Route Composition Wild Croc Route The Wild Croc route is based on the original Croc2Croc concept each stage is epic and Xtreme MTB pleasure. Special attention is paid to the route surface to ensure that the entire route is ridable to all riders that are well conditioned with solid climbing and descending skills not for first timers, the inexperienced or faint-hearted! Wild Croc contenders will experience non-stop challenges on arguable one of the most spectacular and versatile MTB trails in the country Mild Croc Route The Mild Croc route has been designed for MTBers that have been contemplating for too long about entering their first stage event it is not too technical, not too far or too short, and definitely not too easy It shares the beauty of the surrounds with the Wild Croc route and the two routes are never more than a couple of kays apart in distance and height! The Mild Croc is also for MTBers who have done it all, who are fed-up with staying in crowded racing villages at the end of a long day in the saddle, MTBers who hate boring and corrugated district roads, and MTBers that do not like the seriously technical stuff. Total distance of combined routes: ~250 km
Day 1: Prologue - Mild & Wild Crocs Fun filled cycling along the Croc on river paths and on mountain tracks past trout ponds at Verlorenkloof and Donkerhoek, passing dairy and irrigation farms, and orchids in the valley. Mostly single track with limited farm roads inbetween. Some fast sections, but the short and steep climbs and river crossings will be challenging for all.
Day 2: Mountain & Dam Stage - Mild Croc Mountain Stage The Cow Shed Jeep Track and farm roads lead to valleys and ravines with spectacular scenery and views of the Kwena Basin. Mild Croc (Pink) route follows the basin s floor with no technical sections. Xtreme (Red) sections are optional for Mild Crocs. Dam Stage Dam Stage will be a flat n fast section while hugging the Kwena Dam and rivers. Expect ~75 km and ~1200 m of climbing
Day 2: Mountain & Dam Stage - Wild Croc Mountain Stage The Cow Shed Jeep and single tracks hug the mountain and only leave the foothills to cross gorges or visit refreshment stations. Wild Crocs must do all Xtreme (Red) sections. Dam Stage The Wild Croc brigade will have to dig deep and push the boundaries on what will turn out to be one of the most versatile, extreme and rewarding days on a MTB saddle! Total ascent will touch 2500 m while the 1 st 70 km includes enough technical sections for all
Day 3: Highlands Stage - Wild & Mild Crocs A mixture of Jeep Track, farm and forestry roads will take Crocs from Verlorenkloof to the trout ponds and mountain streams of the Highlands. Hairraising and breath-taking descend on the 150 year old Hennings Pass ox wagon trail Mild and Wild Crocs follow the same route except for compulsory Xtreme (Red) sections for Wild Crocs, including the Wagenbietjieshoek Jeep Track, the Highlands ascent via The Clubs and at Helvetia Wild and Mild Crocs have a time cut-off at Helvetia.
