SANDFORD PARK COUNTRY HOTEL A Breath of Fresh Air In the Northern Drakensberg where one can view the mountain range which stretches across the Cathkin Peak to the Sentinal lies Sandford Park Country Hotel. A thatched farm-style retreat with country cottage décor, surrounded by 100 acres of woodland landscape. Sandford is steeped in history and was originally built from stone in 1850 to be used as a coach house. In 1900 it was used as barracks during the Boer war for British troops. The personality of the hotel is embodied through its mix of old and new architectural designs and finishing s which adorn Sandford s comfortable accommodation. Sandford Park Country Hotel offers 50 tastefully decorated and spacious en-suite rooms. Guests have a choice of 26 traditional rooms furnished in charming cottage style, with thatched roofs to ensure that the rooms are warm in winter and cool in summer. The 24 executive rooms are finished with modern fittings, digital satellite television and have bathrooms with separate bath and shower and private patios with stunning views of the Berg. A honeymoon suite and rooms with fireplaces are also available but require pre-booking. All spacious bedrooms have tea and coffee-making facilities, double or twin beds, en-suite bathrooms with separate showers, digital satellite television, telephones, safes for valuables and of course, breathtaking mountain views. Enjoy a candlelit dinner with attentive but unobtrusive service. Delicious cuisine prepared with care to entice the taste buds can be enjoyed with a glass of one of South Africa s best wines. Set in a picturesque English garden, Sandford is the ideal location for a peaceful rest surrounded by dramatic mountain panoramas. A host of recreational facilities are on offer including bird watching, fishing in the dam, walking on one of the trails or lounging around the pool. Play a leisurely game of croquet, volleyball, badminton, snooker or darts. The Drakensberg is one of the leading holiday regions in South Africa and Sandford is situated in the Northern Drakensberg, close to the famous Amphitheatre. The Royal National Park is not far from Sandford, where spectacular views and beautiful walks can be enjoyed by young and old alike. Nearby is the Spioenkop Game Reserve, with excellent game viewing all year round? Visit the well-known battlefield of Spioenkop. Only three and a half hours from Johannesburg and two and a half hours from Durban, Sandford is ideally situated for that unforgettable mountain wedding.
1. CAPACITY: Sandford is able to accommodate up to 100 guests in the chapel for a wedding and more if a marquee is used. Sandford has a total of 50 rooms with a maximum sleeping capacity of 120 persons (100 adults). RECEPTION VENUES: Option 1: Dining room at the hotel seats up to 100 guests comfortably This venue is subject to availability and hotel occupancies Option 2: Chapel can seat up to 100 guests. A marquee can be hired at an additional cost. The 10 seater round tables, chairs, chair covers, linen, cutlery, crockery, buffet chafing dishes & glassware, will be hired in and will be provided in the chapel.
