I believe it is a certain permission to be human, which other places, other countries, lost long ago. ~ Erica Jong

Day #3: Treasures of the Vatican Wednesday: June 24 th, 2015 Self Acceptance & True Strength Together we will move through poses honoring exactly who we are, including our physical, mental and emotional state, our imperfections and our shortcomings. We will find kindness in our hearts and patience in your minds to create a sense of acceptance for exactly who we are today. Some think being strong is to never feel pain but in reality the strongest people are those who are aware of it, feel it, understand it and accept it. Morning Practice - Hatha Yoga A.) B.) C.) D.) Scavi Tour This exclusive trip is not open to the general public. Two stories beneath St. Peter s basilica, we will visit a 2 nd century Pagan necropolis. See Michelangelo s Pieta, a significant number of other masterpieces, the body of Pope John XXIII, and the tombs of many Popes. The Roman Forum Visit Rome s ancient ruins, including the Senate Building, the temples of Saturn, Jupiter, the Vestals, and Julius Caesar. Back to Hotel Day s Recap with Restorative Yoga / Sitting Meditation Cena! (Dinner on your own) It s not only the physical beauty of the place It s the smell of it, the aura of great history in the stones of every street and every building. To be in Rome is to be in touch with everything in life that really matters. ~ William Murray in City of the Soul

Day #4: Escape into Paradise Thursday: June 25 th, 2015 Early Morning train departure for Positano We will train from Rome to Naples, and a private minivan will carry us for the rest of the journey to Positano. The Amalfi Coastline itself winds its way along scenic cliffs, following the Tyrrhenian Sea. For many, this is Paradiso in Terra or Paradise on Earth! Enjoy the panoramic views Pranzo (Lunch) An optional light lunch will be provided on the train Early afternoon arrival in Positano Hotel Pupetto is an absolute treat: a beachside resort with black volcanic stone that runs into the turquoise-blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea. Stroll the winding roads of Positano. Take a walk on the beach. There are great ceramic shops, high fashion clothing, and hiking. Positano is not a place to be busy seeing things. It is place to relax and allow nature s beauty to touch us in positive and happy ways. Don t forget to try a little limoncello along the way Orientation stroll and free afternoon Finding Your Salute Together we will breakdown the traditional Sun Salute sequence. Focusing on alignment, variations and modification to find the perfect salute for your body to honor the internal and external light. Finding a sequence we are comfortable with will enable us to bring our practice home, creating a sense of confidence and empowerment. Evening Practice - Hatha Yoga Day s recap with Restorative Yoga/Sitting Meditation Cena (Dinner) Sail away from the safe harbor: Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. ~ Mark Twain

Friday: June 26 th, 2015 Day#5: Capri-cious in Italy Intimacy with Life In today s practice we will focus on having intimacy with life, slowing down and sinking into appreciation of our senses. Not chasing the idea of happiness within wants and needs but being happiness, being content, having a choice and being that choice. Morning Practice - Hatha Yoga A.) Departure for the Island of Capri A private chartered boat will take us from Positano to the Island of Capri a one hour boat ride that offers magnificent views of the entire Amalfi Coast. Return to Positano D.) Free afternoon to enjoy the great outdoors, walk the beach, and explore this little slice of paradise. Enjoy your time on the Mediterranean Sea. Day s recap and Restorative Yoga / Sitting Meditation Cena! (Dinner)

Day #6: Mt. Vesuvius, Pompeii and Florence Saturday: June 27 th, 2015 Positive Growth During or practice we will focus on positive physical mental, emotional and spiritual growth. Seeing that the difference between who we are and who we want to be can be found in the things we do and the choices we make. This understanding will help us to reclaiming power and control over our lives. We will work on 3 key elements for positive growth: Courage, Devotion & Faith. Morning Practice - Hatha Yoga Early morning hotel departure A.) The Ruins of Pompeii A private mini-van will take us to Pompeii, which was first occupied in the 8th century BC. A local guide will explain how the Etruscans first dominated the surrounding region, followed by the Saminites who turned Pompeii into a Greek town. Finally the Romans gained control over Pompeii until its end, that fateful day in 79 AD when Mt. Vesuvius unleashed its fury on the 20,000 inhabitants of this thriving Roman city. Although this tragic event ended the lives of 20,000 Pompeian residents, the ash that buried the town served as a sort of mummification for the entire city. Under the ash everything remained as it was at the time of the eruption: Artwork was preserved. Buildings were preserved. Several important clues were left behind. These clues give us a glimpse into the past and capture a special moment in time. Pranzo (Optional picnic lunch on the train for Florence) Florence arrival and hotel check in A.) B.) C.) The Ponte Vecchio Ponte Vecchio literally means, The Old Bridge. This historic bridge that crosses the Arno River is laden with gold and diamond shops. Conveniently located just around the corner from our hotel, ladies this one s for you! Piazza Signoria This is Florence s central square. See the Palazzo Signoria (Florence s City Hall since the reign of the Medici s), the outdoor Loggia which contains ancient Roman and Greek statuary, as well as Celini s famous bronze of Persius holding Medusa s severed head. Santa Croce Church This wonderful medieval church is the final resting-place of Michelangelo, Machiavelli, Galileo, Rossini, and many others. Day s recap and Restorative Yoga with Sitting Meditation Cena! (Dinner!) Traveling is almost like talking with men of other centuries. ~ Rene Descartes

