SILENT RETREAT INFORMATION PACKET June 16-18, 2017 7550 E. Hwy 106, Union, Washington 98592 (360) 898-2362 CONTENTS: 1. Location and Accommodations 2. Meals, Snacks and Beverages 3. Retreat Schedule 4. Arrival, Carpooling and Parking 5. Directions 6. Contact Information 7. Items to Bring with You

1. Location and Accommodations Location Our retreat is being held at St. Andrew s House, which is located in Union, Washington on the Hood Canal. St. Andrew s House is owned and operated by the Diocese of Olympia, the Episcopal Church of Western Washington, and has been providing a serene and magical haven for individuals and groups for over 50 years. Our host is Dan Oberg, Director of St. Andrew s Retreat Center since September 2016. This beautiful retreat center is nestled on a 7-acre site with incredible views of the Hood Canal and the Olympic Mountains. Accommodations Rooms are not assigned. They will be selected by the retreat participants on a first-come, first-served basis upon arrival. Each participant will have a private room located in the Main Lodge. If you have mobility needs, please contact Christina or Donna to make appropriate arrangements. The Main Lodge has 12 separate bedrooms. The bedrooms vary in size from one, two, three, four or five beds. For this retreat each bedroom will have only one person in it. Bathrooms are in the hallway outside of the bedrooms for all to share. Linens are provided for all beds, including a lovely quilt that was handmade by the devoted women of the Diocese of Olympia. You will receive one towel and a wash cloth. There are extra towels if necessary. You should bring all of your own toiletries, including your own soap and shampoo. There are no televisions or telephones in the guest rooms. In addition we are asking all participants to leave all technology at home including cell phones, ipads, computers, etc. If you bring your cell phone please note that use of your cell phone is limited to your car in the parking lot. We request that no technology including cell phones be used during the Silent Retreat as a courtesy to everyone participating. We will gather for our opening circle in the Chapel meeting room. It is a beautiful setting with large windows and vaulted ceilings, and of course, amazing views. 2. Meals, Snacks and Beverages All of our meals will be prepared in-house by the St. Andrew s chef and kitchen staff. We will eat together in the dining room at the designated times on the schedule. St. Andrew s offers homemade entrees, freshly baked breads and their own desserts. They also provide locally-sourced, organic meat, produce and other food items whenever possible.

Coffee, tea and bottled water will be provided at any time all weekend. If you would like to bring snacks or non-alcoholic beverages (the retreat is alcohol-free) to have with dinner or anytime during the weekend, please feel free to do so. We ask that you keep snacks in the pantry, which also includes a refrigerator. The kitchen staff will be able to accommodate food allergies, including gluten and dairy intolerance, so please be specific (if there are any food requests that the staff needs to be aware of) when you are completing the registration information form that is attached to this email. Return your registration form to Gayle Macy or bring to the Seattle Unity Church Office. Please mark it for the Goddess Silent Retreat. We need this information by June 8 th in order to give St. Andrews the dietary information for their planning purposes. Thank you. 3. 4. Arrival, Carpooling and Parking We recommend that you arrive between 4:00 and 5:00 on Friday for check-in. Checkout is planned for 1:00 on Sunday after lunch. If possible, it is recommended that you take either the 1:30 pm ferry or the 3:00 pm ferry from Seattle to Bremerton. The ferry crossing is one hour and the drive from Bremerton to St. Andrew s is approximately 45 minutes. Taking the 1:30 ferry will get you to St. Andrew s at about 3:30 pm and the 3:00 pm ferry will get you there at about 5:00 pm.. Upon receipt of your completed Registration Form, we will help coordinate carpools if you need a ride. It is recommended that you carpool so that you can share in the cost of the ferry and gas. Also, it is more fun to take the journey with one or two others rather than go alone. If you are a driver, there is ample parking at St. Andrew s. 5. Directions St. Andrew's House is an hour and 45 minute drive from downtown Seattle (including the ferry ride) or a 40 minute drive from Olympia. If you are taking the ferry, click on the link for the ferry schedule and other information. http://www.wsdot.com/ferries/schedule/scheduledetailbyroute.aspx?route=se a-br FROM SEATTLE BY FERRY:

Take ferry from downtown Seattle to Bremerton. Once you've landed and drive off the ferry the road takes you through a tunnel which puts you onto Burwell. Take Burwell for about 3 miles until you reach the T and turn left onto W304. Follow the road until there is a divide, keep in right hand lane, signs will read Belfair and Shelton on SR3 (South). Follow signs to Belfair and Bremerton National Airport. Go past the airport and continue thru Belfair. Turn right on SR 106 toward Union. Continue on SR 106 for approximately 13 miles. St. Andrew's House is 5 miles past Twanoh State Park and is opposite the waterside/on left just after the Olympic Vista sign and just before you reach Alderbrook Resort and Spa. FROM SEATTLE THROUGH TACOMA: Take I-5 south to Tacoma; past Tacoma Dome take exit to Highway 16 West across Narrows Bridge toward Bremerton. At Gorst take left hand exit to Highway 3 South to Belfair/Shelton and turn left at the light. After going (with slight left) through Belfair take right at light to Union/Port Angeles (Highway 106). Go about 11 miles, and just before Alderbrook take a left turn up the hill at St. Andrews House sign. 6. Contact Information If you have questions before the retreat, please ask. It is important that all your needs are addressed and met to insure the success of your experience and that of the group. Please direct all inquiries before the retreat to Donna or Christina. Contact Person Email address Cell Phone Donna Hutchinson dohutchinson@gmail.com 585-703-1505 Christina Lee christinalee77@gmail.com 206-450-4799 If someone needs to get through to you during the retreat, please give him/her Dan Oberg s phone number (509-670-1666) and a message will be delivered to you.
