Shedd August s full visitor count = 6,422 September s partial visitor count = 2,418 (As of Sept. 23rd) Final Summer Stats: 32 Alaska State Park Passes were sold 44 Kids participated in the Sportsman s Warehouse sponsored Fishing Rod Loan Program 830 Soldotna coupons (KPTMC Passport) were redeemed, so far 57 Geocachers logged in and found our cache Funny Visitor-ism: I saw a flower on the way to Soldotna. Can you tell me what it was? No one comments in January on how quickly the winter has passed, so I will refrain from commenting on how the summer went speeding by. Although, I will comment on what a fantastically, busy summer it was! We were fully staffed in the visitor center beginning Memorial Weekend with our five summer staffers working 9-7pm, seven days a week. Our last fully staffed weekend was before Labor Day. We are now operating under winter hours of 9-5pm, Monday through Friday. We had visitors from 54 different countries, six continents, seven Canadian Provinces, three Australian States, and from all 50 US States. Would you believe we had more Alaskan visitors than visitors from any other state? The First and Second runners up are awarded to Florida and Texas. Welcome Melodie! Soldotna Chamber of Commerce - Events Coordinator melodie@soldotnachamber.com My name is Melodie Allen and I am a lifelong Alaska resident, born in Anchorage and raised in Soldotna since the age of 9. I love our small town and close community. My husband, Shawn and I raised our three daughters, ages 7-19 right here on the peninsula and love calling this beautiful area home. I ve worked in many of the local restaurants & businesses and eventually turned my passion of food and entrepreneurship into a way of life for nearly 10 years. I am the former owner of Odie s and it was truly an honor serving many of you all those years. I love all things food, wine, cooking, outdoors, kayaking, hiking, fishing, traveling, being active and spending time with my family & friends. After a year living out of state and enjoying some down time, I am excited to be back and to be an active part of the community.
