GULF SOUTH SUMMIT 2016 April 13-15, 2016 Coastal Georgia Center Savannah, GA Come to Savannah for the 14th annual Gulf South Summit. Keynote and breakout sessions will focus on inclusion and the critical need for diverse voices in our work. We ll be exploring the complexity of inclusive community development in Savannah, techniques for dialogue and deliberation as democratic practice, best practices in student leadership for civic engagement, and the latest in community-engaged scholarship. Join Us! Welcome to beautiful, historic Savannah! Savannah, established in 1733, is the oldest city in Georgia. A strategic port city in the American Revolution and during the American Civil War, Savannah is today an industrial center and an important Atlantic seaport. CONFERENCE Host and Venue Georgia Southern University The Coastal Georgia Center The Coastal Georgia Center, a component of the University System of Georgia and a unit of the Division of Continuing Education at Georgia Southern University, opened in the mid 1980 s, and has been a thriving venue ever since. An expansion project completed in 2003 has insured that our graduate programs continue to grow. The Coastal Georgia Center is operated by Georgia Southern University, in partnership with Armstrong Atlantic State University and Savannah State University. CONFERENCE Accommodations We have two conference hotels available, next door to one another and both an easy walk from the Coastal Georgia Center. Numerous other quality hotels are nearby, within the historic downtown area. Travel If you are flying, your airport is the Savannah Hilton Head International Airport, about 30 minutes taxi ride to the hotels. There is no hotel transfer, but taxis are readily available and will cost approximately $25. You will not need transportation once you arrive downtown, as many restaurants and attractions are within an easy walking distance.