Day#7: Stepping up to the Plate in Florence Sunday: June 28 th, 2015 Daily Rituals Inspire yourself daily to live healthier. Our daily actions are what create our lives. By creating nourishing and supportive routines and personal rituals we are choosing to fuel our days with positive energy. Creating security, discipline and freedom. Morning Practice - Hatha Yoga The Accademia Museum Enjoy Michelangelo s monolithic and statue of David, from the Old Testament hall of fame. Also enjoy his famous series of Prisoners designed for the tomb of Pope Julius II in Rome. San Lorenzo farmer s market The San Lorenzo Mercato Centrale is the central market in Florence for fresh, local foods. Most likely you will see foods that you've never seen in a U.S. market before, like cow stomachs at the Tripperia. There are stands selling all kinds of fowl, meats (such as wild boar), fish, cheese, fruits and vegetables. Also of interest are shops selling local Tuscan products such as wine, biscotti, prosciutto and salami. The San Lorenzo outdoor shopping market Packed with stalls selling everything from marbleized paper products, to leather goods, jewelry and pottery, the San Lorenzo outdoor market is an exciting place to explore, people watch, and (of course) shop Duomo Cathedral Built in the Middle Ages, the original architects left it uncompleted in a sheer act of faith: A huge hole in its roof awaited a dome long before the technology existed to span such a distance. No Problema! Brunelleschi s dome eventually completed the structure, and became Michelangelo s model for St. Peter s Basilica in the Vatican and the model for the future U.S. Capitol as well. Dinner in private Tuscan villa with gelato making demonstration Tonight we dine at outside the city of Florence in a private Tuscan villa. Paolo has been friends with Roberto s family for many years, and they are pleased to host our party. Brace yourself for an incredible experience: a multi-course Italian feast that features homemade pasta, local meats, potatoes roasted in an outdoor oven, and Roberto s famous gelato which he will make before our eyes. Day s recap with Restorative Yoga / Sitting Meditation over dinner For us to go to Italy and to penetrate into Italy is like a most fascinating act of self-discovery back, back down the old ways of time. Strange and wonderful chords awake in us, and vibrate again after many hundreds of years of complete forgetfulness. ~ D.H. Lawrence

Day #8: A Di-Vine Day in Tuscany Monday: June 29 th, 2015 Enjoy wonderful Tuscan towns that stand frozen in time. Wind your way through medieval streets. Sit at a café and soak in the atmosphere Eternal Reflection As we observe ourselves and others throughout our daily lives may we begin to notice that everyone we encounter is either a mirror or a teacher. The mirrors reflect qualities within ourselves that we are already aware of. The teachers show us new ways that we are not yet aware of. It is our choice to water the seeds inside of us that we want to nourish and grow. Morning Practice - Hatha Yoga A.) World War II American Cemetery Just outside of Florence, we will offer our respects to over 4,000 American service men and women who paid the ultimate price during the Second World War. Among the fallen are five brothers. B.) Monteriggioni C.) Depart for the Tenuta Torciano wine tasting school Tenuta Torciano is about 30 minutes away, and has been producing wine and olive oil since 1720. Featuring panoramic views with hillsides, vineyards, and olive groves, sip wine in the heart of Tuscany or simply live in the moment. Pierluigi is the vineyard owner, and he will offer us an in depth explanation of his wines, how they are made, and the science of wine tasting and wine pairing. His mother will prepare an incredible luncheon for us using only local and organic foods. Bravissima!!! D.) Departure for San Gimignano This is called the Manhattan of Tuscany, because of its many medieval towers that look like skyscrapers from a distance. 15 minutes from Tenuta Torciano, this is a charming little town. Visit its central square, stroll into numerous shops, or dare to walk into the Medieval Torture Museum We will have an hour or so to enjoy this little gem in the heart of Tuscany. Hey, sample some wild boar meat while you re here! Return to hotel for rest Day s recap with optional Hike Yoga / Walking Meditation Cena! (Dinner is on your own) Everything about Florence seems to be coloured with a mild violet, like diluted wine. ~HenryJames

