With the very COLD crisp fall air, and a few of those white flakes floating to the ground, it s beginning to feel a lot like Skimas! That s the time of year, that out thoughts turn to getting ready to hit the slopes, and the stores, for a Holiday, and not just at the Valley, Season! If any of you are like me, and like the idea of sitting at your kitchen table, in your jammies, with a cup of coffee in one hand, the phone in the other, placing orders with Santa to have most of your Christmas shopping delivered to your door, well then SCOL has some perfect gift ideas for us! It s not too late, you can still buy your Ultimate Pass to Holiday Valley on-line. Just go to https:// ecommerce.holidayvalley. com/grouplogin, type in the Club Name: MW SCOL, then the Member Password: scolski. Done! You just bought yourself the first gift of the Season! Next up, give Sheila Flanagan a call at 870-2686 to order this year s Entertainment Book. That s the gift that truly last all year, has something for everyone s taste, and best of all, it fits perfectly! No Boxing Day lines to stand in to return this gift. OK, now your thinking a new coat. A new ski coat is on someones list (Editors note - I take a small) and you don t have time to search the racks, or find a parking spot at the mall. Great News! All the latest fashions can be seen, right before your eyes, in a warm and friendly setting, with a drink (this time) in your hand, at the SCOL meeting on Wednesday Night, as Snowflake Ski Shop / 245 Boardshop will be presenting a Fashion Show. So, you ve gone on-line, picked up the phone, and had a personal runway show to make the Skimas Season easy peasy for you! But wait! What did I hear you thinking? You still have that need to hit the slopes, oops, I mean stores? Well lucky for you, and us SCOLers, Linda & Bob O Donnell have once again opened their home to an (See SKIMAS con t on PAGE 3)

Message from the President Bill Fekete Hello SCOLers!!! We are finally seeing some weather that reminds us that ski season is upon us. The long range forecasts for the North East is colder and wetter than normal November and December. Hopefully this translates to BIG lake effect snowfalls. As this snow starts to fall please let s be careful on the road. Before we can get on the hills we have to get safely to the hills. LETS GO SKIING!!! and snow boarding!!! With the Holiday Season upon us it s time to reflect on things for which we are Thankful. I would like to thank all of our Veterans for their service! SCOL members have many things to be thankful for; Great Friends, Great Events, Lake Effect Snow, Fabulous Local Ski Areas, but most of all members willing to volunteer their time. I would like to thank all the people who stepped up to chair club events and functions. Without people volunteering their time none of what we do would be possible. We have already had a very successful SCOL event for the season!! BIG THANKS TO JOE AND MELISSA KUBIS for the comedy club fundraiser. Great comedians and a good SCOL turnout means a good time, as always! As the season begins it is time to make sure all of your equipment is in order. Don t forget to pick up some SCOL business cards to put in your gear bag to pass out to new friends met in the lodge and on the hill. As always SCOL swag turns heads at the ski areas. Don t forget this month s meeting is the annual Snow Flake Ski Shop and Two Four Five Board Shop s fashion show. Don t miss it. Thanks to Ellie and Bonnie for sponsoring this event. The season is really going to get rolling this month and I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! Be safe and enjoy. Please take the time to be Thankful for all we have and consider those not as fortunate. Hope to see everyone at the meeting and as always SKI ya later. Reminder, your next trip payment of $500 is due at this months meeting. All trip balances are due on or before the January 17th meeting. Kudos to the Kubis s FRIDAY - OCTOBER 27, 2017 For the second year, over 90 SCOLers and their guests, attended the FUN-raiser Comedy Night at Rob s Comedy Playhouse in Amherst. And much to our surprise, the headlining Comedian was Rob Lederman himself. I have to admit, (yup, that s me the Editor) I m not a huge fan of his, but he was much funnier than you hear on the radio. I actually had a good belly laugh when he spotted the new spokesperson for Elderwood SKInor Living, again, with much to our surprise, fellow SCOL member Rusty Fogle! His new posters are hot off the press and now ready for distribution. Rob Lederman was so impressed by our Clubs desire to raise funds to have fun, he auctioned off what started out as 1-group of 12 tickets to a show, to 2-groups of 12 tickets to a show, all thanks to a spirited bidding war that Dave Knab and Carol Fournier both won! In addition to a laugh-filled night, there were about a dozen baskets raffles, and a 50/50 that was over $200 to winner Mary Laverty. Many thanks go to Joe & Melissa Kubis for once again putting the night together. It raised over $1900 for the Club! The jokes on you if you didn t go! If you have NOT PAID your 2017-18 SCOL Membership Dues yet... This will be the LAST Newsletter you will receive! Your e-mail address will be deleted from any future mailings of Club Activities and/or Events! And you will no longer have any good reading material in the power room either. 5
