Attendees are encouraged to depart the Columbia Morningside campus at 5:30pm (on 10/12/18) and make their way via the NYC subway or Taxi/Lyft/Uber to the meeting point at the 9/11 Memorial Museum by 6:30pm (the start time for the tour), where they will be guided by a WACP tour coordinator. Attendees are encouraged to buy tickets to the Museum and Observatory (optional) in advance. 9/11 Museum Location: 180 Greenwich Street Located within the original site of the World Trade Center, Ground Zero, the 9/11 Memorial and Museum pay homage to victims and first responders of the tragedy of the 9/11 terrorist attack. The 9/11 Memorial consists of a human-made waterfall cascading into reflecting pools, constructed in the original footprints of the Twin Towers. The names of the victims are etched in bronze around the two pools.
The National 9/11 Memorial Museum tells the story of 9/11 through artifacts, personal narratives, and interactive technology. Here you will hear stories from first responders and learn about the aftermath of the tragedy. Attendees will also find part of the wall originally built to hold back the Hudson River and the remnants of columns that formed the exterior structure of the Twin Towers. Attendees are encouraged to monitor the weather prior to their departure, but as it will be autumn in New York, it may be appropriate to bring a coat to make sure you are comfortable while walking outdoors. Can I see all three sites in one evening? In order to complete all three excursions in the same evening, attendees are encouraged to visit them in the following order: 9/11 Museum, World Trade Center Observatory, and 9/11 Memorial. Tour Coordinator: TBA Midtown Tour Info: WACP 2018 attendees will have the opportunity take a guided walking tour of Bryant Park, Times Square, Broadway s Theater District, Radio City Music Hall, Rockefeller Center, Madison Square Garden, Herald Square, and Rockefeller Plaza, with the option to ascend to the Rockefeller Plaza Observatory. Attendees should depart the Columbia Morningside campus by 5:30pm (on 10/12/18) and make their way via the NYC subway or Taxi, Lyft or Uber to the meeting point in Bryant Park (entrance on 6 th Ave and West 41 st St) by 7:00pm (the tour start time), where they will be met by a WACP tour coordinator. Attendees are encouraged to buy tickets to the observation deck at the Top of the Rock (30 Rockefeller Plaza) in advance; all tickets are subject to availability.
