We have had our first very well attended road trip to the World of Speed Museum in Wilsonville. I have a short list of club members that want to attend the Portland Roadster Show at the Portland Expo Center on Saturday March 17 February 2009, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. General admission is $16.00 and parking $8.00 or $7.00 for carpools. We will try to organize a carpool of one or more cars. I will check on available discounts on admission from Les Schwab and let you know about that. If you re interested in going let me know by E-mail and if you are willing to drive let me know that also. We should leave about 8 a.m. I got a show of hands as to who at the February meeting was interested in a two to four-day road trip this summer down to Gold Beach and the Rogue River area with a trip on the Rogue River Jet Boats. The general route I have in mind would be from Eugene to Grants Pass to Cave Junction to the Oregon Caves and a tour of the caves. From the caves we would head back to Cave Junction and on to Crescent City and then north up the coast to Gold Beach. The next day at Gold Beach we would take a half day trip on the Jet Boats up the Rogue River. Upon return from the river trip the option would be to leave for Eugene, a 4-hour drive, or spend another night and head home the next day. I have done this trip or versions of it multiple time since moving to Oregon 45 years ago. I have done the jet boat trip by starting at 5 in the morning and returning to Eugene by midnight with 9 of my close relatives in the suburban. I have done it by starting on a Friday afternoon and spending the first night at Grants Pass and two more nights on the road. I actually planned this trip for the club back in 2005 or 6 and when I had it all planned and rooms blocked out only one other car was able to make the trip so we canceled. At the time I think we were planning a three-day weekend. All of us were younger and working so we did not have a lot of options. The consensus at the meeting was that of the river trips available a version that was the least expensive and would take the shortest time would be preferred to a longer trip that takes the whole day. Some of the river trips include a stop for lunch which is preferred but not included in the cost of the boat ride. After the ½ day boat trip there is enough time to leave and get back to Eugene. In recent board meetings we have discussed having trips like this on mid week days to make it easier to book rooms and to avoid the heavy traffic especially along the coast. We realize that some of our members cannot just take off from work for a 3 day road trip so we, me and the board, need some feedback. If 4 or 5 couples who are still employed want to go and are able to leave on Friday afternoon and return Sunday night we can figure out a way to do it and maybe not do the Oregon Cave part of the trip. If 7 or 8 of our no longer employed members want a more leisure trip with less traffic it will make the planning easier to fit around the many other weekend activities that take place in the summer months. Let me or the board members know your thoughts about this trip and if you want to help me plan this trip let me know.

VETTE GAZETTE Valley River Corvette Show 2018 The Cascade Corvette Club will once again be displaying our Corvette s inside the Valley River Shopping Mall on April 14 th & 15 th 2018. We will move our cars into the mall on Friday night April 13 th after our general meeting around 9:00pm. after the mall stores close. This is a Corvette display not a judged show, so we want to encourage all of our members to display their cars. This is a great opportunity to show the general public the different generations of Corvettes and to let other Corvette owners know about our club. We also need members help in supervising the cars inside the mall during mall hours. Please contact Gerry or Connie Swartz if you would like to display your Corvette. Phone 541 688-2654 E-mail conswartz@msn.com There will be sign-up sheets at both the March and April general meetings for members to sign up to work the show. As a general reminder, all gas tanks need to have a quarter of a tank of gas or less. (Mall security and/or the City of Eugene Fire Department will be checking gas levels as we enter the mall.) No cleaning products are allowed inside the mall, cars need to be cleaned, polished and shined before entering the mall. Towels for drying off your car in case of rain are permitted. Valentine s Day Dinner Once again, the food, drinks and service at Willy s Lebanese & Northwest Cuisine was exceptional. Because we were down in attendance this year, we were able to set-up the seating differently and the change was much better for conversation at your table. Thanks to Willy s and the club members who were able to attend this year. Special thanks go to Gerry & Connie who handled all the arrangements and decorated the tables. Please remember to bring your Matchbox Corvette donations to the March 9 meeting! World of Speed Museum

VETTE GAZETTE Misc. Notes Recently we have received info & registration for two upcoming events: Photos from the World of Speed Museum and lunch Corvettes on the Columbia, June 1-2 Click here for registration Fall Classic 2018, Jacksonville, Sept. 8 Click here for registration At this time, there is no planned group participation at Corvettes on the Columbia this year. However, if there is enough interest and anyone wants to go, plans could be set in motion. I know Beaver State Corvette Club plans on attending, maybe we could make it a combined caravan? Discussion at the March 9 meeting. (COTC is the next weekend following Big Sky Meet in Montana) The Fall Classic, hosted by Rogue Valley Corvette Club, is an event that many of us have missed over recent years due to conflicts with Oregon and Oregon State football schedules. This year on Sept. 8, Oregon plays Portland State and Oregon State hosts Southern Utah, both are home games. Fall Classic is an open car show, all makes & models welcome, that is restricted to the first 180 cars registered. Held in Jacksonville, OR. Discussion at the March 9 meeting. Reminder - Corvettes on the High Desert, Eagle Crest, OR is restricted to the first 125 Corvettes registered. We have heard recently that they are already close to 100. Find their registration form in this newsletter and act quickly if you want to attend this fun event in beautiful Central Oregon!! No Board Meeting in March
