. VOLUME 22 ISSUE 1 AMA Charter # 529 Eugene Prop Spinners http://flyinglines.org Club News and Other Information Last Club Meeting December 15, at the TJ's Family Restaurant in Creswell and Cinderella Park. PRESENT: Mike Denlis, Jim Corbett, John Thompson, Tom Kopriva, Mike Massey, Gene Pape, Dave Shrum, Floyd Carter, Mike Hazel, Roger Winz, Jim Mackin and Bill Spencer. We had a good breakfast at TJ's restaurant in Creswell, then gathered at Cinderella Park for the club meeting and tour of park. Motion msp to proceed talking with county parks folks about using the park for control line flying. Motion msp to re-elect current officers for 2014. Out of town Flying Bob Lewis of Roseburg reports January 4 - Well, the sun didn't make it out but four of us did. Shrum says it was 33 out, but I think it was closer to about 40. Hand warmers helped! Mike Massey flew his "Shark 45" getting in some really good flights which even he had to admit were OK. Mike is his own biggest critic. Bill Mix had trouble with his McCoy engine on his "Weekender." Dave Shrum turned out with his new OS. 40 powered "Super Chipmunk." It did well right off the building board but he is still fussing over finding the right prop. Great paint & graphics! He left his BEAUTIFUL twin boomed "La Donna" home. It hates grass for take-offs. I showed up with my Enya.35 powered "Twister" (which flew well after some adjustments on the bench before going out). I also took my Fox.40 powered "Challenger" which needs more workbench adjustment time - nice tight outside loop, bigger than a barn door inside loop! My OS.40 powered "Super Chip" profile came in with a rich run and I was too cold and tired to fuss with it any further. At least the plane flew well after a new push rod/control horn installation before going out. So it looks like colder temps followed by rain for the next few days so we will have to be on hold until the next flyable opportunity. Next Club Meeting Time and place 10 a.m. Sunday, at The Embers on Highway 99. Dues R Doo! Treasurer John Thompson Reports - Just thought I would give you a quick update on the dues situation for 2014. I received dues from quite a few members at the December meeting. We've also received three donations totaling $120. We have 14 paid members for 2014, so we have a really good start. If you have not paid your dues for 2014, you can either mail me a check or catch me at the January meeting. You can send your $25 annual dues to the treasurer (John Thompson). The mailing address is John Thompson, 2456 Quince St., Eugene, OR 97404. Donations also are welcome from nonmembers, life members, etc.

December 15 Meeting - at TJ's Family Restaurant and Cinderella Park in Creswell. Bob Lewis Hanger Party December. 2013 Past member comment Jim Morton I notice in the December newsletter that you have lost your airport again. I must say this is a common occurrence for this club. I remember when my dad was president back in the early to mid fifties the club was always looking for places to fly. Nothing new I guess. I remember we used to fly on the old Eugene airport after the new one was built. But some of the neighbors complained of the noise so we ended up on one of the reservoirs on Skinners Butte I think. I was only about 6 or 8 at the time so could be mistaken somewhat. My dad was Maury Morton if you want to go back that far and look him up. I currently live in Sweet Home now and have retired so am sorta looking for a hobby again. The guys at Eugene Toy and Hobby gave me the web site address so I could check you out. Should anyone like to contact me you can email me anytime always glad to talk about those days or about any kind of flying in general. 2

EUG Flying site equipment removal January 11. 2014 Moving Party - Rain and wind did not stop them. Mike Denlis, Jim Corbett, John Thompson, Gene Pape, Floyd Carter and Gordon Rea removed Eugene Prop Sinners bench, table, mowers, safety cones, mower shed, NWR/EPS storage trailer and the stone blocks that were used at the EUG airport overflow parking lot. The trailer is being parked at Eugene RC Areonauts field and the other items at Jim Corbett s place. The only items left behind on Saturday was the Windsock and pole. It is hoped that the Airport Maintenance crew will pull them out of the ground and fill in the hole, then we will need to pick them up. Bench, table and trailer Mower shed Stones Stored at ERCA flying site Some stuff stored at Jim Corbett s place 3
