BOW TIMES 2304 Mayfield Dr., Round Rock, Texas 78681 http://www.centraltexasclassicchevyclub.org Volume 28 Number 11 November 2006 Established in 1979 to encourage the restoration and preservation of all series and models of 1955, 1956 and 1957 Chevrolets, including Corvettes and Trucks. MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR THE NEXT MEETING Dinner meeting Thursday, November 16 at Ronnie and Robin Raben s home 4000 Rockledge Dr. Dinner at 6:30 PM, meeting at 7:30. MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT Fall is now here. Shorter days and cool nights are the norm. I don t know how you feel but I enjoy winter for the most part. I always plan to get my car duties done during winter so that I am not hot and sweaty while doing them. I have just about completed my barn stall addition so now I can get back to work on my car/truck projects. We had our last meeting at Ryan s and the attendance was light again. Only a few from south of the river were there. Traffic was terrible as usual. Those members that attended enjoyed a good meal and good fellowship. A main point of the business meeting was that the 06 officers were voted to stay on for 07 in order to maintain stability for planning Lonestar XXV. Pat - thanks for agreeing to stay on as secretary for next year. I know you were wanting to retire! No Sunday club cruise was planned for October. Pam and I are planning to go to Fredericksburg next weekend (11/3-5) in order to meet and mingle with the Classic Chevy Club of Houston. We will arrive Friday evening since Pam is working. Everyone attending stays at the Sunday House motel (830) 997-4484. It is right on 290 east of downtown. It is a good time! Come join us! Speaking of good time, next month s meeting is being held at Ronnie and Robin s house in Far West Austin. Ronnie and Robin have hosted a fall meeting for the last couple of years and it is great! Good food and good friends! Can t ask for anything more. Bring lawn chairs and something edible to pass. More info later. BTW - Lonestar XXV is six months away! Plans should be done and budgets should be defined. We need to get the show registration form completed ASAP since fellow Chevy people are making their 07 vacation plans now. 1

Hope to see you soon! Tom MINUTES FROM THE LAST MEETING CTCCC Meeting held 7:30 PM October 19, 2006 at Ryan s Steakhouse on Parmer Lane. Twenty-one members were present. President Tom Porter called the meeting to order Old Business Minutes of the last meeting were accepted as printed in the newsletter. In Kay s absence, Dan Bowen read the treasurer s report and it was approved. There was a brief discussion about whether a scholarship had been awarded this past spring. Since Kay was absent from the meeting, no conclusion was reached. It was mentioned that Hill Country Street Rods would be going to Gary Job Corps and anyone from the club was invited. Several of the members had been to Good Guys and had a good time. A few had attended the Super Chevy show and were disappointed. New Business The Christmas Party was discussed. The Radisson at Highland Mall would furnish a traditional Christmas Buffet or we could order from a select menu for $25. They would furnish a room with a dance floor and a microphone free. The Marriott at Round Rock wanted $40 per person. A restaurant at Walburg was $15.95 Friday night with a band, $12.95 Sunday night, but no band. The members passed two motions, one to have the Christmas Party December 3 and another to have it at the Radisson. (Those plans have since changed due to a scheduling conflict). Dan Bowen offered a poster he was selling on the internet to club members for $10 and he would donate $3 of that to the scholarship fund. The Houston Chevy Club is going to be at Fredericksburg the weekend of Nov 2-4. They will meet at the Salt Lick for Lunch on Friday. Dan said he had planned to host the clubs at his place on Friday, but their new grandson is having serious surgery November 1, so those plans have been cancelled. He said that if everything goes well they will try to meet the Houston Club. Lone Star T-shirt. Garry passed around examples for imprint on t-shirts and asked for votes. A black background was suggested. Security for Lone Star. Round Rock police want $50 per hour for each officer. Dan suggested that we offer to donate $200 to another car club to provide security. Jeff Campbell said that he thinks he can get two Elgin police officers two nights for $200. We need trophy costs. Jim Rankin is going to be the DJ so there will be no expense for music. Jeff is expecting to get four sponsors at $100 each and is hoping to get more. Arnold Oil Co. (A-Line Auto Parts) will furnish goodie bags and fill them as well as door prizes. Covered parking in the vicinity is practically non existent. There is a possibility of using the parking garage one mile away downtown at the Round Rock Visitors Bureau. It was suggested that we do not advertise it just say we think it will be available in case of emergency. The security will need to go there. 2

A shuttle to outlet Mall for ladies would cost $80 - $90 per hour. Zeke suggested renting a van like they did at Lone Star XIII. Tom asked whether we should have Friday night hot dogs around the pool or plan a cruise to Walburg. Walburg was chosen. Nominations of officers for next year. Dan suggested that since Lone Star is upon us that the same officers stay in office. The members present at the meeting agreed. The next meeting is at the Rabens. Attendees need to bring lawn chairs and a side dish. The upcoming car show in Bastrop was discussed. A motion was passed to adjourn. Respectfully submitted, Pat Corbell.
