Thanks to Lane & Shelley Roehl, Chuck & Lucy Husum and Todd & Wendy Stansbury for opening up their homes on February 22 to Chapter C members for our annual Progressive Dinner. At least 30 people attended at least some part of the festivities, and there was enough food left to feed a small army! Here s a picture of the gang, standing outside Lane & Shelley s top deck, for your viewing pleasure. Thanks also to Lisa Migliore for coordinating this extravaganza! Page 2 Blue Crew News March 2015 A Note from your CD s Mark Waterman Recap After seeing the weather other parts of the country are dealing with it makes one feel lucky to live in the Pacific Northwest. We have been having a very mild winter which brings with it some good riding days even in January and February. There is little doubt that we will pay for our good fortune later in the year with limited water because of the low snow pack in the winter but I say we continue to enjoy this good riding weather while we can. AMR Bowling @ Majestic Lanes: We had 11 bowlers and 7 cheerleaders. Those who attended were Carl & Kathy Leon, Mark & Brenda Waterman, Mike & Lisa Migliore, Denny & Waf Wright, Walt & Rebecca De Fisser, Faye Dawson, LeeRoy Kind, Bob Arntzen, Brad Hansen, Mike & Lisa Embury, and Jim & Sparky Waterman. Dinner/Dessert Run: We had a decent turnout for a good meal of seafood. Keep in mind where you would like to go for Dinner in March. We will decide at the upcoming General meeting. Green Freeze II: We had a great turn out for the second Green Freeze ride. Jerry Weltner led a group of 9 bikes on a good ride with only one official Chapter C u-turn. Great Job Jerry! Chapter C is well on its way to being the largest Chapter for the Green Freeze. Lets make a great showing at the final ride on March 21 st. Progressive Dinner: The article on page 1 says it all! Thanks to everyone involved. March 3/7: General Meeting @ Bob s Burger and Brew: Show up for breakfast and stay for all the current info from our chapter and from any other organizations promoting their own rides. 3/7: AMR Northwest Wings Fiesta: This is the North- west Wings annual fund raiser to cover the costs the group has during the performing season. They hold a silent auction along with a live auction. This a good time to pick up some stuff you didn t even know you needed. 3/11: Everett Powersports Maintenance Class: Everett Powersports sets these up for Chapter C to keep those of us that perform general maintenance on our own bikes. They will show just what it takes to get around the Goldwing. Pretty eye opening at times. Bring your ideas on what you would like to see. See Mike Liebold s Industry article for more details. 3/17: Planning Meeting: Everett Powersports at 6pm. This is where all the decisions are made on the direction of Chapter C. 3/19: Dinner/Dessert: Be thinking about that restaurant you have been meaning to check out or get back to and bring that idea to the next general meeting. 3/21: Green Freeze III: The third and final Green Freeze ride. This one ends with a banquet and the chance to win prizes. Your CD s Colors Drawing The colors drawing is up to $25! Wear your colors and name tag to be eligible to win this money at our Chapter Meeting!
GWTA Chapter C Evergreen Wings CB Channel 15 Page 3 STP 2015 STP (Seattle to Portland) bicycle run will be held July 11 & 12 with 19 Chapter C folks signed up (so far) to help. Darlene and Chuck are the Focals for STP, and Darlene apologized for having to get people signed up so early, but the STP people need to know the shirt sizes so they can get them ordered in time for the Event. If Chapter members are thinking about working STP both Saturday and Sunday, you ll need to stay in a motel in the Castle rock area. Rooms are already getting scarce to find. Darlene added that if people want to camp out at the Castle rock School grounds as in past years, they can do so and it s free. See Darlene and Chuck if you have This & That; Nibbles & Bits Chapter B Fundraiser Save the Date! Saturday, June 6 is the date for the annual Chapter B fundraiser, starting at the Angel of the Winds Casino. There will be an optional motorcycle ride and lots of great prices, with a performance by the NW Wings Drill Team. Ride for Kids News Mary Rairdin Starting with a sad note. For anyone who has been involved with the Ride for Kids, you probably know Nick. Nick, 17,lost his battle last night. He had a brain tumor at 4 and survived that. As a result of treatment he received he has had leukemia twice. He fought long and hard but is now at peace. That is why we volunteer for the ride for Kids. We need many more volunteers and fundraisers to help battle this terrible disease. Our task force is very small and we need help. So if you have a little extra time please consider helping out. We need help visiting clubs and dealers to get info out about our ride. We also need help with getting word out to the media, someone who is good at asking for money---as in business sponsorships. There are many volunteer jobs on the day of the ride if you are not able to help out all year long. I will keep you updated on volunteer training as the ride gets closer. If you have any questions please contact me at 425-259-3904 or mmrairdin@aol.com. Wing Washington Visits Upcoming Wing Washington Visits promotional visits are shown below all are welcome! Eight hungry Chapter C diners found the Red Lobster (and cheesy biscuits) at the February dinner ride. Seven of the hungry ones are pictured below who was the eighth diner? Only the Red Lobster knows... The birth flower for March is daffodil. In the language of flowers, daffodils symbolize chivalry, re- spect, modesty, and faithfulness
Page 4 Blue Crew News March 2015 Industry News Mike Leibold Mark your calendar for Wednesday March 11, at 7 P.M. That s the night Everett Powersports will open up its Service Department and hold a maintenance night until 8:30 P.M. Cedric will be there to answer all questions and, of course, to show us the easy way to check our air cleaners. Yes, refreshments will be served. Everett Powersports just found out the Early Spring Fun Run will be starting and ending at the store on April 11th. This location will allow participants to be out of the rain if we have wet weather on that day. Let s get out and participate in this activity so we can invite more mutual support for events like the Ride for Kids. Be sure to check those tire pressures before your ride this year and keep in mind the public air hose is always on duty at the store. Mike, Mark, Matt, and the staff LeeRoy Kind and His Merry Men Chapter I Visit LeeRoy Kind and his band of Merry Men visited Chapter I on February 15 to promote Wing Washington. The band of rogues (LeeRoy, Denny Wright, Jim Moore, and Mike Migliore) surveyed the great Isle of Whidbey, the Kingdom of Anacortes, and the serfdom of LaConner, spreading their wealth of smiles across the vast land. The weather was accommodating and mild, and lo and behold, the Merry Men enjoyed a Winter ride upon their noble steeds.
