined us at Sun Country outing Gordon Mau and Dee Jobe who joined us at NWRR Glenn and Beverly Madawi who also joined at NWRR She reminded everyone that our 2016 Membership Dues of $15 should be paid to Nadine before the end of the year. Sunshine Report Sue Dakis said that she had sent out cards to those whom she knew were ill.

The Whale s Tale Page 4 of 9 Merchandise Report Nadine said that there had been no change since last month. We still have the following items available: Ladies turquoise polo Size 2xl Ladies heather gray sweatshirt Size 2xl Additional merchandise items on hand and costs are as follows: San Juanderers Flags, size 12x18 (9) $16.00 San Juanderers Baseball style caps (5) $15.00 San Juanderers WIT Chapter lapel pins (4) $ 6.00 We also have two dark turquoise jackets with the San Juanderers logo on both the front and back. The back includes 3 large embroidered orca whales. They were donated to the club by previous members. We plan to auction them off at the Christmas Party. Charity Report Sharon Carpenter, our current Charity Chair was not present, but she told Judy that there had been no donations made since we contributed to the disaster fund for Chelan County residents affected by the fires. Newsletter Report Judy Stern was not present, but she asked that everyone submit their contributions to the Newsletter before the 20 th of each month. Nominating Committee A nominating committee consisting of Mary Everest, Nadine Guidry and Dee Jobe was formed at the NWRR. They contacted prospective candidates and proposed the following slate of Officers for 2016: President: Judy Simmons Vice President: John Phillips with Mary Everest Secretary: Dee Jobe Treasurer: Nadine Guidry UNFINISHED BUSINESS New Website Mary Everest proposed that we change the host for our website from Fat Cow to Wild Apricot effective the end of the year. The cost is $40 if paid monthly or $384 per year when paid in advance (a 20% discount). Judy seconded the motion and recommended that we pay annually as we will need and use the website for at least a year. Nadine asked if there was any discussion. Gordon Mau asked if she had considered establishing a Google Group as he thought it would do everything that we needed and would be free. Mary said that she wasn t familiar with Google Groups and asked if he could develop a mock up by morning for us to look at. He said he didn t think he could do it that quickly. Bart Cronin made a motion that we investigate the Google Groups suggested by Gordon. Mary pointed out that we had to move off of Fat Cow by the end of the year and she had no time to investigate another alternative web hosting site. No one else volunteered to do the investigation.

The Whale s Tale Page 5 of 9 Judy noted The that Whale s the annual cost Tale for Wild Apricot was Page less than 5 $90 of more 5 per year than our current host, which is very difficult to work with and impossible to change. Wild Apricot provides lots of templates that simply need to be filled out as well as training and help files. It also supports public and private files. Mary said she has been moving her garden club website over to Wild Apricot and therefore gained quite a bit of experience with it. She developed a minimum San Juanderers website for Ben and Judy to look at in October. They both thought that it looked very good if we could retain our web site address: SanJuanderes.org Mary said she had just finished making a similar arrangement for her garden club website and felt that it could also be done for San Juanderers. Mary amended her motion to subscribe to Wild Apricot web hosting services and to pay them on an annual basis effective immediately. Judy Simmons seconded the motion. The motion was passed. NEW BUSINESS Election of Officers Nadine read the proposed slate of officers and asked 3 times if there were any other candidates or volunteers from the floor for each office position. No one volunteered or was nominated. It was moved, seconded and agreed that the proposed slate would be approved by acclamation. Christmas Party Judy encouraged everyone to attend our Christmas party on December 5 th at the Big Fir Country Club in Mt. Vernon. Dinner cost will be $20 per person and may be paid at the event. Happy Hour will start at 4:30 and Dinner will be served at 5:30 Cheryl Rodewald said that she had invited the Roy Robinson people but didn t know yet how many would be coming as the Evergreen Winnies set their Christmas party for the same night. Judy said that we will have the usual $20 gift exchange moderated by Mary Everest. Everyone draws a card from a deck that determines the order in which they can choose a gift. After the first gift is chosen, each subsequent person must decide if they want to pick a new gift or steal one from another guest. Each gift can be stolen a limited number of times. Everyone is also encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy or toys for children. Cheryl and Tom Rodewald will take them to a local organization that distributes toys to children of less fortunate families November Birthdays & Anniversaries Judy read the list of November birthdays and anniversaries Good of the Order No suggestions were made for members to consider. Adjourn A motion to adjourn was made and seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 6:30 Respectfully submitted, Judy Simmons
