Letter from the President: Re: Group Riding The club voted at the last meeting to institute a new way of conducting our club rides for the upcoming season. When participating with other Scooter Clubs many of them have been using this method for years and it works very well. It is a simple idea but needs 100% cooperation for it to work On every ride you have a leader who knows the route and you follow them. When you come to a turn and if the people behind you are not there one person must pull over and wait for the others to catch up. Then you continue on. This concept works very well assuring that nobody will get lost. What this means is you must be aware and responsible for the person behind you at every turn so please check your mirrors and confirm someone is behind you before you make the turn and continue on. It also allows for when traffic and speeds fragment the group which has led to some getting lost or making wrong turns in the past. The ride leader will do his best, but when implementing this, it can make our rides safer through eliminating the sometimes difficult effort to maintain a group. Now all this may sound a bit confusing but it is very simple actually as long as you accept that you are responsible for the person behind you when you come to a turn in the route. This will only work if we have a 100% commitment I will gladly answer any questions or listen to any comments and input on this matter at paulrjones@usa.net or 313-605-3831 Respectfully Submitted by; Paul R. Jones
