An important issue for resolution at this meeting is based on advice from the Department of Justice / Consumer Affairs Victoria, that the Associations Incorporations Act 1981 is to be replaced by the Associations Incorporation Reform Act 2012. Whilst the changes will not have any effect whatsoever on the day-to-day operation of our club, all members are encouraged to attend this meeting because, as an incorporated institution, we are obliged to vote on this new Act. 3 We held our first morning tea on Feb.28th this year for Relay for Life, thank you to everyone who sold raffle tickets, and attended. I must thank the owners of Uber Mama, for donating the dining voucher, and Tim Robinson for the wine. Our next one is coming up on Thursday 23rd May at Kay and Ian Champion s residence 13 Glaneuse Ave. It was great to see a mixture of members from all sections at our April meeting, where we all enjoyed a barbecue tea, followed by our guest speaker Ms. Tessa Davis. Tessa was a natural speaker and was very informative, on all aspects of first aid. I am quite sure that we all learnt something from her. Because the evening meeting was such a success, we might look at holding another one later on in the year. Donna Symes THE WANDERERS Next outing Oct/Nov to Port Fairy Big 4 Park. For further information, contact Marie or Bill on 5261 4142 or email 3mable@tpg.com.au Report from Shepparton. On 15 th and 16 th April, 30 intrepid travellers The Wanderers set off on their biannual get-away. This trip was to Shepparton in the Goulburn Valley, staying at the Park Lane Big 4 caravan park. Five caravans travelled and the remainder stayed in very comfortable on-site cabins. The first night 5 o clock Happy Hour followed by a group Bar-b-q was most successful, allowing all to renew old acquaintances and to meet some new friends. The next day was a car pool to Lake Victoria and a walk around the lake, followed by morning coffee at the Lake Café in very pleasant surroundings. The afternoon saw the first (and for some the last) round of the Petanque tournament, a regular and hotly competitive event, and after a break for lunch, the second (and for some others, the last) round of competition. After Happy Hour all travelled to The Shepparton Club for dinner where good food and fellowship were enjoyed, and for some an assortment of very dangerous desserts was consumed. Wednesday, all arose early for the traditional pancake breakfast, with such culinary accompaniments as diced banana, fruit salad, ice cream, cream and of course the old favourite maple syrup. The Petanque Grand Final then followed, and to say competitive would be an understatement. As the crowds gathered to watch and film crews set up equipment a deathly hush descended for the toss of the coin, won by the captain of the Yellow team, Peter S who along with his team of stalwarts went on to win the newly named Jo Biscombe Trophy. After lunch, a visit to Emerald Bank mini-golf,car Museum, and The Windmill Chocolate Café. The usual happy hour followed, then dinner continued the food theme. The last day was a mix of things to do with a lakeside walk for some or game of golf for others. A farewell dinner at Parklake Restaurant wound up the trip, and with that we said our goodbyes and look forward to our Spring trip. Our thanks go to Bill and Marie once again for their organisation of such an enjoyable trip. JT
