In addition to the required state mandated programs, Foothills offers approximately 400 enrichment classes each semester. These classes cover a wide range of topic areas, including: Computer Training, Arts & Crafts, Health, Finance, Foreign Languages, Cooking, Self-Improvement and Recreation & Leisure. Certification courses are offered for Certified Nurses Aide, and Food Handlers. Certificate classes are offered in EKG, CPR/First Aid, and CT DEEP Basic Boating/Personal Watercraft Safety. Courses are marketed in a 56-page brochure, mailed in August and January to over 80,000 homes.

Community Services Residential Programs: Community Living Arrangements and Continuous Residential Supports: Provides 24-hour supervision for individuals with developmental disabilities. Residential homes are located in Newtown, Sandy Hook, and Torrington. In Home Supports: Promotes independence while providing long-lasting personalized supports. The focus is on community integration with the expectation that consumers will have something to offer the community in return. Day Services: Individual Day Supports (Vocational and non-vocational): Provides a personcentered model for day supports related to the acquisition, improvement, and retention of skills and abilities. Supported Employment (Group and Individual): Provides a person-centered model of employment supports. These supports may include skill development, needs assessment, community and work exploration, resume and interview supports, job development and placement supports, on-the-job training, and situational assessments. Senior Employment Program (Title V): A senior community employment services program, Title V, is a community and work-based training program for mature workers. It provides subsidized, part-time, community service work based training for limited-income persons aged 55 and older in order to increase employment prospects. Transportation TRED: Provides free transportation services to eligible Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) clients in northwestern Connecticut. Behavior Supports Program (BSP): The BSP Program provides adaptive daily living supports to DDS-qualified children, adolescents, and young adults, ages 8-21 years old, and their families. Our services include: advancing life and social skills, providing individualized extracurricular programming, developing and implementing behavior plans, and parent support and education.

Food Services The Food Services Department understands that today s student faces many challenges, both inside and outside the classroom. A fundamental need of all children and young adults for proper growth and development is good nutrition. Food Services works collaboratively with the Connecticut State Department of Education s Office of Child Nutrition and the School Nutrition Association to improve the health and education of children by creating innovative public and private partnerships that promote nutritious and healthy habits that last a lifetime. Program staff work closely with families to ensure that each child has the skills and knowledge necessary to be successful in kindergarten. Our goal is to lay the foundation for children and their families to be life-long learners. Head Start sites are located in New Milford, Plymouth, Torrington,, and Winsted. We also have School Readiness programs at our Torrington and Winsted sites. Early Head Start: Prenatal to Three Provides home-based services for expectant families and children ages birth to three that meet eligibility requirements. Services include weekly home visits which focus on health, nutrition, education, social services, and parent engagement. Playgroups are held each month at the Torrington and Winsted sites.

School Age Programs Our School Age Programs provide a state-licensed twelve-month program for children of elementary and middle school age. On-site before and after school programs, as well as full-day Summer Adventure Programs, offer a variety of enriching and quality experiences. Customized on-site professional development and technical assistance is offered for school districts and organizations. Our programs are conveniently located in school buildings; no transportation is required. Parents have peace of mind knowing their child receives quality, affordable care. These programs are funded by parent fees and require no additional funding from school districts. Scheduled activities include: enrichment programs, a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math) and Literacy component, projects, physical activities, quiet time, and structured homework time. Students have some choice in planning and implementing activities in which they want to participate. Nutritious snacks are provided daily. We Offer: On-site before and/or after school programs for students. Enrichment courses for elementary and middle school students. Customized professional development opportunities in your district/agency. Consulting and technical assistance provided to other programs. Full day summer programs for students. Our Summer Adventure Programs are currently offered in Newtown and Torrington. Each week is devoted to a different theme. Some of the activities consist of arts & crafts, science, indoor/ outdoor sports, multicultural activities, swimming, and field trips. Special Education and Related Services Special Education Services partners with K-12 school districts across the state to provide comprehensive and cost effective support that includes: programming, professional development, staffing, transportation, and individualized district needs. Program Options K-12 Academic/Therapeutic Outplacement Programs ACCESS provides outplacement programs at its Danbury and Torrington locations for K-12 students who experience challenges in a mainstream school setting. Short-term Diagnostic Services The Diagnostic Center provides comprehensive evaluations and educational programming to identify and plan for each student s academic and social developmental needs. Expelled Student Educational Programs This program provides full or partial year academic services for expelled students, customized to district needs. Summer Credit Recovery Programs Certified teaching staff at ACCESS provide tutoring in core academic areas and personalized instruction for credit recovery. Professional Development Special Education Services provides targeted professional development for special education and related service staff. Personnel Services We are available to provide one-stop service and handle the recruitment, employment screening, and hiring for you.

Transportation Services Our Transportation Services department specializes in transporting special needs students. We have a fleet of over 150 vehicles that we use for transportation. We presently provide transportation for 25 school districts and transport to 60 schools and programs within Connecticut. We provide safe, reliable, and cost effective transportation. We can provide significant cost reductions by combining runs with cooperating districts. We have two dispatch locations: one in Litchfield and one in Danbury.
