Fourteen excited young people very much looking forward to the experience. Well done to all the participants and to the supporting Rotary Clubs. We had only two club visits this week, Somerset, where we had a relaxed and friendly meeting but the pressure was on at the other visit. My own club Smithton!!!! Smithton is well-known for full moon syndrome and they were in full flight Tuesday. In a great idea the club also turned the visit into a Hat Day fundraiser for ARH (Australian Rotary Health). Great fun. I must thank the members of the Rotary Club of Smithton for their continued support, especially the Conference Committee who are putting hours of work into presenting a memorable experience at Conference. Thank you John Dare for being in the right place, at the right time! However, they have to be stored and Tim will be calling for a working bee to clean out the shipping containers. This is critical for the Craft Fair storage, plus the chairs. I would like to see every member give this their maximum support. Club News...... In Pictures Induction Last week, President Bill inducted Lois Catchlove as a Rotarian into our Club. We welcome you Lois and trust that you will contribute and enjoy your time in Rotary. Guess Who s Coming to Dinner One day while driving with my 4-year old-daughter, I beeped the horn by mistake. She turned and looked at me for an explanation. I said, "I did that by accident." She replied, "I know that cuz you didn't say 'YOU JERK!'" Tasmanian Craft Fair TCF Director 2018-2019 Tim Biggs, Maree Matanle and John Dare form the Directorship of the Tasmanian Craft Fair. As you are all aware Tim is the current TCF Director and will also fulfil that role next year. It is desirable to elect a TCF Director for years 2018-2019 at the earliest moment to ensure a smooth transition from one Director to the next. The process we are following is: Expressions of interest are invited from paid up financial members of the Rotary Club of Deloraine. The Directorate will then select an applicant The Directorate will make a recommendation to the Board of the Rotary Club of Deloraine The Board will either ratify the recommendation or ask for an alternative candidate to be submitted The President of the Rotary Club of Deloraine will announce the TCF Director for 2018-2019 It is the intention to make a recommendation to the Board of the Rotary Club of Deloraine prior to the first weekend of November 2016. The role of the TCF Director includes: Responsibility for producing and monitoring an annual budget Appointing a TCF Committee and working closely with that committee Ensuring all necessary permits, Risk Management and Traffic Management Plans are valid and being followed Arranging the lease of venues Representing the TCF and Rotary Club in any media interviews Ensuring the nominated level of sponsorship is met Ensuring a high standard and mix of stall holders is achieved The foregoing is a "snapshot" of some of the duties of the TCF Director. If a more detailed job description is required please advise and it will be provided. The Directorate invite applicants for the position of Tasmanian Craft Fair Director for years 2018-2019. When submitting your expression of interest please provide a statement stating why you wish to apply and information on your back ground. In the first instance expressions of interest should be sent to John jdare@andrewdare.com.au by 27 th September, 2016.