Tuesday: June 30 th, 2015 Day #9: A Peace of Assisi Departure for Assisi by train The train ride to Assisi is a two hour journey. We will enjoy the beautiful countryside of the Umbrian Region, famous for its olive orchards and rolling hills. As a medieval city, Assisi stands frozen in time and is set high on top of a hill. As the birthplace of St. Francis of Assisi, the Franciscan history of the town permeates every narrow cobblestone road and piazza. Assisi arrival Upon our arrival, private minivans will bring us into the very heart of the Umbrian countryside. We are staying at the Agriturismo Malvarina an incredibly scenic farm that produces 70% of all the organic products served in their dining room. The farm is entirely powered by solar panels and breeds chickens, rabbits, lambs, sheep, and turkeys. It also produces olive oil, vegetables, honey, jams and truffles. Mastro Giorgio, an expert cheese maker and meat curer, helps the Fabrizi family produce their cold cuts and pecorino cheese in the traditional Umbrian way. Tomorrow our host family will uncover their secrets to traditional epicurean cooking delights during a hands-on cooking class, after which we will share dinner in this Umbrian oasis. Truly off the beaten path, this Agriturismo experience will be an unforgettable treasure. Not Causing Harm Not causing harm requires staying awake. Part of being awake is slowing down enough to notice what we do and what we say. The more we witness our emotional chain reactions and understand how they work the easier it is to refrain. It becomes a way of life to stay awake, to slow down, to notice and to remain calm. Mid-Day Practice - Hatha Yoga Exploring Assisi: A.) The House of St. Francis family, including the prison cell where Francis was locked-up by his irate father. (Ah, medieval parenting!) B.) The gothic Basilica of St. Clare C.) Piazza Communale D.) An ancient Mythric Temple that predates Christianity, which Christianity has now embraced. E.) The Cathedral of San Ruffino F.) The Basilica of St. Francis Formal Umbrian wine tasting with local sommelier Day s recap and cena (Dinner included) Return to Agriturismo Malvarina All journeys have destinations of which the traveler is unaware. ~ Martin Buber

Day #10: Say Cheese in Assisi Wednesday: July 1 st, 2015 Cultivating Compassion By practicing acts of non-judgment, truth, understanding and unity toward ourselves, others and our environment we cultivate compassion. Creating a collective consciousness will promote positive change. Morning Practice - Hatha Yoga A.) The Rocca Maggiore Castle of Assisi The Rocca Maggiore Castel stands high above all of Assisi, commanding a superb view of the valleys and hills below. PRANZO! (Lunch on your own) B.) Back to Agriturismo Malvarina Free afternoon to tour the shops and explore Assisi, and Umbria in general, is famous for its pottery, linens, and fine olive oil. There are dozens of small shops in Assisi which sell these items, and store owners will happily ship your purchases back to the United States in one piece. Umbrian cooking class at Agriturismo Malvarina Chef Patrizia will dazzle us with her culinary talent and genuine, fun loving personality. This hands-on experience is a unique opportunity to learn the secrets of fabulous Italian cooking. Buonappetito! Day s recap during dinner Cena! (Dinner included) Traveling forces you to lose sight of all the familiar comforts of home. Nothing is yours except the essential things air, sleep, dreams, the sea, the sky all things tending towards the eternal or what we imagine of it. ~ Cesare Pavese

Day #11: Chow Roma Thursday: July 2 nd, 2015 Continental Breakfast Morning departure for Santa Maria degli Angeli in Assisi: The church of St. Mary of the Angels: a church inside a church. Visit the birthplace of the Franciscan movement, and the chapel where St. Francis made his transitus from this life into the next. Departure/arrival by train from Assisi to Rome Walk to the Spanish Steps After checking into our hotel, we will walk to the Spanish Steps, the widest staircase in all of Europe. The monumental stairway of 135 steps was designed by architects Francesco de Sanctis and Alessandro Specchi. In the piazza below is an early baroque fountain called Fontana della Barcaccia ("Fountain of the ugly Boat"). It was built in 1627-29 and is often credited to Pietro Bernini, the father of a more famous son, Gian Lorenzo Bernini. The 1953 film Roman Holiday, starring Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck, made the Spanish Steps famous to an American audience. Walk to the Trevi Fountain The Trevi Fountain was designed by Italian architect Nicola Salvi and completed by Pietro Bracci. Standing 86 feet high and 161 feet wide, it is the largest Baroque fountain in the city and one of the most famous fountains in the world. Legend holds that if visitors throw a coin into the fountain, they are ensured a return to Rome. An estimated 3,000 Euros are thrown into the fountain each day, and the money is used to subsidize a supermarket for Rome's needy. The fountain was featured in the 1953 film Roman Holiday, starring Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck. It was also showcased in the 1954 film Three Coins in the Fountain. Day s recap with Restorative Yoga / Sitting Meditation L ultima Cena or The Last Supper Closing Banquet Brace yourselves for a truly magnificent multi-course Roman feast that will be the culmination of many happy memories!!!! The Cucina Antica Romana prepares everything from the owner s local farm: fresh vegetable antipasto and cheeses, homemade pasta, local organic meats, and of course, vino. Buonappetito!!! Travel does what good novelists also do to the life of the everyday, placing it like a picture in a frame or a gem in its setting, so that the intrinsic qualities are made more clear. Travel does this with the very stuff that everyday life is made of, giving to it the sharp contour and meaning of art. ~ Freya Stark

Friday: July 3 rd, 2015 Continental Breakfast Day#12: Arrivederci Roma! A.) B.) C.) Morning Departure for Rome s Airport Departure for U.S.A. Arrival in U.S.A. Our battered suitcases were piled on the sidewalk again; we had longer ways to go. But no matter, the road is life. ~ Jack Kerouac
