Educators Corner I want to thank Tommy Brown for filling in for me at the meeting. I know the meeting was a getaway for many who had their live hit hard by the ice storm. I was not hit so hard so I wanted to get my place cleaned up and find out just how much damage I had, Tommy addressed all the debris (limbs, wires, etc) left on the roadways by the storm and clean-up. This is a very hazardous situation. Limbs will roll out from under your tires and cause sudden unexpected movements of your bike and could lead to loss of control. Please Be Careful. Last month I discussed the Level s Program Level 1. I had planned to visit each level as a series and that I will continue next month. If you have not enrolled in the Level Program the Chapter needs you to let me know and I will complete the paper work for you and send to Bill McBride. Level 1 only requires you say you will always ride with safety in mind. Those who have e-mail can contact me at scootermilligan@yahoo.com or call me on my cell (870) 926-0972. As always Be Safe, Enjoy the Ride Bobby and Mitzi Milligan Chapter Educators Looking in the Rear-View Mirror Just a little Ice Let me start off by saying we are a few days late getting the newsletter out. Just a little Ice has sure slowed everything down in NE Arkansas. We were 5 days and 4 nights without power, and consider ourselves lucky. We have Chapter D members who were told to expect power in 6 weeks. We were glad to see those members at our Chapter gathering February 1st. In spite of all the trials of being without power due to the Ice Storm, My heart was warmed by the stories of help and kindness that spread throughout our GWRRA family. Art and Faye Reece told me that Fred May not only found them a generator, but also delivered it. I think things like that are why Fred and Sandra are our Chapter Couple. The crowd was a bit off for our February meeting. Considering we were in the middle of an ice storm that was described as looking like a WAR ZONE, and the President declared a federal emergency, I was very proud to see 19 members at the meeting. I fully understand some members had pressing home and family needs. Well, now it s time to move past the storm, and start looking forward to spring and the opportunities GWRRA provides for us to enjoy each other s company.

GOLD WING ROAD RIDERS ASSOCIATION ARKANSAS Arkansas District Directors director@argwrra.org Dale & Carolyn Frieden www.argwrra.org 10647 Cowger Lane Phone: 479-229-3370 Dardanelle, Arkansas 72834 Spring is just around the corner and it won t get here to soon for me. I am already tired of winter. The last winter storm that went through the Midwest this week leaving our roads and trees iced over reminded me of how nice it will be when spring finally arrives. Of course spring brings with it the start of the rally season. In fact the first day of spring will occur during our first rally this year. Region H will kick off the rally season March 19 th 21 st in Marshall, TX. So let s all get out and ride Southwest into Texas in full support of Johnny & Mildred Glasscock as they participate in the Region H Couple of The Year selection. It is very rewarding and calming while on the stage to look out into the crowd into a sea of friendly faces who are cheering you on. So let s all let Johnny & Mildred know how much they are loved by giving them a lot of Arkansas support at the Couple of the Year selection. And of course, there will be lots of vendors in attendance showing the latest and greatest must have items we all can t live without. So, make your plans now and let s kick off the 2009 rally season with Gusto. Until next time, ride safe and Ride With Pride. Dale & Carolyn Our Goals Train our members to reduce risk. Improve motorcycling image. To increase motorist awareness Our Motto Friends for Fun, Safety, and Knowledge

Honda Hoot 2009 Cancelled AHM - 12/19/2008 Torrance, California-American Honda announced today that the 2008 Honda Hoot will bring to a close 15 years of what has been one of the most successful motorcycle rallies in history. Over the years, almost a quarter of a million guests attended the Honda Hoot which was born in the hills of Asheville, North Carolina and eventually moved to Knoxville, Tennessee. At the first event, a little over 3000 attendees enjoyed what would grow to become one of the largest rallies in North America. The Hoot set new precedence for what a motorcycle rally should be, offering not only a wonderful opportunity to test ride new products but also focusing on family fun and growing the industry from the ground up. Based on the current economic crunch which may have significant impact on our customers during 2009, American Honda will take this time to seek out new and innovative ways to engage with our customers so that we can continue to ride together. American Honda extends our deepest gratitude to the more than 1,300 volunteers who helped make the Honda Hoot a success and to all our event sponsors, to our two host cities, Knoxville, Tennessee and Asheville, North Carolina, and especially to all the good people who helped make the Hoot such a great event.
